I nearly walked straight past Beauty Beehive when I was trying to find it. Pay attention or you’ll miss it! The entrance is right next door to a pool hall and you need to go up some stairs to get into the salon. I’m not sure why, but I’m always a bit wary of businesses that aren’t at street level. I’m often presented with evidence that this wariness is unfounded, but I can’t seem to shift it. That’s my failing and you shouldn’t let it put you off visiting this salon. I was about 5 minutes early for my appointment but Nicola, my hair dresser for the day, was already ready and whisked me off for a consultation before we got started. I was surprised be very happy to discover that I would be sitting in a massage chair while my hair was washed. It’s a bit of a weird sensation but definitely pretty cool! Now, I’m kind of awkward and always struggle to make small talk. It’s one of the reasons I don’t get my hair cut more often. However, Nicola was quite happy chatting away and we managed to get on just fine. She asked me a whole bunch of questions about how I like my hair, what I wanted doing, how much time I have for styling in the morning and so on before we got started. Once it was cut she suggested styling it for me in a way I wouldn’t normally do, but I totally loved it. I spent the rest of my day swishing my hair about. I suspect I’ll be back!
