Fabulous deli, with unusual and exotic goods, fine wines and a growing range of great food. Also does themed drinks tastings, wine courses and the occasional private function. Lovely staff. Highly recommend.

What a lovely deli! I popped here for a morning tea meet up with the lovely Alison M, and was really impressed with the place. There aren’t enough nice little delis around any more and Billington’s is really special. We were sitting in at the few seats at the front — there’s probably about 10 seats so I can imagine on the week it would get pretty busy. I was just having a cup of tea, they take orders at the counter and they also have a nice selection of baked goods. On my way out, I decided to grab a couple of items to takeaway. They’ve got booze, condiments and a delicious fresh counter which looks really good. I got two pizza-type breads to take home topped with tomato and goat’s cheese for £2.50 each(I wish I could remember what they were called — see photo!) as well as a chocolate brownie for my choc-addict husband. When I was paying for these, I noticed they sell teeny bottles of booze so got a bottle of Rock Rose gin to try before committing to a full bottle — great idea! I would definitely head back to this lovely deli when I’m in the area again. Well worth a visit!

Living in Lenzie, Billingtons is a godsend. It is definitely at the heart of the town as a place to meet, eat and drink, and pick up some excellent food and drink. It is long and narrow with an excellent range of wines, beers and spirits, freshly baked breads, chocolates, and other deli goods. The deli counter has a good supply of sliced meats, cheeses, and they make excellent sandwiches with your choice of bread and filling. There is always some delicious home cooked produce such as lasagne and quiches and beautiful homemade soups… My most recent favourite find in Billingtons are their brownies. The salted caramel brownie is truly one of the best brownies I have ever tasted. Soft, fudgy, chocolatey, with a hint of salted caramel — they are as comforting as a big warm hug! Billingtons also has an excellent ice cream counter with a huge range of sprinkles and toppings. My toddler loves a trip here for ice cream! They host regular tasting and events nights. The Billingtons Facebook page is definitely worth a follow to keep up to date with upcoming events. They really do know how to champion the produce that they stock. One of best things about Billingtons is the people that work there. Mark and Sue who own Billingtons are so friendly, and it is clear they are lovely to work for by how lovely and happy and helpful all their staff are… Long live Billingtons!

The only major complaint I have about Billington’s is that is isn’t closer to my house! I’d seen them pop up on Twitter a few times and I do love me a good deli, so I popped in here today on my way home from work. I’d promised myself to try and only spend a tenner and it’s a good thing I did — or I might have bought the entire shop! Having drooled over their photos on social media I decided I had to get a couple of quiches for me and my Mum — goats cheese and asparagus were the ones on offer and I managed to snap up the last two! They also stock Poporopo popcorn which I devoured at the Unilocal quiz night at the Sparkle Horse back in November, so I was pretty excited to be able to get my hands on some more.(Peanut butter caramel, yum!) I also picked up a bottle of Caesar Augustus because beer. I spent a few pennies over a tenner which I thought was pretty good for the amount and quality of stuff I got! They have a good selection of different beverages like beer, wine and soft drinks including Fentiman’s. You can get sandwiches made up and they have loads of different meats and cheeses too! I noticed they had a fair few baked goods but I didn’t let myself have a proper look at them because I knew that would be dangerous — from the quick glance I had they did look pretty darned tasty though! I was also sorely tempted to buy a mahoosive pork pie, but on this occasion I managed to resist. Another time perhaps! The staff were lovely the whole time I was in and the place has a really friendly and welcoming vibe to it. They also have a wee sit in bit so I think it would be really lovely to come back for something to eat and a coffee. You can expect a review update when I do, I don’t think it will be too long before that happens, hope so anyway!
