On a night out in Glasgow from Edinburgh I love to visit the Buff Club. £3 entry which is great. Friendly, mixed, non pretentious crowd. Mixed age group and two different dance floors to suit your boogie. Busy bars but found a wee«mini bar» on the top floor where we got served straight away. I have been to this club many times and always enjoyed myself. There is however one MAJOR issue. Certain parts of this venue stink. I mean really stink. The smell of vomit on the old carpets literally made me want to vomit myself. That being said it obviously doesn’t put people off as it was really busy. Not sure I’ll return till I know the carpet issue has been addressed! C’mon Buff up yer game and get rid of those bloody carpets!

This place was fun for people watching. Came here on a Thursday.(Hip hop night) The music was so old I felt I was back at a 6th grade cafeteria dance along with the strong scent of body odor. Also people throw drinks up in the air so don’t be surprised to get wet or have a cup land om you. I would never go back ever!

I don’t have too much to say about Buff Club except I like it. In my younger days it was my club of choice and a lot has changed in it since then. It still however is a great wee place to have a boogie and with the introduction of the bar area below the main dance floor(the Buff Low-Café??) it has a nice place to relax after shuffling around in high heels all night!

I’ve been here a couple of times, attending events in the upstairs area. Overall the nights have been good but I’m not convinced I’d visit here through choice. Upstairs the area gets very very warm, admittedly there are usual hot lights blazing but it doesn’t help that it can be cramped and there is usually only one person behind the bar. Equally, we figured out that the bar downstairs(at the level you enter the Club on) was serving cheaper drinks and had a bigger variety. The main bar is well served, and they do a good line in cocktails but beyond that it’s pretty bog standard stuff. The staff are friendly though, which always helps, so whilst there are definitely many worse places in Glasgow, the Buff Club isn’t high up my list of preferences for a night out.

I’m with a number of people here, upon arriving the stench of the club is a mixture of sick and cheesy feet! Although to be fair, a lot of old clubs smell like this now, since no one can smoke within public buildings to mask the smell. Thankfully the smell seems to subside once more people piled in. It was probably the mixture of everyone perfumes and drinking a few large rums n coke helped me forget the smell! Smell aside, it’s a cool club, me and gals went there on a Saturday night to a NU School Saturday night. It played retro soul tunes, 60s music and indie — a great mix of music and we all danced the night away. Drinks are not badly priced either, presented in plastic cups — safety first! There is a main dance floor with a mezzanine level over head with seating round the perimeter. The mezzanine also holds the coat room, which seems a bit far away from everything, usually they are sited near the entrance. It was hard to find, but we got there in the end. The interior is pretty basic, old theatre style carpeted corridors, red and black colour scheme and it has that whole rough and ready style. It’s all you need really and it also means it doesn’t attract TOWIE types! Bonus! One little niggle I’ve got though and this is nothing based on the place, but the people, I guess. We arrived very early, 11pm and the place was dead! Come 12/1am is was packed, which is great but it also meant you were constantly getting pushed, drinks spilt on you and guys leching on you. One of my friends said it felt like a meat market and a lot of guys were trying their luck on anything with a pulse. Was having a great time, dancing, enjoying the music and everything, but the hassle from men really annoyed us!

Say wha? Aww here, it’s another case of Unilocala vu here for me and this place. Surely to fudge i’ve reviewed this joint before? Naw? Ok, fine then! So, I’ve been in here a number of times, usually partially guttered upon entry and entirely so whenever I pour out. The thing to point out about this place is not the drinks(the usual generic mince), not the music(cheesy poppy, nowt to write home about) or the décor(think student flat turned into a club), it’s mostly that this places appears to have a partial cloaking device which hides it from a large percentage of the fannies who frequent clubs on a Saturday night. Ok so you’re not going to be able to avoid all the numpties, but in comparison to them there clubs on the street of Sauchiehall, this place is relatively fanny free. I did however have to whip out my ‘I’m a Dad, you will behave in a proper manner young man’ to a dude who tricked his way past me in the queue to the bar. The poor chap felt bad and ended up buying me two cans of Red Stripe… after that I wasn’t angry or just disappointed in him. Aye. Hidden. Still cool. Sticky.

