The doorman sets the tone for the whole club. He was racist, rude, and power tripping. I have passed this information on to my friends and nobody will be ever coming to this poor club.

Don’t go– Bouncers are terrible especially to solo travelers. Normally I refrain from writing reviews about clubs but this needs to be an exception. I arrived here a bit early around 10:30pm having heard it was the best place to go on on a Sunday night. When I arrived I asked how it was inside and the bouncer promptly responded that it was empty so I asked where I should go to have a pint and then come back afterward. He directed me next door to Cavo which was fine and I met a couple people(since I am traveling alone). Around 11:30 pm I walked out of Cavo(which was next door) and the same bouncer who I spoke with originally said that I had to have friends to come in. He knew I showed up alone an hour beforehand alone but I said okay, went back into Cavo where I had met a couple people in and waited till they were ready to go. When we(10 girls(one of which was her 21st birthday) and 2 guys in addition to myself) approached the bouncer he let all three of us guys know«we should find somewhere else». They would not let us in and the girls we were with did not want to split up. Overall, it was a terrible experience and I would not recommend anyone who is traveling to even bother with this awful place.

Been here quite a few times now, not originally from Glasgow so still finding out the places to go but everytime ive been its been a great nite! Cheap drinks, good music and always a good atmosphere! The only downfall is that sometimes it does take a while to get to the bar(all rite for me tho, im small and squeeze my way to the front!) and also the bouncers can be a bit funny if there is lads in your group-always asking where we have been etc!

Been going here occasionally for years(and regularly for a while too), if you like hip hop/R&B and good drinks promos this is the place for you! There are three rooms so there’s a mix of music for those who prefer house, indie, etc. My favourite nights are Wed(student night with all drinks £1), Fri and Sun. It gets really busy on some nights(Wed/Sun) and can get quite hot inside, but I never let that spoil my night! Getting in can be difficult for a group of guys so going early is probably the best idea, but it won’t get busy until 12−1ish.

I could never figure out why Bamboo was so popular until once when I actually got inside. The queue is always enough to put me off going there, so I’ve dingey-ed it a couple of times. Wednesday night has to be my favourite night of all. Many rooms join together in Bamboo, and you can go into each one depending on your preference for music. My favourite is the cheezy 80’s hits room, but every once in a while, I wander into the Indie room or the heavy metal room. Beers are cheap, but know what you want, and go to the bar early. The bar staff work their butts off in there, because it’s so busy; so a little patience with them helps. It’s not their fault, by the way. I always say I’m only going to stay a little while, and then before I know it, it’s shutting time. It just goes by so quickly. I was going to minus a star for the long queue, though I shouldn’t really blame them. It’s not their fault they’re so popular.

Went here on a night out with some friends who go every weekend. Nothing special but the drinks were reasonably priced and I did have a good night but that might have been more to do with the company! Very busy.

This is definitely my favourite club in Glasgow, I used to hate it, I’m not sure if it’s just got better or whether all the other clubs have just got worse? It could be a combination. The main downside is the fact this place is pretty dirty, for some reason whenever I go I always get home and my shoes are covered in mud, how does that even happen? The floors are sticky, it can get a little bit cramped and more often than not some clumsy oaf will manage to spill their drink all over you, I’m beginning to think that this is probably just the best of a bad bunch Prices are reasonable but most of the drinks taste like bleach, especially the vodka which is «Bamboo’s own» hmm… I don’t really trust it as most times I feel a little tipsy after two, I guess it’s a cheap night and everyone is usually in good spirits, there isn’t a lot of trouble here. A while ago they even had Peppa Pig stamps as proof that you’d paid. This pleased me no end but nobody else seemed to know who Peppa Pig was so I just had to enjoy the stamp myself. My favourite night to go is a Wednesday night where everything is a £1, even the proper alcohol, I was pleased as punch to find out that Baileys was also included in this £1 night, amazing! The music is good with a combination of different genres, there are three rooms, one for cheesy music, one for indie/rock music and another for some R’n’B bump and grind style music. More often than not if you request a song they will play it, which is great! It’s usually £5 to get in but often free before 11.30 with a student matric card and if you really don’t want to pay then head round to Bunker first as they give away free passes to Bamboo all night.

