I love coffee. Seriously. From the big chains, Caffe Nero is always my first choice. This particular Nero has the best barista’s from the 4⁄5 I’ve visited in Glasgow — they’re friendly, fast and take multi-tasking to a whole new level. And most of them now know my order — Americano with soya milk. In a lot of places, the soya milk and coffee bean they use just clash and taste well, revolting. Nero doesn’t have that issue. You can sit in but if its a nice day, get take away and sit on the Concert Hall steps for 10mins. Don’t forget to lift a loyalty card and get it stamped — buy 9 and get your 10th(of any hot drink on the menu) for free!

This is the in-house coffee shop we have in House of Fraser and all the staff, myself included are quite regular showing face! The café nero staff are absolutely amazing at what they do, they cater for all there customers the same. No special treatment for people who work in the department store… everyone is an equal! They chill all there drinks, if there isn’t one of what you were looking for — they make it right in front of you. Joanna, Jakob and the staff are a true credit to the team! Standard coffee shop prices… nothing to expensive! By far worth a visit if your in Hof doing some Christmas shopping!

Darn and blast you city centre for your lack of kick ass independent coffee shops. So, when a java junkie such as myself is kicking around down town in dire need of a kick up the arse, then I’m left to choose between the big dudes. What I’ve done of late is to try to find the best of the big dudes and just metaphorically stick my fingers in my ears, go ‘na na na na’ and kid myself on that I’m not drinking a liquid thats filling the pockets of a big corporation. Nero was my latest shot of ignorance. First downer was the lack of a flat white on the menu. Ok, no big deal, but why they don’t offer one when almost everyone else does, is a tad on the odd side. It’s decent coffee, not great, not terrible, but ok. Service was ok, price was ok, but as big chain stores go, it falls below the rest. Simple as that. 3 star. Easy.
