An old school roll shop mixed with a proper ice-cream parlour and sweet shop. Bizarre, yes. Excellent, yesss. Be it a roll and sausage to cure your hangover; a cold roll as a packed lunch for work or a selection of sweeties to bribe someone’s kids with — this place will have a very good range of choice for you. The prices are excellent so you won’t be breaking the bank. This will also allow you to get some breakfast/lunch rolls as well as a cheeky quarter of lemon sherbets. Oh yeah. From my experience, it’s always fairly quiet. This is slightly odd considering how tasty and cheap the food is(I put this down to the quietness of the area in general), but it does mean you’ll get fast service. It also has a good range of opening hours(I got up at crazy o’clock this morning, thus the very shut look of it in my photo) so you’ll have ample time to get your supplies for here. Good marks all round.

The sweets in this place are awesome and it reminds me of a really old-fashioned sweet shop. They have all the usuals; flying saucers, strawberry sherbets, soor plooms, aniseed balls and even a few types that I’ve never seen before. My favourite sweets have to be the rosy apples as they always remind me of going on holiday with my grandparents when I was younger. You can also get pretty decent rolls and sausage here and in summer the ice-cream is delicious too.

A takeaway rather than a café as there is no seating, this place does hot and cold rolls, breakfasts, soups, teas coffees and somewhat oddly has a cracking selection of confectionary. Everythings of a good enough standard, and you can leave here with a lunchtime feast for under £3. Only downside is slightly awkward atmosphere. If the bags under his eyes are anything to go by, the guy who works here doesn’t get much sleep so cut him some slack on that one.
