BRGR is a great place to head for a quick bite to eat, ideal for lunch or dinner. It’s probably the best place to head to in the West end when it comes to burgers. Situated just a few minutes from Kelvinbridge station, and across the road from Coopers, BRGR is one of the newer burger places to open in the city. The restaurant area itself isn’t very big, so I wouldn’t reccomend it for larger parties. It can get quite busy, but the turnaround is very quick so you won’t have to wait long for a table. The service is casual, but attentive. Food is served pretty no frills, burgers come wrapped in tinfoil with their own burger holders too. Sauces are brought along with a big roll of kitchen roll, no need for airs and graces here! There’s quite a decent selection on offer when it comes to the burgers. I’m a very dull person, so I’ve only ever tried the cheeseburger. It’s always been very tasty, the burger and bun are delicious. The fries are also very good, I’d reccomend the poutine(to share though), it’s delicious. If you go Monday-Friday, all the burgers are £4, which is great value for money. Drinks are the standard bottled soft drinks. They do a promo for £2 on bottled beers or cider which is great value. The alcoholic milkshakes are also great as well, I’ve had the one with kracken in it, a must for a rum lover!

In a world full of Five Guys, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Handmade Burger Company and goodness knows who else, BRGR is an authentic, stripped back experience that’s easy to fall in love with. This bustling but cozy cabin on Great Western Road specialises in it’s own dressed up Brioche Bun burgers, with a menu quite similar in size to a kids toy range that will make you want to «collect them all» so to speak… As a dining experience, you won’t find yourself with a napkin and cutlery here, but you’ll be welcomed and shown to a table spot by someone when you come in. You’ll be asked the obligatory«Have you been here before?» question, eluding that the protocol is different from what’s normally done at places that sell food. It’s really quite simple however. On weekdays most burgers are £4 exactly as a «deal». Weekends are £5. Table staff will take your order when you’re ready or you can go crazy and walk the full 3 paces up to the counter and order«Nandos style» Beyond the amazing quality and sophistication of the actual the bUrger team BRGR produce, what’s probably the most impressive thing is how it’s served. While no cutlery is the default, you’ll be given your own card«Hawder» — a fold up pouch that allows you to hold your burger in hand, without half of it falling out the other end and causing embarrassment. Instead of dainty napkins, tables are entrusted with entire rolls of kitchen towel. Instead of plates, your order cknes in a neat foil parcel. Sauce sachets are out, and in with the diner style ketchup bottles and special house mayonnaise(I think) The service isn’t as fast as your McDonalds, but that’s because instead of being cooked in 14 seconds from frozen, BRGR do all their steak mince burgers medium. As someone who’s only ever asked for a steak well done historically, I found it new and slightly terrifying, but it’s genuinely one of the best burgers you can have in the city, and it’ll leave you with change from a fiver for a can of Irn Bru. The only slight downsides that I’ve had at BRGR as a semi-frequent visitor has been *leaving* Paying as a group is quite easy, as multiple cards can be taken for one order, but once you’ve asked for the bill we’ve often found ourselves waiting for the staff to take the orders of new walk ins before we’ve even seen the card machine. This is odd. Particularly since we’re taking up space that could otherwise be more effectively utilised… Another thing to avoid with BRGR are their wing«sides» — with a small side of chicken wings costing £3 for what must literally be 3 of he smallest chicken wings on the planet, you’re better off sticking to their wholesome sweet potato fries instead. As the name suggests, BRGR is meaty place. But you may be surprised by how good their chicken(and bacon) Cesar salad is. If for some strange reason you feel like a little bit more of the green stuff, it can be a great alternative — providing whoever’s on shift goes to the effort of *drying* the lettuce leaves before bundling it all into the box. There’s nothing worse than having a small paddling pool in your lunch box

