Fantastic fresh food. Perfect destination en route to seeing the Seven Sisters. They location has indoor and outdoor seating, a fresh market, a cidery, and a petting zoo. Come hungry and stay awhile.

Usually, my trips to Middle Farm involve a wander around the farm shop and the cider room. However, last summer I paid the place a visit with my friend and their 2 kids. After checking out the farm, we went for lunch at the restaurant. Like the previous reviews, I would echo the sentiments that this is more of a tearoom/café. Still, if you have been at the farm for some time, then they offer just what you need to appease any rumbling bellies. I went for a hot pasty that they bake freshly on site and a café latte. Both were more than passable. The children were bought the kids lunchboxes they sell and my friends wife was happy to see that these were not an imitation of a calorific happy meal. Instead, they came with a basic sandwich that children would like, fresh fruit, a sugar free drink, and a fruit bar. Jamie Oliver would be pleased by this dish! The staff were all pleasant and even though the place was busy, it didn’t take long to get our food. It’s pretty low key in terms of service and you get your cutlery plus condiments from a service point. Don’t expect Michelin Stars, but if you want homemade food that fits in well with the spirit of the farm, then by all means stop in for a bite before you journey home. The prices are very reasonable also.

Like the rest of Middle Farm, the restaurant is charming and positively bursting with quality. However, I’d describe it more as a glorified tearoom because of its location. It isn’t designed to be somewhere you travel to just for the food, although it is great, it’s designed for those who’ve spent the day at the farm and need some quick refreshment before hitting the road back to Brighton. All the produce is locally sourced if not from the farm itself. The atmosphere is always relaxed, as it’s far enough from town to only attract those with enough will power to actually organise an outing that doesn’t involve the pub. However, the farm’s Cider and Perry room will provide enough entertainment to even those that don’t. The famers’ market on Sundays is a great place to stock up along with the on-site farm store.

Middle Farm’s cosy restaurant just outside of Brighton may not be the expected haunt of a twenty-something Brightonian — with the predominantly grey-headed clientale — but, as only a short car ride away, and with delicious great value food, it’s well worth a trip out of town. As are the farm itself and shop, offering a great trip to see the animals for families, and tons of delicious organic local produce in the shop(see the two additional Unilocal entries!). The restaurant itself serves up home-made foods of deliciousness, with much produce coming from the farm. You’ll find a yummy sausage and onion baguettes, indulgent cream tea and fresh soups as well as larger meal options(the aforementioned being the three things I’ve tried!). All the food is a real treat, and with a warming fire in winter, it’s an excellent place for a cosy winter pick me up.