After having to flip a coin(it was either Biff Club or Garage…) it landed on heads for Buff Club, so after finding some free passes in Nice n Sleazys, off we went to Bath Lane in two contingencies so we would get in. We entered The Buff Club and we were honestly a bit disappointed when we found the only people in there were a group of guys. It felt like social dancing back at school where no one actually got up to dance. It was the first time any of us had actually been to Buff Club. I discovered a staircase which I then found took us down to The Butterfly and Pig where there was a brilliant Jazz/soul/swing type outfit on and the place was bouncing! After they had finished up we went again to The Buff Club and the place was starting fill up and it was looking promising, we were busting a move, and then we discovered ANOTHER floor, and the tunes were brilliant. Stevie Wonder, Aretha Frankin and Tina Turner! Brilliant! The atmosphere was brilliant, everyone was so friendly and the place was just full of people who wanted to dance to some decent tunes. Drinks were quite expensive, but I suppose that’s the price you pay for free entry and £1 drinks every other night of the week. I thoroughly enjoyed The Buff Club and I imagine I’ll be there again in the very near future.

This place is like a little breath of fresh air to the Glasgow Bar and Club Scene… somewhere that actually plays some decent tunes!!! Thank Jeeeebus for that! I ended up here after a friend had suggested it to me as I was lost as to where to go on my lovely trip to Glasgow. I am glad she suggested it. Yes, it was a Saturday night, it was rammed. But the atmosphere is not like any other club in Glasgow. Well not entirely. It is an unusual night when you are not chatted on/groped/started on! And we only had that once here. A record I would say, but it was an amusing story I have told several times since. So, tunes are retro and awesome. Bit of Jackson five upstairs, and some more modern but not chart downstairs. Drinks are not too expensive and there is a decent enough selection! Will be keeping note of this one for the next trip!

One word: sticky. Nestled amongst all the bars on Bath Street, Buff Club serves up an eclectic mix of tunes, a dance floor to get your groove on, and a couple levels to get your drink on. I had the(mis?)fortune of going here with a group of friends(25 of us to be exact) on Hogmanay. While the party was banter outside in the lane during the bells, inside was absolute chaos and a half. Pushing, shoving, and drinks being poured all around… but not in cups. We laughed and danced the night away well into the wee hours, before deciding we had too much beer poured all over us and it was time for a shower. Good night out if you manage to stay dry… or if you’re completely off your face. Side note: I think it was poor planning to carpet the floors… now patrons have the joy of their feet sticking to the floor as they walk.

So a rare opportunity arose: a night out on a Monday. I was very excited at the prospect of going dancing. Suggestions of the Buff Club were floating and I was feeling good. Memories of a good music, company and dancing from years ago were lurking in my head and I was ready to dance. As we wandered along Sauchiehall Street preparing for our ascent up and across into Bath Street we spotted some PR(?) types handing out free passes, smashing! On entering the club the first thing that hit me was a horrendous smell of fungus/cheesy feet. My body was immediately gripped with nausea. The next thing was that it was impossible to move without shoving people out of the way — meaning, of course, that I was continually shoved about as others faced the same problem. I persevered. It is not often such opportunity presents itself and I was determined to dance and have fun. It was no use. I couldn’t get to the bar to get water to tame the nausea and the music was making me feel worse. Reading the other reviews I do feel poorly qualified to write about music. But I hated it. As I got jostled in this smelly overcrowded room I looked at the faces of my companions(who were enjoying the music and seemed not to notice the smell or the overcrowding) and smiled. Projected there were crazy patterns of red and green marching across their features. Mocking their dancing and their expression, I had a small giggle. Then I went home. In the rain. Alone.

The Buff opened a few years ago now, and continues to do well long after the slightly left of centre music choice and 60s living room décor have lost their novelty. A far more respectable venue for a night out than the vast majority of clubs in the area, it attracts a mix of trendies and students, and has quite a welcoming, all-inclusive feel that hardly any other clubs in the city seem to manage. It’s also one of the few to be mobbed on a Monday night. The attendees however, are almost all bar /club workers on their night off, so unless you know people in this scene you might feel a bit like you’re the slightly unwelcome guest at a house party, flicking through the CDs and checking your phone whilst they all work the room.

