I can’t really say that I’m 5-star excited about getting my eyes tested, but when it’s free, quick, easy, simple and painless, I can’t really justify only giving them a 4 star review. So 5 it is. Being a person of 4 eyes since I was 20, I’ve had a tonne of eye tests. And they are all just as boring yet stressful as one another — I mean, all that«1 or 2» nonsense and«which line can you read?» when you can’t actually read any of them. I’m always worried that I’ll end up with the totally wrong prescription because I got an answer wrong along the way. This Boots takes bookings online(super easy) and then you get a wee letter reminder, and show up for your appointment. Thanks to our amazing NHS, the appointment is free(I think you get a free eye test every 2 years in Scotland). This Boots is pretty standard in terms of the testing — an assistant did my eye health checks and then I saw the optician for the tough questions. All up, it took about an hour but it was a very comprehensive test and the optician talked through the health of my eyes and change in my prescription. She then handed me over to a member of staff who could help me choosing a pair of glasses. They have a good enough range of frames here although I do feel like it’s aimed at older folk rather than cool young, hip people like me(ahem). I had a bit of a browse but didn’t see anything that caught my eye(probably because I’ve got such terrible vision) and thought I’d return another day instead. I’ve been here for an eye test previously, and I’d come back again — the staff are friendly and helpful, and not pushy with trying to sell you frames.