WHYAM I SOCOLD? Bamboo Nightclub seemed so inviting with the Q-Skip passes and the girl’s free entrance. We entered quite sober, having just come from a quiet pub, and checked our two coats together. We were given ONE ticket for our coats, which is normal in the Canadian bars we’re used to, and proceeded to have a terrible time in the 3 too-loud and most foul smelling dance floors we’ve experienced. At around 1:30am we decided we had had enough, and went to claim our coats, but were only given one. They send us to the other window, and in our confusion we remembered aloud being given only one ticket, when we’re interrupted by the bouncer who loudly says«I HIGHLY doubt that». Are they incapable of human error? According to all of the staff, it’s impossible for them to forget to give a ticket. Even though we were two confused foreigners, and could describe the approximate location of the coat(beside the one we had a ticket for), the brand of it, AND the exact place of each missing button on the coat, we were rudely interrupted each time we tried to speak with«we can’t, you have to wait». There was no line behind us, it would have taken approximately 5 seconds to see if I was right. But instead of finding a solution, and looking to the area I was motioning at with my hand, I was told to «GET [MY] HANDOUTOF [HER] FACE». The manager also stopped by to get his coat, and ignored us. We stood there being ignored, and then finally being told to move out of the way, until 3:30AM. At which point I was begrudgingly given the same coat I had pointed at two hours before. And the girl working has the nerve to say«can you tell me what size it is?». I can’t walk home 15 minutes in Glasgow’s winter without a jacket. In my experience, this was one of the most simple conflicts to resolve, and the MOST rude way I have ever been pushed aside. They apparently do not value politeness, and are incapable of solving problems for their paying customers, so if you wanted to be treated with any kind of respect STAYAWAY from this club.

Bamboo is the bump and grind basement of Glasgow, specialising in hip hop, «indie» and R&B, depending on which night of the week it is. If you’re lucky enough, you might encounter one of their old school hip hop nights, where the DJs are actually pretty talented and whose speakers have so much bass that your drinks quite literally vibrate off the table: not a bad thing in my opinion. Depending on what you’re into, it can be hit and miss in here. I’ve had some really decent nights here, enjoying some marvellously mixed old school hip hop and soul, however there have been others when I’ve felt horrendously uncomfortable at the lecherous males who like to dance a little to close for comfort to the unimpressed ladies present, to a soundtrack of sleazy R&B. Overall it’s not a bad club, which is always queued right along the street, so they must be doing something right.

Bamboo is most popular with students and seems to be preferred to the Garage by a good portion of my friends, possibly for being a bit trendier and not having quite as much ‘cheesy pop’ music, though it doesn’t seem to attract quite as many poseurs as nearby Kushion. Despite attracting a lot of students, it also bizarrely seems to attract quite a few footballers, particularly Celtic players. In terms of prices it is quite simliar to the Garage, with decent £1.50 vodka/shot offers and on a Wednesday, £1 for most drinks, which is excellent. It is quite a small club, meaning it can be heaving at the weekends, so queing at the bar can be a bit of a nightmare. Unfortunately the bouncers at Bamboo, like a lot of other places in the city, can be a bit unreasonable at times. A good portion of the amount of times I have queued at the door I have been knocked back and they have refused to give me a reason why, despite only being with one mate, smartly dressed and sober as a baby in a nun’s womb. They used to have a good rock night, in one room only, at Bamboo too, but unfortunately it seems to have been done away with. They also don’t offer Jack Daniels — what’s that all about?

Bamboo is open for five distinctly average nights of the week. Wednesday — Sunday, to be precise. With three different rooms, there’s variation in the music, but depressingly little when it comes to the clientele. You know who I’m talking about, Unilocalers — the fish pout brigade, busy pulling poses. Generally a bit shit, the queues are humongous, the ceiling’s low and the bouncers are very hit and miss. The house vodka also tastes like it was made in a bathtub. Here’s another gripe. I’ve never once given this nightclub my number, yet they’ve managed to get ahold of it, and now I receive weekly messages, informing me that«Mondays are cancelled.» Well, so’s my association with this dump.

