Celino’s has been a firm favourite of mine for a few years now! No matter what I order it’s always delicious and the staff are so friendly! Lovely, relaxed atmosphere.

This place is a well known gem in the Denniestoun area, for the service, food quality and interior you would be mistaken that you were in a more central location like the merchant city. I recommend a visit, can get busy and there is no surprise why so book ahead

I have given 5 stars for a few reasons. Always great food. Great staff. Fantastic delicatessen with restaurant. One of the two best Italians around and nit expensive. Put this restaurant anywhere else and you would really struggle to get a table it’s that good

After reading a few reviews, we decided to have dinner at Celino’s and we did not regret it. We were seated immediately upon arrival, the décor was really lovely and the waiters were nice. We had brushetta & calamari for entrée which were both delicious. Then we ordered a pizza & pasta which we said we would share and so they had the half & half done for us making it easier for us to eat. The pasta was really nice but the pizza was just average. we’d definitely go back back if we were in the area again, but probably not go out of our way to get there.

Just around the corner from my flat. Celinos is an all too tempting alternative to cooking. Small, cosy and always bustling, it’s a great place for a special occasion. You’ll often see large parties in the restaurant. The menu is massive, so look online before you go if you’re anything like me and take half an hour to pick. The menu has a selection of pizzas, pastas, calzones, meat dishes, fish, salads and hundreds of amazing desserts(they’re famous for them). I always go for some pasta — everything from the carbonara to the prawn linguine is excellent. The portions are massive so I’ve yet to clear my plate. Ice cream fans will die with happiness at the sundaes available — huge and the variety is impressive. Scottish tablet is particularly good! The only negative is that sometimes a couple of the staff can be very stand-offish, bordering on rude. The last time we went in and asked for a table without a reservation we were looked at like we had committed a terrible sin. They said it was fully booked — no problem! Funnily enough as soo as we said we would go to the Italian over the road a table seemed to magically appear for us. Most of the staff are friendly and like a good bit of banter though. It’s a real East end gem. If there’s ever a sunny day in Scotland again, it’s also lovely to sit outside for breakfast and a coffee.

Celino’s is one of those authentic Italian restaurants you find in Glasgow and think to yourself, how on earth do the chain places(Jamie’s, Frankie and Benny’s, Bella Italia etc.) manage to exist when for such a similar, or even lower price you can have excellent authentic food served in a wonderful restaurant by lovely people. My starter of king prawns in a garlic and tomato broth was excellent, and good value for the freshness and quantity of the prawns. My main I had a pizza and almost OD’d on the amount of meat. As soon as I ordered the pizza(with steak, chicken, salami and BACON) I was getting pre-emptive meat sweats. But I shouldn’t have bothered, because it actually worked really well. The crusts were so good even Julie ate them and she usually can’t stand the crust! And the bacon, I was a bit worried it would be fatty, but it was proper quality thick back bacon, not overpowering the richness of the sauce, the creaminess of the cheese and the thin crisp of the base. As for dessert, the Salted Caramel Sundae(we shared this, it is a big portion) was excellent, however I would recommend asking for extra chopped nuts, as they really blew the sundae away. Salty nut chunks on top of the salted caramel sundae… I want it again soon! Top class wine too. I would have only improved it by offering some Italian craft beer, but the wine was great so I can’t complain too much. Final thing to add, we realised our train was going in 7 minutes, and managed to ask for the bill, get a card machine, pay and tip in time to be at the station with 3 minutes to go. Excellent service.

I can’t believe this place does not have more 5 star reviews. It was some of the nicest Italian food I have had outside of Italy. I know the area is a bit out the way but it is only a 5min train journey from Queen street to Alexandra Parade and then a 1min walk from train station to restaurant. It is relatively small inside but this made it feel cosy rather than claustrophobic. We ordered a lovely bottle of white wine which was from a small producer in Italy. It was only £15.95 for the bottle which I thought was very reasonable considering how tasty it was. I had the local deli platter to start and it was lovely £8.98 for a huge selection of Italian meats(4 different kinds), olives, aubergines, salad and 2 different cheeses. We were also given a hugh basket of bread to eat — this was fresh and very tasty. My only gripe about the deli platter is that I would like slightly less meat and more salad, olives and aubergines. My fiancée had chilli fried prawns to start. They perfectly cooked and very fresh. For my main I had ravioli of the day — this was spinach and ricotta in a garlic and sage butter sauce. It was delicious. It was not a massive portion but this was fine by me as had a big starter. My other half had a stonebaked pizza with steak(YESSTEAK!!), pepperoni, bacon and vegetables. It was amazing. It had the thinest base ever and had plenty of toppings. It could have gave La Favorita a good run for it’s money! We were shared a caramel shortcake sundae. This was also delicious. The bill came to £55 which for the quality of food and a bottle of wine, I thought was very good value for money. The staff were very freindly and helpful. I can’t wait to go back to try more of their menu.

