This is one of my favourite places to wander around in Partick to look for 2nd hand household items or furniture at a reasonable price for a good cause. This shop is pretty huge & is great place to come if you are in need of some bargain furniture. They sell beds, sofas, wardrobes, dining tables & chairs, chests of drawers, coffee tables as well as smaller items such as lamps, rugs, paintings, TVs and various other electrical goods. When we moved to the area we found ourselves in need of a few bits and bobs for the flat and stumbling across this place on Dumbarton Road was great. Partick is actually one of THE best places to get your mitts on cheap, 2nd hand furniture as there are at least 5 shops I can think selling these goods all within a few hop, skip & shimmy of each other. I would say this BHF shop is probably the largest of them all. There’s a good mix of retro/vintage, old and fairly new items here. Towards the front of the shop is where all the newer items are and towards the back are some of the more funkier, retro or older wares. We have grabbed ourselves quite a few bargains from here including an amazing vintage telephone table which was in stunning condition. It wasn’t super cheap but it was still a bargain for what it would be worth elsewhere & we just knew we HAD to have it as soon as we laid eyes on it. I’ve also bought a coat rack, lamp and a cool painting from here. If we were ever in need of a secondhand sofa or wardrobe bargain we would deffo look here. Staff are always helpful and friendly, they accept card payments & they will also hold items for you if you can’t take them home straight away. I am sure they also deliver items to your home as well, esp. the larger items they sell. Cool stuff & for a brilliant charity too ~ what’s not to like?!

The large BHF furniture showroom on Dumbarton Road is certainly worth checking out if you want some cheap furniture or electricals while helping out a worthy charity. Now, don’t set your sights too high — you’re unlikely to scoop a vintage dresser for a fiver here — a lot of the furniture is cheap MDF-based stuff. However there’s a high turnover, and wee gems do appear from time to time. To make space for incoming donations, items in the showroom are discounted if they don’t shift quickly. I’ve picked up a lovely display cabinet, tallboy /linen store and blanket box for around £30-£40 each. Compared to the Salvation Army showroom also on Dumbarton Road at Partick Cross, the prices here can seem quite steep. This is certainly true for the MDF furniture and the electricals — an old CRT television was priced over £100… rather ambitious. But the older, solid furniture can be a bargain. Remember BHF if you have unwanted furniture which is still in good condition, they will uplift and collect gift-aid on your donation when it sells. They let you know how much the charity received for your donation too, which is nice!

The British Heart Foundation Furniture and Electrical Store on Dumbarton Road is, in a word, HUGE. It has a great selection of sofas, beds, wardrobes etc as well as electrical items such as TVs, Hi-Fis and washing machines. They do have a couple of pictures and mirrors hanging about, but not many, and you won’t find any other home accessories here. As well as the donated furniture, this place also sells their own range of new furniture. It’s pretty basic, but actually quite nice. Plus, it’s not that much more expensive than the second hand stuff. If you’re looking for a bargain — stick to the electricals. TVs and HiFis start from only £20. As for the furniture, I’m sure this is a terrible thing to say in terms of being charitable BUT a lot of the furniture is quite expensive and quite hideous. Sofas start from £200 — and I don’t think I’d actually like to sit on any of them. I couldn’t help thinking that you could buy furniture cheaper from Ikea — and that it would be a lot nicer.

This place is pretty kick ass. With a wide range of just about everthing you’ll need to kit out a newly aquired house, or even just replace something thats been bustimacated, its totally worth a visit as you’ll most likely find something that will suit your needs at half the price you would pay anywhere else. the best thing about this joint is the quality of the gear, yes its in the maon used(some new i think) but its all in great condition. This is in stark comparison to some of the other smaller furniture stores nearby where it can be a bit hit and miss, altough there still worht a visit. This joint though is pretty dependable. Good gear, good selection, good pricing… good god, what are you waiting for?

This is a large chairty shop which sells mostly secondhand furniture. Unfortunately it is generally very overpriced especially when you compare it to the Salvation Army shop futher down the road. They have a wide range of furniture dating from 1920 through to a couple of years old, and have televisions and exercise equipment for sale too. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the store is clean. They do offer a home delivery service which is very helpful.