If you’re looking for a quick bite, BRGR gets the job done! If, on the other hand, you want somewhere to sit around and have a proper catch up over food, better keep looking. It seems very child-friendly, but the atmosphere doesn’t lend itself to a leisurely Sunday lunch with old friends — something I admittedly only expected because I hadn’t done my homework. By the time I realised this, however, we were already being seated, so I decided to roll with it. After some deliberation, I opted for the Breaded Piece chicken burger, while my friend got the Cheese & Bacon BP, which is essentially the same, only — you guessed it — with cheese and bacon on top. We also shared a portion of hand-cut fries. Maybe because I was famished, but the fries seemed delicious, although perhaps not as crisp as they could be. The burger itself was enjoyable, but lacked distinct flavour. My friend assured me that the cheese really brought it all together, so I’d recommend that one instead. Bit neither here nor there, but the mustard is delicious! Also THEBRGRHAWDERS. All of my yes. All in all, a place I’d happily return to try out a few more menu options, but not somewhere I’d go on a date.

The Mac and cheese in this place is wicked! I had the Philly cheese steak. It was very nice. The sweet potato fries were disgusting though, the Parmesan seasoning was non existent. My dog ate the fries, soggy to the point of being really depressing, they just tasted awful. I wanted onion rings, but was told they didn’t have any. How can you run out of onions in the west end of Glasgow? For that reason, and the soggy fries, only 3 stars. May give it a try again, but it was nothing special.

After a long day picketing the Scotland v Qatar game in Edinburgh, we got back to Glasgow around 9.30. It was too late to cook anything and too late to go for a massive sit down dinner so, something quick would have to do and BRGR it was. The music was quite loud and, well, crap and unnecessary. The service was really good and the server pointed out deals to us such as the £2 bottles and £2 glasses of wine! All burgers were only £4 which was great value. I had a classic burger and Ewan had the Bacon and cheese chicken burger. Both were tasty and we had Cajun fries to share(could have been doing with one each though!) The burgers came wrapped in tinfoil and came with a ‘hauder’ which was great because burgers these days, if they have too much on them, can often fall apart. However BRGRs burgers seem to stick together pretty well. The fries were quite spicy but really tasty. All in all a decent experience and would be a 4* if they turned the ‘music’ down(oh my god does this make me old?!). I’ve been to worse burger places where it’s double the price. Will be back.

The burgers are pretty good, and their recent promotions have brought the prices into practically fast food range. Shakes are also nice there. They only get three stars because of two things I find less than awesome. One is that everything is disposable — your food comes in paper or cardboard wrappers and even utensils are cheap wood disposable things. I guess this keeps costs down but it’s hard to eat a burger with no bun in a cardboard box with a wooden fork and knife. The second is that the service can be good, but there’s a tendency for staff to hang out at the back of the restaurant and it’s sometimes hard to get someone’s attention. It tends to be hit or miss — the servers are usually really good when they are with you, but the ghosting is problematic. Maybe the answer is takeaway, which is available.

BRGR is an indie burger joint where you can get a burger, fries and a milkshake for less than £10. Glasgow is full of burger restaurants but this place seems like a middle ground between paying quite a bit and going to McDonalds. Monday to Friday all the burgers are £4 and I was impressed with their selection as they had lamb, chicken and veggie options as well as beef and lots of toppings. They’ve also got various sides like poutine and sweet potato fries. And some great milkshake flavours like Oreo, Kinder Egg and Ferrero Rocher, yum! I went for the Big Cheese, a classic cheeseburger. I was a bit dissapointed, the patty was a good size but drier than it should have been and there wasn’t much cheese or burger sauce(you add your own ketchup). I also think fried onions are an essential on a burger but that’s just me! It came on a brioche bun and again my preference is for a toasted sesame bun(not very cool I know!). I think the burgers here might be a bit hit and miss as I’ve seen photos that look really good. I did love the Ferrero Rocher milkshake though, who wouldn’t? It was really busy when I went in and seems to attract lots of high school kids at lunchtime. The staff were efficient and helpful but I did wait a while for my burger so it’s not the place to go if you’re in a rush. I think I’d give BRGR another go and maybe try some other menu options and definitely a Kinder Egg milkshake!

