Went there three days ago. Everything seems fresh there and waste is not allowed so tell the staff what you don’t want in your food. Tried the jimmy farm beef burger, loved it! My boyfriend tried the chicken burger they recommended and enjoyed it! The fresh fries there are so good, won’t be disappointed. It’s in THEGATE. Cool place to grab a bite before the movie:)

Have eaten at the Handmade Burger Co. on many occasions and every time we have had a great meal. Would recommend this restaurant as the food is good quality and the staff and service is excellent.

been to a couple of handmade burger cos in the past, this one is ok but gets really busy and have been better locations. the food is always good though — with chains you know what you are getting but the quality is still good. nice range of different types of burgers.

Food — nice balance between quality and quantity. Food was delicious and wasn’t a disappointing size like most places. Only complaint was the peri peri chips — basically just drenched in dry chilli flakes and not like the traditional peri peri chips. However this is my fault as didn’t read the menu! Staff — 5⁄5 for the service and they are really friendly. Refreshing to see in the UK. Overall — great food, great service and would highly recommend.

My impression after the first bite: HOLY S**T! That stuff is DELICIOUS! But let’s start from the beginning. Staying in Gateshead for business, the Marriott across the road proved the evening before not to be able to serve a decent burger. My research in the night brought up the Handmade Burger Co. just across the street. The metro centre is pretty huge for continental Europeans, so that we had to search for quite some while before we found the place. The place itself was suspicious at first, as it was less than half full(I usually tend to think that places that are pretty full must have a turnover of food so that you always get fresh stuff and this place didn’t look like this). The number of burgers offered on the menu gives you a really hard time to decide on something. Since we went as a party of three, two went for the freerange-stuff(Jimmy’s farm), and one went for the regular beef. The regular stuff is average, the freerange meat is a dream come true for your taste buds. Do yourself a favour and specifically indicate how you want your beef cooked, as the free-range beef is a pity to enjoy well-done. All in all, I grant the place an exceptional rating and would go there again at any point in time!

Super eatery situated at the Qube quadrant inside the Metrocentre. Like all the restaurants in the Qube, The Handmade Burger co. is an open fronted venue, but has the good grace to set it’s tables well back from the Mall walkways so there is no chance of feeling overlooked unlike some other eateries here. It has a rustic feel, with large solid tables, farmhouse style chairs and soft pleather side seating against the walls. The lighting near the rear of the eating area gets a little dim, but I expect the younger folk dont notice this one jot! The staff were young, welcoming and friendly and were happy to explain to two noobs how the ordering service worked. We were asked if we wanted drinks whilst we chose from the menu and these were brought quickly with the offer that any further drinks would be brought to us on request. The burger menu has a good choice, including lamb, chicken and vege options alongside the traditional beef. I opted for the Moroccan lamb and hubby went for the Classic beef burger and 2 side orders of chips. It wasnt too long before they arrived, hot and fresh. The chips were quite possibly the best I’ve tasted in a long while: not those awful pasty things you get in chip shops these days, but ‘proper’ chips, golden, hand cut and with real flavour. The burgers were big and juicyI can’t fault them at all and I’m damn picky about food! The salad was crisp, the dressings just right and not overpowering, allowing the tasy burger to shine through which is what you want when they are this good. Too soon, we’d munched them down and our bellies were full. A queue had started to form at the entrance and fully as satisfied as we were, it was easy to see why people were willing to wait for a seat!
