Café Lapadella is like the Elephant Man — looks like a pile of sin, but has a lot of heart. It’s nice to see them supporting local business by purchasing their décor from church jumble sales. But we’re not here to look at the walls, we’re here to eat. And eat you do, portions are huge. They should run a competition, every time you clear your plate you get to take home one of the horrible candlestick holders off the shelf. Generous is an understatement. The staff are very accommodating, very attentive(but not overly gratuitous) and they make a bloody good latte. Go on a week night, they break out the candles and Mediterranean music. And while you wait for your meal, see if you can spot the secret cat statue nestled amongst the other junk.

It appears I’m updating this, I was walking past the other day and saw friends inside and went to join them The veggie soup is still made with pork stock, the waiter and me had a nice wee chat about this he really doesn’t get the idea of kosher — bless The cups of tea however are pretty damm good

It appears we have stumbled upon a place that has reviews so differing in opinion that its hard to tell just what’s going on. Now having read all other entries on this place and having myself visited this joint on a number of occasions i have to say i can see both sides of the argument. Yes the service is a little dodgy, you will on occasion have to wave your hand around as if swatting a wasp to draw attention, yeah the décor is somewhat… eh…minging and tacky, some would say this adds to the charm, and aye the foods good if not great, but hey its pretty cheap! Nah, ok some folks have had bad experiences although whenever I’ve been in here its been decent if nothing special and that’s exactly what i expected, nothing more, nothing less.

A wonderful little café that serves as a café and vegetarian restaurant to the local community near Charing Cross. Just up from the now defunct Grassroots Café, and very close to the the Grassroots Store, it serves excellent vegetarian fare. Unlike the musically named Veggie places in Glasgow, it also serves meaty dishes. The euro pizza is very tasty and the prices are reasonable for all of their food. My veggie pals all love the Hummus and rate it very highly. Worth a visit if you find yourself in this area.

Great wee place for lunch. Not sure what the origins are. Greek or Turkish I imagine. Huge portions at really good prices. Unusual and varied menu. Open in evenings on BYOB basis.