Oh ho, a choice of places I hadn’t eaten in. BRGR, the old Black Rabbit won the vote, we’d settle for a drink in the Crafty Pig after. It’s a trendy burger joint, small but brash, and I walked in and I liked it. Our gregarious waiter showed us to a table and explained how the menu… and the wee burger hauder worked, Scottish ingenuity right there! I was impressed by all the different daily offers, brilliant for the local student population. I went for the three sliders option, a Highland Coo(beef with haggis, and more), a Blue Cheese & Bacon beefburger, and The Fleece(lamb with mango salsa and mint yogurt sauce). My partner had a special, a Southern Fried Chicken Burger. We were advised by the waitress to get hand-cut fries each too, so we did. Another great thing was the deal they were doing on Sol, it took me right back to the 90s, £2 a bottle if I remember right. Everything came at once, unfortunately I didn’t get to use my burger hauder, my sliders were too small. The server did appear with a kitchen roll each though, so yes I was a bit concerned, but they weren’t messy at all. The sliders were all good, all well flavoured with lots of toppings and plenty of juicy meat to chomp. The chips were very decent too. We both agreed we’d had a good wee lunch! Trying to pay the bill was the most difficult bit, the music was ramped up so much even though the waiter was a foot away from me he didn’t hear me ask, I ended up using semaphore to get his attention after he’d went to the other end of the restaurant. Happy experience all round though!

Came here with a few friends in a late Saturday afternoon. We were seated quickly and got order taken. And this is where the good experience ended. We waited at least 45 minutes for our burgers and sides. After the long wait we were hoping that at least the meal will compensate. However, this was one of the most dissapointing burgers we have had for a while. Our burgers were missing toppings(which were listed on the menu as part of the burgers) and they tasted nothing more than average. We complained for both the missing ingredients and the long wait however weren’t offered any compensation or an apology. Glasgow has so many nicer burger places and we will not be coming back.

As comical as Ed Miliband & his Bacon Roll 3 burgers were ordered and 3 old fogies had trouble working out the mechanics of how to manœuvre the monsters into our mouths without shooting them out the bun onto the floor. The waitress advised us to use our cardboard burger holders(yes, you heard right), but the soggy lettuce and fat soon disintegrated these Ikea-esque contraptions. Surprisingly(to me anyway) no one else in the restaurant appeared to be as incompetent as us and the staff became increasingly amused by our request for plates, forks and knives. But to be fair every request was keenly delivered(although they don’t have plates) by the friendly pair. So after«eating» like a bunch of demented 2 year-olds, we sat back and surveyed our self-made bomb site and gathered our thoughts — «Damn tasty burgers! When are we coming back for more burger eating fun? But with bibs and plastic plates of course.»

BRGR(Yes I hate the name too) is exactly what you would expect now of a new burger bar — Lots of faux reclaimed style stuff, simple wooden benches, basic tables and on trend lighting. No proper cutlery, kitchen rolls on the tables… you get the idea! It is quite a small space but I think they have used it well, although the tables are pretty crammed in together but in this size of the restaurant they haven’t really had a choice. It is a perfectly pleasant environment and I have no really strong feelings about it. The service was fantastic, we had a lovely girl as our waitress who was dressed up as a hip hop rapper(i think) for Halloween who was great. She was always on hand if we needed something and was chatty without being in your face. In fact all the staff we spoke to which included a mummy and a skeleton were really friendly. I am not going to lie after hearing about their boozy milkshakes the first thing I looked at was the drinks menu. In honour of House Of Herby and her unhealthy relationship with Malibu I had to order The Bounty — a vanilla milkshake with a shot of malibu. The drink when it came was a massive serving but I couldn’t taste the Malibu at all because the drink was so big. I asked for a second shot of Malibu which did make it taste slightly more coconut but at £10.50 by the time I got the second shot it was pretty expensive. I probably wouldn’t order another boozy milkshake but I would definitely order one of their normal vanilla milkshake as it did taste great, just not boozy. The menu consists of the tried and tested burger menu of a selection of Burgers, wings and sides to choose from. I opted to try The Barbie… Ken? which consisted of a beef patty topped with onion rings, smoked onions, pickled cucumber, crisp lettuce, BRGR relish and BBQ Sauce. Oh god where do I start? I really wasn’t into it at all… the patty was quite an odd texture which I didn’t like and I felt quite meh about the taste. I am pretty sure the burgers are fresh but if you told me they were frozen I would believe you. Unfortunately they forgot to add the BBQ sauce and BRGR relish it to my burger which I didn’t realise until I was more or less finished and at that point there seemed little point in asking for any, if I’d realised straight away I would of sent it back. I could taste the pickled cucumber which were nice and added some flavour to my burger. To top this off the burgers was horrendously messy and completely fell apart when we tried to eat them. The sides on the other hand were all total winners — the sweet potato fries were amongst the best in the city, the mac and cheese was cheesy, gooey and delicious. The onion rings were MASSIVE, tasty and crisp and the roosters fries were really great. I left about half my burger but completely demolished most of the sides we got. All in all I wouldn’t make a special trip back to BRGR but if I was passing and was hungry I would stop in for something to eat. I would say though that the things I didn’t like about this place were down to personal taste so definitely worth popping in to try if you were passing and in the mood for a burger.