The Buff Club is another place that I can add to my future list of «romantic fails». I went out for a date to The Butterfly and Pig– lovely meal– then fancied grooving the night away. Of course, I lost my date in the throng. I danced by myself for a bit, then went home. It felt like a long walk to the south side. Existential despair aside, The Buff is a pretty cool club. It manages to be pretty mainstream without being cheesy, and has a packed dance floor of enthusiastic people up for fun. It is also classy enough not to attract a rough crowd, which makes the vibe friendly… too friendly. Where did she disappear to?

The Buff Club is one of the best places to boogie in Glasgow. Hidden away on Bath Lane, it’s a cosy little club, specialising in the very best music from funk and soul to disco and dubstep. Each night of the week brings a different and diverse set of DJs, including the electroclash Killer Kitsch boys on Tuesdays and a more chilled out soulful vibe at After Hours on Wednesdays. The crowd here is a great mix, with students and seniors boogying alongside eachother without batting an eyelid. Unlike some clubs, there is no sense of dress code or age limit here, just a shared love of good music and dancing. The main dance floor is upstairs, with a few tables surrounding and a balcony and seated area with sofas upstairs chill out and watch the dancing below. Downstairs is generally more chilled out, with big comfy leather seats to sink into and enjoy the atmosphere. The Buff Club is a great all rounder, with something to suit everyone all throughout the week. The music is great and this chilled out and quirky club has a house party vibe which makes it one of the best places to be for a boogie and a banter.

Definitely one of the best clubs in Glasgow, with two different main rooms playing different music. Always a good atmosphere inside and I’ve never seen a NED withouth 50 metres of the place! Entry is £6, however the pay booth is actually the opposite direction to the way you go into the club… so it’s rather easy to get in without paying! But obviously I’m not suggesting you do this. well recommended, always makes for a great night out!

Here here! The Buff is one of the best clubs in Glasgow — I especially love Tuesday and Saturday nights… On Tuesday, the Buff is Killer Kitsch — basically, every song — old and new — you’ve ever known and loved are mixed together in an amazing way to create… Killer Kitsch. Two levels with awesome DJs, it’s just awesome! Seriously! On Saturdays upstairs can be a mix of everything — salsa, Motown, classic rock… you name it, it can be played. Downstairs is slightly different — it’s quite ‘old skool’ with classics like Madonna, The Beastie Boys, Bananarama… again, amazing. Luckily, the Buff is linked to the Butterfly and the Pig, so if you feel like pre-drinks it’s the place to go, as they often hand out free passes, as it can get quite pricey at the weekends! My only flaw with the place is that it fills up really quickly(ahh!) so if you go anytime after 12, you probably won’t get in, unless it’s extremely quiet. Also, it’s quite well hidden so you have to find it first, but trust me, it’s most definitely worth the hunt!

go here with a group of good friends, and you’re almost guaranteed to have a good time — i can’t think of a bad night i’ve spent in the buff(no pun intended). the tunes are mostly old school — 70s funk, disco, jazz, and soul, with the exception of their stellar electro night killer kitsch on tuesdays. it’s reasonalbly priced, and full of good music, good people, and good timesget in there and shake your money-maker!

Situated below the Pig and Butterfly, The Buff club is a great place to go if your looking for a club that’s a wee bit different. It’s not very big so can get quite busy but not so bad that you cant move. The music is different from alot of other clubs and plays more electro/pop jazz style tunes which always go down well. It’s not too expensive for entry either which is another plus. The décor is beautiful with gorgeous old fashioned flock style wallpaper everwhere making it seem a wee bit nicer than your other usual clubs.

I was in here to watch two shows during last year’s Glasgow Comedy Festival, and it was a great wee venue. Was a wee bit grubby, but there were new owners who were planning to do it up, without taking away the feel of the place. Did have a bit too much tartan for my liking, but the bar and staff more than made up for that. Looking forward to March 09’s shows in there!

My favourite club in Glasgow for sure. A little grubby, seriously funky and always rocking — the place and the people. Love the flock wallpaper and soulful grooves. If you pay it a visit, give your hips a sway for me.
