Another lazy hangover Sunday dinner venture took me here, to Fiddlers Elbow! Nice place, been a few time for just drinks, a couple of gig nights upstairs and a friends birthday party in the function room downstairs, so they have versatile spaces on offer. The interior is slightly old-man pub style with a big splash of quirky features. The main bar has a cosy feel about it, with it’s very own sheep statue?! Took them up on the 3 course for a tenner offer, bargain! Started off with mushrooms in garlic and salad, which was a bit oily, but I soon forgot about that after my main — traditional fish, chips and peas! The fish was meaty, batter was light and crisp. Perfect for soaking up the night afores excesses! I was disappointed that 2 out of the 3 dessert choices were off the menu, especially the sticky toffee pudding. So settled for the only option, apple tart and custard… Later the waitress returned explaining the tart was off the menu too, but could offer warm chocolate cake. Even better I thought and as an apology for the mix up they gave us two drinks on the house! Delighted! The chocolate cake and custard was rich and warming too. Happy and replenished we set off back into the night. Sarah — one Hangover — nil!

Some of you will remember Picardy Place, The Met, The Sherlock Holmes. Well, now let me introduce you to the Fiddlers Elbow and Wa Wa Noodle Bar. Opened Tuesday, 28th September promising not only a shiny new bar in the buzziest part of town, but live Scottish music, traditional Scottish food and an actual basement noodle bar! There’s also function rooms upstair and a few rooms further up if you feel like staying the night. I was in tonight, lively atmosphere with live music to boot! Friendly welcome, good selection in reasonably priced drinks and a great looking menu. I love the new look and can’t wait to try the menu, especially the noodle bar. Maybe I’ll increase it’s rating to 5* Definitely one to try!
