Spencers is a great restaurant that is always busy, I have been back time and time again and the food and service is always good. There is nowhere to park so you have to walk alittle or if you are lucky then you get one of the two street parking spaces. The food is good price and the wine selection is very good.

Visited 28.3.08. Excellent. Interesting, varied meat/​fish menu. Bistro-​type with bar, downstairs, alcoved restaurant upstairs. Reasonable prices. Very good quality cooking, generous portions. Good wine list without the usual horrendous mark-​up in price. E.g. Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2007 at £29 — v. cheap for this quality wine in a restaurant. Courses offered are: Olives & Breads; Starters & Salads; Mains; Vegetable Side Dishes (choice of 2 included with each main course); Desserts; Beverages. Everything we tried was good. Service efficient & friendly. We thought this was quite a find, offering fine value for money. Incidentally, it’s Spencers (not Spensers) & is at 36 (not 38) North Street.