Bamboo, unfortunately, is another ‘hit or miss’ place for me. Sometimes you’ll go, such as a Wednesday, and it’ll be relatively busy, the tunes will be decent, and the drinks are cheap. If you’re there with a good crowd, then you should technically have a good night. On a bad night however, you have to deal with sweaty dancing people, crazy drunks and not being able to get to the bar. The three rooms in bamboo are generally r’n’b *shudder*, indie, and floorfillers which means that they try to cater for everyones tastes. Be warned, as this doesn’t always work. If you generally enjoy busy bars and clubs, then you’ll love this place. But make sure you get there before 12 otherwise the door prices are ridiculous, and you may not actually get it. Food for thought/random thought: Everytime I walk down the small corridor between Room 1 and Room 2, I can’t help but remember that NHS Scotland anti-cocaine advert — the one where the guys stumbles through the club as his heart beats wildly through his chest? Yup, it was filmed in here…

I like Bamboo. This was the final stop on my 21st birthday extravaganza. We arrived well before 11 to make sure we got in and it was… empty. So we sat around looking like idiots until it began to fill up. Well, actually we spent most of the time at the bar since it was £1 a drink. Yes, the drinks were served in marked, scratched, dishwasher-warm glasses, but by this stage we were all fairly trollied and just kept going«One pound?! Only one pound!?». So yeah. Anyway, it seemed like the place became absolutely chockers within the space of 5 minutes. This was remedied by opening up other rooms, but on the whole, I would say it was a bit too crowded and sweaty for me. But I guess that’s my own fault for going to a decent club in Glasgow on a Friday night when it’s £1 a drink…

Club catering mostly for students as it has weekly cheap drinks offers throughout the week. £1 a drink all drinks, even on Friday till a certain point in the evening! Has resident DJ’s who are not bad but also plays host to the occasional guest such as Dimitri and DJ Jazzy Jeff! A good night can definitely be had here but it also attracts the ‘I think I’m god folk’ so beware! Also look out for free passes for the club in pubs in town before going or the entrance fee may sting you unnecessarily.

this is a strange club — i will always remember my first ever night in glasgow(six years ago now), was spent wondering what the hell i was doing there! they do have a rock night called alternative nation on thursdays, which is great fun with lots of drinks promos and well worth a look. bizarrely though, it only occupies one room of the club, with the regular mix of pop and hip-hop being prelevant in the other room — which can lead to drunken confusion! being a basement venue, the steps leading down to the entrance are treacherous in any other weather than blazing sunshine, especially if you’ve had a few!

I had my xmas nite out in here and to be honest i don’t see what all the fuss is about as it’s pretty standard . THe prices were ok but i didn’t really like the place . The bouncers were pretty arrogant and couldnt have a laugh whisc to me explains a place very well . Inside was quite stuffy and i thought it was hard to find your way about, it was absoloutely packed that night and there wasn’t any room to move . The toilets where pretty decent but really busy . It is safe to say that i won’t be grazing this place again with my presence . The only good thing I have to say about the place was the music was pretty decent and seemed varied

Bamboo is quite small in comparison to other clubs in Glasgow and the majority of the time it’s very busy. Guaranteed to have to queue to get in. Quite nice décor inside. There are a few rooms all playing different types of music, there’s the Pop room, R’n’B room and an Indie room right at the back. I usually prefer this as it’s not quite as busy as the other rooms. The music they play is good. Not too keen on the R’n’B room as it’s overly busy and very, very hot. Bar is always mobbed so be prepared to wait for a bit before being served. Overall it’s a good night out though.

I think this club is one of the best in glasgow at the moment, it has space to dance, getting a drink is normally quite quick, and a great range of people, its not scary and is neither pretentious. A great balance! Music is fab, a great mix depending on the night and offers great promos on week nights, would highly recommend it!