Went with the two girls from work for a quick lunch as it is just 5 mins away from our work. We decided to stick to the two courses for £9.95 and I went for the patty and crispy italian bread and for my main course the chicken in whiskey sauce with rice. My colleagues went for the Patty and a bruschetta type starter with the two of them opting for the risotto for their main courses. The place was very busy for a Monday lunch time and our lunch came pretty quickly which was good for us seeing as we only had an hour. Portion sizes were fab for a set menu and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Will be back to try the main menu another night.

Celino’s is one of those places you hear so much about that you wonder if it’ll live up to expectations. I finally got the chance/excuse to visit for lunch and seriously loved my meal. This Italian deli/restaurant is super popular, and on a Thursday it nearly looked like we weren’t going to get a table. Thankfully there was a booth waiting for us in the corner which was just perfect. They offer a two course lunch but I’d just had toast at Stan’s around the corner, so just opened for a main sized portion of risotto with chicken(pollo bianco — chicken, sauteed mushrooms with cream and white wine sauce) for £8.50. Food didn’t take long to arrive and it was absolutely perfect. Restaurant risotto is always risky(especially as I make a killer risotto at home) but this one was probably up there with the best risottos I’ve ever had. I loved the cream and white wine sauce, it gave it a really luxurious feel. It looks a bit measly in the photo but I promise it was the perfect size portion for lunch. Service was warm and friendly, and generally the place has a bustling, busy vibe. I’m not sure I’d travel to the east end just to go here, but I’d definitely return when I’m in the area. Hot tip: in the deli section they sell meals to take away — lasagne, penne arrabiata, ravioli etc and they’re all under £5 for a portion which looks pretty good value for the size you get!

Love this place and so happy it’s just along the road from where we live! Regularly go to the deli for takeaway sandwiches and 9 times out of 10 it’s great. Today was one of those times and after a walk in the snow I popped in here to get lunch to take home and it was well worth it. I opted for a chicken mayo baguette(not exactly italian but very yum!) and the boyf got his usual Celinos special which is italian meats, cheese and sunblush tomatoes on a ciabatta. The guy who served me was lovely and friendly and knew what he was doing. The deli has such a great selection and it is great to have a gem like this in the east end. It’s well worth a try

I love Celino’s. Italian deli, restaurant and takeaway all in one. They have high quality Italian food stuffs, a deli counter, takeaway lunches and a full restaurant. My personal favourite is the Celino Special sandwich with parma ham, salami, cheese, sunblushed tomatoes and mayo-YUM!

OK so I needed to write a review for these guys after we had a great take away meal. We had trouble getting through on the phone to put in our order, when we did the staff were polite and efficient. I arrived to pick up our order and the place was mobbed. Lots of people waiting at the deli counter. This is my only real gripe that I could see my order waiting but it took nearly 10 mins to get served and pay for the order by which time the food was getting cold. Leaving this aside when we sat down to eat we were blessed by some of the best Italian food I have had in Glasgow. Food was fresh and full of flavour. All I ask is to have a slightly more efficient pickup process although I’m glad to see they are busy.

My partner and I popped into Celinos last night for some food. Wednesdays is Tapas night so it was very busy. So much so we were almost refused a table until the floor manager propositioned food if we vacated the table for 6.30 as a party had booked. We thought this was extremely reasonable as we were only looking for a main course. The seating is cosy and the tables are close together but not so much that you can’t chat with others at your table– it’s cosy. A major plus for myself is that the place is absolutely spick and span, toilets clean and staff well presented and very well mannered. My partner went for the calzone full of mixed meats(chicken, italian sausage and the like) it was absolutely massive and served with a salad. I opted for Macaroni with cheesy garlic bread and the sauce was just right, you can tell its the real deal. We also had limonata and peroni to acompany our meal and it came to £25-ish pound. Well worth the money. I would urge everyone to sample Celinos, it’s a delight. There’s also a deli counter that sells lots of lovely looking cheeses and meats, I haven’t yet sampled this but will certainly be back to do so. Breakfast menus are also available from 8.15−11am mon-thu(or friday, my memory fails me!) Five stars!

We ate here on Fri 3rd Jan, it was our first time here for a meal in approx a year. As always it was first class. There was a group of 5, 3 adults and 2 children. We all ate off the pre theatre menu and there was enough choice and variation to keep us satisfied. Although this was our first sit down meal here in a while we are regular visitors to the Deli counter. The meats, cheeses and anti pasti options feel like a genuine taste of Italy. This place would not be out of place in West End but I am delighted it is on my door step in the east end! See you soon!

