Yesterday morning I accidentally got some contact lens cleaner in my eyes, and even after I used eyedrops, my eyes still stung. I decided that I was going to stop by the optician at Ocean Terminal, on my way to work, and just check that everything was OK. I went into Vision Express as soon as they opened and told them what I’d done and showed them the lens cleaner and they went into full-on disciplined professional PANICMODE. I got shown round the back where they had a sink and told to use the eye bath right away, which I did, and then the optician came back with a bottle of saline solution and poured it into my eyes, pretty much all of it: and then she took me into her consultant room and checked my eyes and told me she was going to call the Eye Pavillion and fax them a letter and I should go up there right away and they’d see what damage had been done. She wasn’t reassuring at all, and I’m kind of grateful to her for that.(Disconcerting though it was at the time.) I got to the Eye Pavillion within two hours of having the contact lens cleaner accident and got my eyes very thoroughly rinsed out. I’m very grateful to the optician who dealt with me so quickly: I really appreciate Vision Express for having such helpful, professional staff.

I feel conned and I don’t know why because I don’t think I was… I need glasses to look at the computer because the screen’s melted my mid-range site. So in my lunch break I popped into Vision Express and tried on some hideously expensive Alain Mikli frames which I then stupidly bought… I haven’t worn them since by the way. I was offered 10% off if I took the years insurance for £25, this worked out actually cheaper so no con there(god, they were expensive specs. I’m gutted about it now). When I said I didn’t have my prescription or even know vaguely what it was they weren’t remotely concerned. «no trouble Miss White, where did you have you eyes tested?» I told her and two seconds later there was a fax with my prescription clearly shown. It was all very profressional I tell you. Then I only had to wait for an hour until they were ready to pick up. Little did I know I was in no rush, as I was never going to wear them ever again… Top marks, maybe with the exception of money-out-of-pocket.
