Very solid 4-​star only let down by unfocused service and staff shift change.
We visited on Bank Holiday Monday after Christmas and were glad the web research was accurate. We enjoyed the modern interior and competent kitchen, especially as MC offers great value 2– or 3-​course menus. There were five of us and we mixed a number of courses so we shared desserts with no issues. The kitchen was a little slow but we were hair with the quality of the food.
Parking could be difficult in the front of the hotel but I found a car lot around the corner with pay and display.

this place was never the best. to be honest i always thought it looked like a prison, has shut down now which says alot.

I love the Hotel Barcelona, the food is gorgeous, the cocktails are even better! And the staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. It is in a central location, close to all local amenities and literally a 5 mins walk from the Town centre, also close to the Cathedral and city wall where you can take a guided tour!

I have had some great cocktails in the Kino (spelling?) Bar in some of the coolest surroundings that Exeter has to offer. It’s price, but you get what you pay for.
Definately a good place to go for a few drinks with a group of friends but you don’t fancy going-​on clubbing.

I really do love the hotel Barcelona so I’m a bit down that I heard they’re going to be shut for a year from 19^th December in order to undergo a refit! I don’t think it needs to be redecorated the décor has always been one of its strongest features in my opinion: quirky, fun and chic. The cocktail bar is really fun, with some truly delicious creations on offer, and some equally yummy cocktail waiters! The restaurant is simply marvellous their food is inspired and delicious, if a bit pricey for my meagre student budget. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are all lovely. I enjoyed myself a lot every time I went!

This is a great restaurant. Lovely setting and very friendly staff. They have a wonderful menu — especially the pizza’s! They also have rooms that can be used for meeting or small conferences.

This is a really lovely hotel and it’s located within walking distance of the city centre, so very handy for shopping! It is quite expensive but worth it, the food is lovely and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

A lovely chic setting. (They do a smashing Pimms and lemonade!) The service is quite good but the menu is great!

awesome place. great peices of furniture ticks every box apart from it does not have a pool. try the wood burning pizza oven. i loved it and i dont like pizza.

This is a very Posh and lovely hotel, it has warm and friendly staff and was a pleasure to be in i would go again.

always a must stop in a crawl in exeter, normally i go there with work colleagues and is a very nice contemporary place with comfortable seating and a nice bar area.

I have only been to Kino’s but it’s outstanding. The cocktails are stunning and they are made to perfection. Such a mixture of people are in the bar so the atmosphere is great. Music is great — generally jazz and it goes with the place. Lots of little places to sit and be intimate with friends.

Excellent city centre venue with car parking. Used to be the Eye hospital. Nicely converted into cool hotel. Good for meetings and restaurant serves really good food and relaxed sunday lunches. The restaurant also has jazz on some days and special events like themed dinners and wine tasting. Also has a chilled cocktail bar but with typical 21^st century cocktail prices!

I love Hotel Barcelona, can I say it again? I really LOVE Hotel Barcelona. This love affair started shortly after I glimpsed its forbidding façade at the end of my road in St Leonards, and I realised this was my local. The accommodation side of the complex consists of gorgeous retro styled rooms, there is also a stylish restaurant and best of all, downstairs is Kino’s, the cocktail bar.
Kino’s is decorated in a mixture of gentleman’s club, retro cocktail bar and cabaret nightclub. All of the belle monde of Exeter go there to sip on beautifully presented and original cocktails (at £5 or £6 a pop you only want to sip) and to chat. You might find a literary group arguing plots in one corner, a pair of lovers with fingers entwined in another, and a jazz fiend humming along to the tunes at the bar.
There is sometimes live music and dancing and the dance hall can be hired for private parties. So get your glad rags on, and visit this unique place. I have never been anywhere like it.