Celinos is a small family run café and deli. I wouldn’t quite call it a restaurant as the feel of the place is quite casual. The deli sell lovely meats and cheeses to take away and their sandwiches are good. The food in the café is lovely. the seafood pasta is one of the best I’ve had. The prices are quite expensive for the setting but the food lives up to the price. Have dined using the 5pm deal which is 2 courses and a glass of wine for £10 which is good. The pizzas are thin and authentic. However I just cannot fall in love with this place like many others. mainly because of the atmosphere. It is always busy and I do go now and then because I live close by but I wouldn’t travel to here if I didn’t live close by.

This place is a superb restaurant in the heart of dennistoun. An area that is definitely not know for first class eateries. It is a deli /restaurant that you can also just order takeaway pizzas from as well. In terms of the pizzas they are really good, thin crust and full of flavour. You are getting Italian restaurant quality pizza here but are able to take it home. Definitely highly recommended. Next to sit is also great. It’s quite traditional Italian in style, but definitely does what it offers exceptionally well. Staff are really friendly and very helpful. You should go along for a visit your likely to love it!

I am ashamed I haven’t wrote this review before now…*blush* Celino’s is my local Italian restaurant/deli and I have been a customer of theirs for many years now. I first came with an old work colleague who took me here for lunch(and also couldn’t believe I hadn’t been here before!) and she had the meatball & mozzarella ciabatta(The Soprano, haha!) and I opted for the Celino Special ~ ciabatta with parma ham, salami, emmental cheese, lettuce, sun blushed tomatoes & mayo. We also ordered cappuccinos. I was impressed. Oh yes. My posh sandwich was so tasty & I vowed to come back… which I did the following week, bringing with me my boyfriend. Celino’s first opened in 1982& used to be a small Italian café & delicatessen(if you visit their website they have photos of how I first remember it looking), with only a few tables for sitting in. Now Celino’s seems to be growing by the week! Every time I pop in for eggs(they sell THE best free-range farm eggs) they seem to have squeezed in another table! This speaks volumes as to how popular Celino’s has become. Also recently they have extended their opening hours ~ they’re open until 10:30pm Mon-Sat and until 10pm on a Sunday. This was great news for me as before they only opened late on a Thurs, Fri & Sat and even then it wasn’t that late. This place really became super popular when Celino’s started their(now famous) Italian Tapas deal, which originally was only available 1 day of then week but now I think they have extended this to include other days. Their Italian Tapas menu gave you a choice of 3 tapas dishes for £11.95. Now before I had this I thought ‘£11.95 is not super cheap…” BUT for what you get this price is great! I did not expect SO much food! They’re not stingy that’s for sure. Woah. The choices of tapas dishes do change every now & then but Celino’s seem to specialise in seafood ~ I, unfortunately, have an allergy to bivalve molluscs(so this includes most seafood) so I have only ever tried a couple of the seafood dishes one being the Gamberoni Siciliana, which is always super tasty. Alongside that other tapas dishes I plump for include Pollo Milanese, Bistecca or the steak & chips(yes! Steak & chips tapas! Drooool…) The atmosphere & décor of Celino’s is really cosy & modern. Because they have tried to squeeze in as many tables as possible you can sometimes find yourself feeling a bit ‘in the way’ of passing customers or waiter/esses…but it doesn’t bother me when I know I’m gonna get a good meal. The staff in here are always super nice in the café/reastaurant & deli. We’re in here quite a lot but even when we first started visiting they were always really friendly to us. Their A La Carte menu is full to the brim of delicious Italian meals including great pizzas, very yummy calamari(we order this almost every time we’re here!), hunners of pasta dishes, risottos, seafood, steaks, veal & chicken dishes. My favourites are all their chicken dishes(it’s hard for me to pick one!) & any of the their risottos. Delicious. Oh also their chips are very good too! As well as their deli, café & restaurant they also offer many tasty take-away options including a few of their pasta & risotto dishes. These are brilliant for those evenings when you can’t be bothered cooking or you don’t fancy a regular take-away. I’ve had their risotto to take-away & it was so good & you get a great sized portion too for the price. They also sell their own garlic bread to take-away too if you fancy that. The coffee here is lovely too & I often pop in for a take-away Americano as a wee treat for myself. The deli has a brilliant selection of cold meats, cheeses, homemade risotto balls, loads of antipasto dishes & also various pastries & cakes too. They have also recently started selling bagels & a few other cream cakes, all of which look so good. There’s also a wee shop bit as you walk in selling various Italian produce. Even though I am(sadly) moving away from the area soon I’m sure I shall still be back to Celino’s for my Italian fix. They’re so handy for the Alexandra Parade train station & various buses so no excuses! If you haven’t ventured East, along Alexandra Parade to make a visit to Celino’s then please make the time & effort to. Celino’s is a great wee family run Italian restaurant/café/deli and it deserves your attention. Ciao for now.
