Deco

A smashing wee café within the Western Infirmary. The space is small but they do have two tables to sit in, if you want but I was only taking away today. Staff are lovely, efficient and helpful. As well as selling soft drinks and coffee /​tea, they also have a good choice if sandwiches, salads and assorted snacks as well as hot soup.

Boy oh boy do I love this wee hidden gem of a coffee shop. It has been my saviour on many caffeine-​deprived, miserable days working at the Western Infirmary (or Gartnavel, they also have a café there too).
I guess if you’ve never been to the Western Infirmary hospital, or even just to this part (Phase 3) of the Western (or the WIG as us in the ‘biz’ call it, dahlings) you’ll never have had the fortune of stumbling across this wee cutie of a coffee shop. It is wee (only a couple of tables & a bar bit) but my is it perfectly formed. Hubba-​hubba! There’s something for everyone at this wee café; obviously coffees of many varieties, tea/​s, hot chocolate, etc. sandwiches, soup, paninis, pastries, fruit, chocolate bars, biscuits, you name it! How they pack it all in such a dainty space I do not know.
I was about to say my favourite here is the cappuccino (with an extra shot — ZING!) but I’ve also had lattes, americanos, flat whites & flavoured coffees and they’ve all been very nice indeed. I’ve also tried their freshly baked pastries — yum. Their freshly made soup (of which they usually have at least 4 choices, brilliant) — YUM & their sandwiches too — Yuuuuuum. So yes, I give this place 3 thumbs up, I mean 2… uh…yeah, 2! (I think I may have overdosed on the caffeine today somewhat…)
What I also love about this café is their loyalty/​stamp card — every time you buy a coffee you get a wee stamp & today, I got my free coffee! Yas. Always tastes so much better don’t you agree? :) Nowt quite like a free, tasty coffee to help you work that bit harder.
I REALLY wish this small chain of coffee shops (As well as Gartnavel they also have a café in Skypark, ooh… futuristic!) would open a café in the Southern General because, well, that’s where I now work! Purely selfish reason I know but hey, what better reason?! There has even been talk at my work of a petition to get Deco to open a café in the new Southern General hospital when it is finally built (in 2014). Fingers crossed dudes!!! I will be as happy as a cat in a string factory so I would.
If ever you’re in or near the Western or Gartnavel then please remember this wee café & pay them a visit, you won’t regret it. If you do, please don’t hurt me, I bruise like a peach.
