This was such a fun idea and many many thanks to the wonderful Unilocaler Eilidh G for organising with fabulous assistance from David A and Rob K. This was not just a cocktail crawl this was a Cocktrail. It involved a quiz so we had to figure out our drink and our next destination. Not only this but cocktail themed questions at each venue. I was in the lead for ages but I was pipped at the post Deb M who won and got her dinner paid for at the Tiki Bar. If it wasn’t for that damn The Piña Colada Song. Not that I’m bitter. Haha! I felt it was a great idea to hold on a Sunday afternoon, it was an opporchancity to visit fantastic cocktail bars. Some I had been to before but some were new to me. I felt it was a very well organised unofficial Unilocal event so massive thank you again to Eilidh and co and I hope we can have another again. If you missed out this time don’t miss the next one as it’s so much fun.

One driech Glasswegian Summer afternoon myself and the Mr joined CM Briony and Elite Eilidh for a quick trial run around half the cocktail bars in Glasgow — the result: Miss Eilidh G’s inaugural Cocktail Trail UYE. Now, cocktails are not really my thing, but I had a great time trying out some great drinks. Complete with quizzes, anagrams and clues to find the next bar, we had a jam packed funfilled day. In all. We visited: Hard Rock Café, October, Blue Dog, MalBar, Slouch and Tiki Bar. My favourite cocktail was the Tom Collins from Blue Dog — but my actual favourite drink of the day was the Mount Gay Eclipse rum from MalBar. Congrats to our very own Sunny D, Debs M, for winning the grand prize of the day(dinner at Tiki) Bring on the next Trail

Woooooo! I had such a lot of fun on the Cocktail Trail — it was a perfect afternoon drinking cocktails with some truly lovely peeps, and is also a concept I’ll be bringing to my family, as when I mentioned it to one of my many cousins, she was well up for it! Throw in my Mum and a few of our aunties/more cousins and I’m sure the end result will be hilarious! But I digress. I thought the Cocktail Trail was a brilliant idea from the get-go and I’d been looking forward to it for absolutely ages. It became clear on the day that Eilidh, Briony, Rob and David(especially Eilidh of course) had put in a fair amount of work to make sure the day ran as smoothly as it did, so thanks guys! The premise was that we got points for guessing clues(anagrams) for cocktails and our next destinations, with bonus points if we purchased the cocktail at each location. There were also further questions to test us on the pubs/bars we’d been in over the day and cocktail knowledge in general, which was pretty funny, especially trying to remember details I wish I’d taken more notice of in some places! Very well played indeed. We ended up going to the Hard Rock Café, October, Blue Dog, MalBar, Slouch and Tiki Bar where we got some tasty grub as well — some places I’d been to before but some places I hadn’t(or at least not for a while!) so it was nice to check them out. It was fun trying cocktails I perhaps wouldn’t have gone for otherwise(my favourite in Slouch is the Sweet Emotion and I always have that when I’m able, but I really enjoyed the Roll With It!) although I didn’t partake of the Clover Club in the MalBar as I’m not a fan at all of gin or vermouth, so I was very sure I wouldn’t enjoy it at all.(I was also driving around 8am the next day and I value being legally allowed to drive so y’know…) An excellent idea, brilliantly executed! Bravo!

The Cocktail Trail afternoon(some people chose to abbreviate it… I won’t) was SOMUCHFUN! Thanks to the amazing Eilidh G for putting so much time and effort into arranging this, it was an afternoon of epic proportions and a total laugh. She had planned an afternoon taking in some of Glasgow’s best cocktail bars via the medium of puzzles and quizzes. At each venue, you had to solve a puzzle to work out the drink and another puzzle to solve which venue you were going to next. You also had to pay close attention in each of the bars as there was a quiz at the end! It was great to visit some bars I hadn’t been to before and try out some new cocktails. I still highly recommend the Black Magic Woman at Slouch(like an espresso martini but with some chocolate in there too) and I also loved the Lemon Daisy at October. Yes, the Lemon Daisy is a mocktail but it is perfect with vodka in it. Hehe. The puzzles were fun to test your knowledge of Glasgow bars and Debs M was the winner — woohoo! She won a cocktail and two course meal at our final location(Tiki Bar) so huge congrats! Also, big shout out to David A & Rob K who were Eilidh’s glamorous assistants who helped plan the Cocktail Trail. I can’t wait for the next one!

What a brilliant day organised by wonderful Eilidh. A cocktail trail with a difference. A combination of a pub crawl, treasure hunt, pop quiz and cocktail masterclass, great fun. Thoroughly entertaining trying to guess the cocktail and find out where we were off to next. All the time getting to try a new and different cocktail. Some of the bars were more casual and prices were cheaper but our trail incorporated some luxury too. On average our cocktails priced approx £6 each. All round fab day out drinking delicious cocktails with lovely, lovely people. What’s not to love.
