Toby Carvery

Really lovely setting and restaurant, and one of the better Toby’s in terms of the quality of cooking etc. Gets quite busy at peak times, a sure sign of its popularity. Good service overall, which inevitably slows down with a full house. A good place to eat, would be happy to continue returning here.

As far as I can tell, the only main course they server here is a roast dinner that you collect yourself from the carvery. When ever I’ve been, you choose between either roast beef, turkey, pork or gammon. Or you can have a selection of each.
This place as a real old style pub feel to it. You can have a few drinks at they bar if your need to wait for your table.
In my opinion its very well priced here. I would imagine that you would spend similar money cooking your own roast dinner.
They do great deserts here too.
The staff are generally quite friendly.
There’s a large car park at the front so parking should never be a problem. There’s also a large garden at the back which is quite nice during the summer months.

Unfortunately, the service last night was appalling! My fiends and I were told there would be a 20 minute wait for a table, we waited an hour and then, after I complained, did get seated about 5 minutes later. We ordered drinks before going to the carvery. When we returned to the table the drinks still weren’t there.
The carvery was ok, although the brussels were rock hard, inedible. Once again, on finishing our meal we had to wait a good half an hour for the table to be cleared. We ordered dessert, coffee and the bill. Another never ending wait. The dessert did eventually arrive (no coffee, no bill), but the Eton Mess was a huge glass of cream, 4 raspberries on the top and two broken bits of meringue on the top. Again, inedible.
We asked what had happened to the coffees the machine was broken. Bill? It eventually arrived, but no-​one came back to take the money so we paid at the bar.
We did complain, but were told ‘it was busy’. We will not be going back.
