I have to say I agree with Marj on this one. Au Naturale used to be a mecca for anyone looking to pick up a household bargain and sold loads of funky knick knacks but now it just looks really tacky. I remember picking up a few really nice photo frames and candle holders only a couple of years ago but now everything is piled high and sold cheap and a lot of the stuff on the shelves is already broken! This Au Naturale store, like all the other branches I’ve been in over the past year or so, looks like a clearance Au Naturale store instead of the real thing! It’s such a shame, what went wrong? I remember when the low price tag meant you were getting value for money but now it’s more” you get what you pay for” as everything is so cheap but appalling quality.

Au Naturale used to have stock that looked great for even greater prices. What the hell happened? This isn’t a reflection on this branch — staff are friendly and happy to help — it’s its decline as a business in general. The company was in a spot of bother a couple of years ago and seemingly has recovered itself but it’s risen like a phoenix from the ashes not triumphant, but cheapened! Au Naturale’s point has always been to sell things at a reduced cost(«Big Difference, Little Price» was its tagline for a while) but I notice a big difference in the quality of stock. For a while it was selling items of a high standard for incredible prices and you’d never leave without at least a new bedspread. Now it’s a hodge podge of tacky nonsense. I got some great interiors in this very store a couple of years ago and now you are greeted at the door with lines of black, diamanté studded cushions. That’s all a matter of taste but even if you like that sort of thing the stock doesn’t look long lasting. They still do a wide, high quality selection of canvas art prints and this store is bigger than most but overall it’s just not got the choice it used to offer.

Part of a chain of Au Naturale stores in Glasgow,(there is another one at Charing Cross), this is a large shop filled with a mixture of household essentials — furniture, baskets, mugs, candles, blankets, cushions, and a selection of gifts, toys and trinkets. They also have good value arts and crafts items — canvasses, paints etc. A good place to pick up a present or stocking filler at a fairly reasonable price, and the sales are worth checking out for even better bargains.
