This was a good place, and I’d probably rent a room there again. It’s in a decent neighborhood with many other guest houses, affordable, and pretty comfortable. Pros: staff were extremely gracious, even granting us early check-in than usual. We just wanted to stow our bags and get to sight-seeing, but they said«wait 15 minutes and we’ll let you into your room.» They were also great about suggesting places to visit and giving us maps and walking directions. The room itself is comfortable, with an added shower bath and nice, large windows to let in the cool breeze at night(it was unseasonably warm when we were there, with temps getting up to 30 C). It’s not a bad walk to Princes Street and other nice areas. Breakfast was fine overall — good eggs, especially. It is newly renovated. Free wifi. Cons: the bed wasn’t very comfortable. It was new, but I don’t know that it will be serviceable a couple years from now. The shower doors didn’t close completely, so I had to shower carefully to avoid getting water on the floor. While breakfast was good overall, the mushrooms were clearly from a can, and they put out Kraft Cheese Singles. So I think this place has great potential to be a four– or five-star place. It’s solid, but the other places in the same or lower price range that we stayed in were better.