Really not convinced by this place. We popped in for a late burger about a month ago and the quality of food on offer was poor and the staff were far from friendly. The burger tasted like it had come out a freezer and been reheated. It was a weird purple colour inside and was really far from the high standards set by other places doing a similar style of food in Glasgow at the moment. I was asked how the burger was and said I thought it was pretty poor. The waitress said she would get the manager to come and see me. We waited and waited… He refused to come out. I was not expecting anything more than a couple of words to enquire what the issue was, but he left his staff to pass on the news. Anyways if you have got used to great big messy durty tasty burgers I would really give this place a miss. As the ones on offer here are a limp slightly sad imposter.

Yes, it’s true. Glasgow is absolutely DAFT for burgers. Smokehouse restaurants and burger joints are plentiful in Glasgow, so what’s another? The west end is the part of Glasgow which doesn’t host many burger places, unlike the south side and city centre so BRGR have arrived to change that! I have to say, I don’t understand why everyone is so fascinated by the lack of vowels in their name. Ain’t nobody got time for no vowels, we got burgers to eat. BRGR opened their doors last week on Great Western Road and were handing out free burgers in exchange for donations to Unite Against Cancer — a noble cause. Now that they’re opened they’re flipping burgers and serving the public, and I went in for a try! The ‘hawser’ is their added value piece — a tool for hawdin’ yir burger(holding your burger) without the use of the paper, leakages or spilling anything. I was skeptical about the Hawder, assuming it’d be more hassle than it was worth but it’s really is fit for purpose! BRGR owners took a two week tour of the USA undertaking a mammoth taste testing(poor souls…) and doing research for their burger joint. Now that they’re open and I’ve sampled their food, I’d say that I’d compare them to the likes of Gourmet Burger Kitchen. The menu, milkshakes, style of food and the business in general has a similar vibe. Glasgow has many burger places, each with their own style and I think that Glasgow’s space for a GBK has been filled. I mean, GBK don’t give you the option of booze in your milkshake, do they? No they do not! I tried one of all the sides and they’re generally really nice, but I am not a fan of their chicken wings or macaroni cheese I’m afraid — nowhere in Glasgow has impressed me in fact. It wasn’t offensive, but most places seem to make the same mistake: weak cheese. You need some proper mature cheese to give it that tangy cheese flavour that I love. In most occaisions, including this one, it was essentially just a white sauce. The Fleece burger is the first lamb burger I have ever tried and I think I prefer it to beef. Maybe it was my apetite, but I struggle to finish a beef burger of the same size and I wolfed this one down. The Scottish lamb was nicely cooked and was topped with gorgeous cumin spiced onions, yoghurt and mint sauce and a mango salsa. I can’t fault it! I really enjoyed the food at BRGR and I’d definitely recommend giving them a try. The sides were a mixed bag for me in terms of enjoyability, but I’m sure you will all make up your own minds about them. If you find somewhere that you think has better sweet potato fries and/or burger sauce I’d love to know — BRGR completely surpassed any I’ve tasted elsewhere! Welcome to Glasgow BRGR, all the best!

