My wife and I enjoyed our visit. Nice staff, good massages and treatments. Pleasantly quiet. The only downside was the food which was poor. The Caesar Salad was tasteless and the bacon was not there at all.; and curiously there were only 3 wines listed on the menu but only two of these were available. I ordered a beer and a bottle was brought but no glass. Sheraton Hotel catering? Remind me not to eat there! I Wittet

Thank goodness for this place. It is the only passable hotel gym I could find in Edinbugh(close to all the major sights, that is), and believe me, I did my research! Excellent equipment, friendly staff, and aesthetically pleasing setting. What more could one want from a fitness center?

It’s Christmas Day, 2014. The sun is shining. We’ve just finished a walk up Arthur’s seat. Our family dinner is not until Boxing Day. So what do we do? Watch TV while gorging on chocolates, cheese and mince pies? Or… do we put our favourite Christmas pressie to use… Annual conversations with my mother: Mother: What would you like for your birthday? Me: Gift voucher for the One Spa! Mother: What would you and ‘J’ like for your Anniversary? Us: Gift vouchers for the One Spa! Mother: What would you and ‘J’ like for Christmas? Us: Gift vouchers for the One Spa! When it comes to health and fitness, I love trying new things but now I’m going to let you in on a little secret and share with you my favourite place to relax in Edinburgh… You guessed it — The One Spa! I first came with my husband many years ago when we stayed a night in the Sheraton. We usually pick hotels with a nice fitness/relaxation area but we were blown away with the hydrotherapy facilities at the Sheraton and even now we have never found anything that comes close. Luckily you don’t need to be a hotel guest, or even a member to enjoy a day of relaxation at The One Spa. The unique hydrotherapy suite can be enjoyed on its own as The ESCAPE at ONE package, or as part of a therapy package for the ultimate in pampering and relaxation. A hotel with a spa attached. Like us, you’d probably expect a single depth, warm pool with a small round hot tub on the side with a sauna and a steam room tucked in each corner and a couple showers stuck to the wall. And, in Edinburgh, most of the other city centre 5* hotels are in old buildings — beautiful but not conducive to all the mod cons and the only place to stick the pool, little round hot tub(if there even is one) corner sauna and steam room is in the cellar. The Sheraton is unique in that it is a modern building with a completely separate purpose built spa in the back courtyard. And the hydrotherapy suite is not stuck in a dark, dingy cellar but takes pride of place on the top of the modern glass cube. This cube houses Edinburgh’s only full hydrotherapy suite — a collection of hot/cold water based therapies that will steam, sweat and pummel the stress and toxins right out of every cell in your body! After a year of hard work and travel that involves several flights a month, that’s exactly what we needed so we were jumping with holiday joy when we called and found out that the spa was open on Christmas day. This was our idea of holiday heaven but you really do need to be a water/heat lover to make the most of the Escape Package. If you’re only up for a quick dip in the pool and 2 minutes in the sauna you may not get the most out of the different zones. But if you’re a lover than you will be in HEAVEN! If you’re not sure how to make the most of the 3 hour Escape, then I have written out detailed tips for each zone in my blog(healthy Edinburgh — see link in my profile). But, to sum it all up there is: –changing rooms with robes, towels, flip-flops, Espa products — you only need your swimsuit and a hairbrush! –a 19m spa pool; perfect depth, length and temperature –two ‘lifestyle showers’. A citrus scented, warm tropical rain shower and a minty, menthol cold fog/mist shower –two steam rooms(the hammam suffers from all the heat being too high above your head but the smaller Aroma Grotto is perfect) –3 saunas(one poolside) –an amazing ‘laconium’ which is a warm tiled room; if you stay in long enough your body becomes one with the room creating the most relaxing, sensory deprivation sensation –and a rooftop hydropool with an inside section that is lined with multi-height jets that pummel targeted muscles and an outside pool sized hot tub that has currents and torrents of water to massage out all your tension. –heated loungers, ice baths, and relaxation areas ensure you get the right balance of hot, cold and rest. As if all this wasn’t enough, the facility is clean and bright and constantly being updated. In the few years that I’ve been coming the changing rooms have been remodelled, the poolside showers re-tiled, locks replaced on all the lockers. The staff are welcoming and helpful; there is a healthy café where you can refuel — even while in your bathrobe and slippers! And of course, free parking in the garage while you use the spa(just remember to get your ticket stamped). This place is AMAZING and unique in Edinburgh — it really deserves more Stars!!!

