This pub was the first in Edinburgh to introduce the no smoking ban. It made some headlines for that but otherwise doesn’t really have much going for it. I’ve been a couple of times and it is usefully situated, being just off Princes Street. It also has Sky tv screens, which is unusual for bars in this part of town. So it’s not all bad. The interior, however, is very non-descript with old carpets and cheap wallpaper décor. It’s an indoor pub as only the entrance is overlooking the outside. The pub also attracts some less than enticing characters, with a few folk you wouldn’t want to catch eye contact with, and others who just want to drink too much. I would rather go to any of the other pubs nearby instead of this place. They do a reasonable pub food menu so if you’re looking for pub food at lunchtime it’s okay. Just best to avoid in the evenings.