Brgr is the best I’ve had in Glasgow! Need I say more? First of all, you get a «hawder» to hold your burger. Pretty amazing little carton device that you fold yourself(DIY, customer co-creation, and all the jazz. That’s the marketer in me speaking, sorry.) Then, the burgers are just perfect. I had the Hot Coo, which I very much recommend if you like a bit of spice. My boyfriend had the Barbie and apparently, the onion relish is amazing too. Sides of fries, obviously, and onion rings. Both very much to recommend, although the onions were a bit fatty. And then, dear friends, you have too try the Oreo-rum milkshake. Don’t hesitate asking for a big of extra rum… it was the first time they did if for us and they were not sure of quantities, so it can’t hurt asking :-) Anyway, go go go, you won’t be disappointed!

Fast food gone wrong! So after being out for a few beers we decided to nip in for a quick burger! And the new Black Rabbit seemed to be the new place to try! Sat down crammed into little wooden seats the waitress came over and asked«what would you like to drink» I flip the menu over thinking oh drinks must be on the back? NO! So I ask do you serve alcohol? Waitress answers Yes very very vague, it was almost like i was to guess what drinks they served. I had the basic burger — over priced mcdonalds really! In fact Mc D’s probably tasted nicer! The chips were nice. Salted but needed sauce, again the servers made you guess this! On asking for the bill I disclosed that the food was average and basically the waitress brushed this off!!! Not a place I would hurry back to.

Had to be a 5 star review really, free cow tipper burger(usually£6) and free vanilla or chocolate milkshakes which were just what i needed after a long cycle. Staff are very friendly, one even going yaaay ill hug you after it was suggested, nice décor with an interesting touch of old alcohol crates making a cubby hole and a well stocked bar for the size of the place. Onto the main dish: the burger! Came out and it was pretty big, we also ordered rooster fries, i believe thats what they were called, and we were gifted our«hawder». Now obvious hodor speaking jokes aside, hawder!!! go to brgr… sorry i couldnt resist, this piece of cardboard helps you to preserve dainty fingers of cleanliness whence upon the sauce dribbles from your munched burger! It was medium to rare, nicely cooked with fresh lettuce onion and cucumber/gherkin. Also delivered was mayonaise and tomato ketchup. It was delicious, well cooked, fresh ingredients and the fries werent those stand to attention processed for the whole of their life affairs but honest to goodness tasty fries!!! All in all a good experience to whet the appitite!!!

Today was the grand opening of BRGR, who celebrated by giving away their Coo Tipper burger for free! Any add ons were, of course, chargeable but were super very affordable. Harry and I ordered a side of rooster fries between us for £2 and it was huge! The restaurant also were collecting optional donations for Unite Against Cancer. Anywho, as you might imagine they were pretty slammed as word of this fabulous promotion got out. The students were especially out in force looking to get their tea for free. They were doing sit in service only, so you couldn’t grab a burger and run. As such we had a 45 minute wait for a seat. But while we waited outside in the massive queue, they sweetened us up with free milkshakes. The strawberry and chocolate were both delicious! When we finally got our butts into some seats, we were greeted by the first of the many super sweet waiting staff. They took our drinks and side orders, and were constantly keeping us updated on the status of our food(the kitchen was still understandably backed up) and were very attentive. The restaurant even provides you with your very own ‘hawder’ to keep your fingers clean of burger juices! Finally the main event arrived… and it was definitely worth waiting for! The Coo Tipper is going on the menu at £6, and I reckon it’s worth every penny. A nice, thick burger patty with a hint of pepper served medium rare on a brioche bun with fry sauce, cheese, gherkins and salad. My tummy was indeed singing in its wake! The rooster fries were super tasty too! I’d have gotten a full size milkshake too but my wee stomach couldn’t take any more deliciousness. All in, a fabulous evening. I dare say I’ll be back to pay full price. ^^
