Morrisons is just off Oldham Road in the middle of lots of house it’s a strange location. But there is a very large carpark there is a café as you enter the store. There is always lots of special offers staff seem friendly and helpful. And there is the Morrison’s petrol station half a mile up the road opposite Tesco’s.

In an era of modern supermarkets, with glass buildings, some with even a nice, modern design, this branch of Morrisons has been left behind. Failsworth is a town full of mills, to the point it can be hard to find the certain mill you are looking for, and of course that means where ever it is, it is going to be quite old, as is this store. This branch of Morrisons does try to follow the traditional Morrisons layout, but it it still easy to tell that you are in a mill, with a very unusual, old fashioned, small car park leading into this store. The products on offer here are quite poor, with a terrible frozen free from range, and even a non-frozen free from range which is worse than some«Morrisons Local» stores, stock for other items is okay but even for a non-coeliac, many missing items mean you could have to make more than one supermarket trip. A lack of key items, including Starbucks iced beverages, which they only have few of, to make way for their horrid own brand alternative, which isn’t much cheaper anyway, as well as just general things you would want to find in a supermarket. With this Morrisons being an old store, signal in and around the store(especially inside) can be terrible, especially with O2, which means even phone calls and texting is impossible, nevermind 3g /4g which is bad, if you plan to surf the web in the café or even try to make a call or text for general reasons, or if you are meeting them in the store(but it isn’t that big, so it would be quite easy to find them) One of the only reasons this branch of Morrisons does not get a single 1 star, is they do have some great offers on here, with great prices meaning it is cheaper than most other supermarkets such as £1.99 for Douwe egberts tropicana, or £2 for a branded 1.35l orange juice. The newspapers can be hard to find, being right at the front of the store near the tobacco /lottery desk, which is a shame as it means you have to go out of the store to pick up your newspapers, which means if you forget to do it first, you could be making 2 trips to the tills. This Morrisons store is very poor, and one of the poorest supermarkets I have seen for appearance, and in my opinion with a Tesco open just down a road, they is no need for this supermarket now, as it is simply just too old fashioned, to the point where it isn’t a very nice place to shop, but they is some good offers here so it is always worth a look in, so I do feel 2 stars is fair for this supermarket. Perhaps rebuilding the store or changing location(still in Failsworth) could really bring up satisfaction for customers in this store.

Before Tesco arrived in Failsworth, I used to shop in Morrisons quite often. I used to go in for stuff to use in our shop such as packs of butter and tins of salmon etc. I would spend about £100 per week in one shop. One day they decided to stop me from buying more than 6 of any one item, even though I had been doing for about a year or so. The different staff to whom I was used to dealing with was so different — they were rude and very unhelpful, one morning when I was told I couldn’t buy their product, I pushed my trolley at them and walked out(without my pound I had put in the trolley). Bad customer service. It has been about 3 years since I have been back, and nothing has changed, with one exception — less customers. All the products were the same, in the same place with the same packaging. The store was the same — very old fashioned and dimly lit , And the staff are the same. Rude, bad mannered and don’t seem to have been trained in keeping the customer happy. I wandered round the very very empty(customer wise) store I was feeling more and more depressed and just wanted to leave. I had just nipped in since I had visited a friend who lived near by, for some sauce for my noodles. I picked them up and headed for the till, paid and went to the Lotto till. The woman behind the counter was a little further up from me leaning on the counter chatting to a man. She looked over at me and leant back on the counter to carry on her conversation. I tapped on the floor with my foot and waited patiently. A few minutes later she wandered over. I handed her my winning scratch card and she looked at me, looked at the emblem on my jumper and looked at me again — so what if it was a pole dancer. She scanned my winning card and looked at me again. So i looked back. She took the £2 from the till and I asked for two more cards with the winnings. She looked at me(without smiling once) and asked«you are over 16 aren’t you?» so I replied«yes, I am 24». I have always looked young and am always being ID-ed so always carry my driving license. She didn’t ask me for it. Just tutted, walked over to the other till and then shouted«that’ll be £2». Confused I said«what will», «the scratch cards», «no, use the winning £2». She had forgotten I had just given her a winning card and she had put the money in her hand and it was still there. She tried explaining to me the scratch cards would cost me £2. Anyway I explained her job to her and she put her hand out to give me the cards, tutted and looked away. Skanky woman. I will never be returning to this place. And I didn’t win on the new scratch cards. That is her fault. She probably fixed it.