On my weekend getaway to Edinburgh, I decided to treat myself to a spa day. I’m not normally one who goes beyond pedicures and manicures. And, generally, if I am stressed, I go buy handbags instead of getting a massage. But, I threw that aside and checked out One Spa! And, I’m so glad that I did. I arrived a little before 9am as my massage started at 9:30am. I was treated graciously upon my arrival. I filled out the form related to allergies, etc., was given my electronic bracelet to get access to everything, and was allowed to order my lunch then. From there, I was shown the changing rooms as well as my locker. Every step of the way, there was someone there to make sure you had everything you needed. Plenty of hair dryers and straighteners in the changing room as well after you shower. All of my treatments for the day were done by Nicole. She established a wonderful working relationship with me all day. I had the Chakra Balancing hot stones massage. Before she started, she asked me what stress I had in my life. As a student, I explained what stress I was under for that as well as personal life stress. I did not feel uncomfortable at all explaining what issues I had with my body. She even made sure I was fine with the products we were using as I am allergic to seaweed. The massage was amazing! The treatment room was dark, peaceful, warm, and plenty of soothing music in the background. The intensive facial that I had started right at the end of the massage. I found myself falling asleep both times! The relaxation room where I spent an hour before lunch allows for recovery from the treatments as well as downtime to read those magazines that I never seem to have time for! My lunch was perfect! I ordered a bento box complete with a smoothie. It left me full for the rest of the day. After lunch, I checked out the hydropools. Truthfully, I never left them. They do have a tendency to shut off after 15 minutes, but a simple push of a button they are back on. I loved the outdoor one. It was not a particularly cold day, but the wind and outdoor temperature combined with the heat made for a relaxing experience. I did try to use the Cleopatra baths, but they were not working. My afternoon treatments were a manicure and pedicure by Nicole. She asked me about issues I had with my hands and feet. She took those concerns in mind especially with giving some specific treatments to try to remedy those problems. It was a perfect day! Truly, if you have time in Edinburgh, go to One Spa! Take a day off!

The fact that this spa is roof top just says luxury to me! It puts the spa into Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa, and just off Lothian Road. Mind you they can be quite pricey, but this has all got to do with the image their trying to project, as well as the various treatments they offer. As usual I haven’t heard of most of them, but was particularly curious about the rainforest shower. Thankfully, I have a friend who has actually been to the Amazon(they come in REALLY handy!) and basically it’s a room with showerheads all over the ceiling, so it seems as though it’s raining in the room. Ofcourse if you’d rather just have a facial and a massage, they do that as well. They’ve got two pools, one of which is thermal, and a gym for those who’d rather«feel the burn» than relax, though I’d rather get in the sauna when there’s that alternative.

One of the best Spas I’ve ever been to, One Spa has a fantastic range of saunas, steam rooms, and other relaxing experiences. The pool is bright and airy, very sparsely chlorinated and generally quiet(although not between 3 and 5, when children are allowed in — a good point to note for families). Hotel guests can use the pool, but have to pay extra for the spa, which means the spa is generally very quiet. Robes and flip flops and an assortment of towels are provided, and the changing facilities are good with cubicles and large lockers that require no money, just a key code. However, the best thing about this spa is, of course, the hydropool — starting indoors, the bulk of this is outside, with jets of water to massage your shoulders while you look on to the offices opposite, and underwater ‘sunbeds’ for you to relax on while bubbles well up beneath you. Bliss, especially at sunset. I liked it so much that I joined! Well worth it.

I have been lucky enough to have 2 spa days here. One of them was earlier this year and it was a truly wonderful day. I had a half day treatment followed by the rest of the day to spend in the spa using their facilities. I met with my therapist in the morning who discussed what I wanted to get out of my day and I then got three of the most relaxing hours of my life. I left feeling a lighter, happier me, with a couple of lovely smelling purchases in my bag. If only I could get a gift like that for my birthday every year!

One Spa is uniquely placed in Edinburgh as a premium spa with great facilities in a convenient location. The treatments, all of which are overseen by the global Espa group, are at international standards and are all performed by highly trained therapists. Although the prices are high even by Western standards, it is undisputable that the quality of treatments is also very high. The other spa facilities include several heat treatment rooms and a great outdoor jacuzzi pool that overlooks office blocks filled with undoubtedly jealous employees. There’s even a good sized pool if you want to get a few laps in before your massage/treatments, and the staff is great.

The One Spa is a wonderful place. It’s total relaxation and calm and peaceful — I feel my shoulders relaxing as I walk up the stairs. You can just go and use the facilities or you can combine that with a treatment. The facilities are great, have huge swimming pool, hot spa pool with a swim through to open air heated pool(it has beds you can lie on and fab on cold day), tropical showers, scented baths, sauna, steam rooms(several), heated beds. There is a rasul(sp) where you can slap mud all over yourself too. If you want a treatment they do ESPA treatments — I can really recommend the hot stone therapy or booking Time — you chose how long and book that with a therapist — she then decides what you need most on the day. The café is lovely — healthy food with all the nutritional information available. The fruit smoothies are excellent too. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is the prices. I have been going for over 5 years now and have been really unimpressed with the rate at which the prices have increased. When I first went it was about £25 to go for the day, now you pay £65 just to use the facilities. Not impressed but still go occasionally for a real treat.

This is one of the best spas in the UK. It offers treatments for face and body, as well as a thermal suite with many heated rooms, saunas, tropical rain shower, heated ceramic beds, swimming pool, gym and outdoor spa pool. This is a little piece of heaven right in the centre of Edinburgh. The hours just seem to melt away as you relax in the luxurious surroundings. The prices are expensive but as a special treat for yourself or those you love it is well worth it.
