I really wanted to love here but I left feeling a little bit disappointed by my lunch visit. I like this use of space — the café is tucked inside a large music shop and is a really nice spot to sit on Sauchiehall Street. There’s some couch seats as well as tables, and the place was pretty busy for a Thursday lunch time. They have daily special as well as a pretty comprehensive menu of hot plates and sandwiches which they call«manwich» mains. Manwich is a word I’d really like to never hear again, if I’m perfectly honest. And most of their offerings are definitely sandwiches, not manwiches. Anyway, enough about that. Food and drink orders are taken at the counter and then delivered to your table. I ordered The Shroom — garlic roasted mushroom, lettuce, tomato, guac and onion chutney which comes in at a whopping £6.95 which I consider to be a very pricey sandwich, especially seeing as there’s no meat on it. You can choose what kind of bread you want which is always good — farmhouse, wholegrain or gluten free. I was having lunch with Leanne R and her food arrived in about 5 minutes and looked really tasty — a whopping bowl of veggie Thai curry. It was at least another 5 minutes and then I decided to check they hadn’t forgotten my sandwich at the counter, and they said it was just coming out now. All up I’d say the wait for my food was around 10 – 15 minutes which I thought was a pretty long time for a sandwich even one which is made fresh. When it arrived it had a nice side salad and some crisps too, and the sandwich was very generous. Weirdly though the sandwich just had two whole mushrooms tucked inside each half which wasn’t what I expected at all — I assumed it would be chopped up or smaller mushrooms. I didn’t even try eating it with my hands and just resorted to cutlery and ate the filling. It was tasty and had a lot of garlic but I ended up leaving behind all the bread which was a waste. All up, I really wanted to love here as it’s always nice to see somewhere doing something a little different from normal, and they have a really impressive selection of vegan and gluten free options. But I think next time I’ll just stick to cake as I wasn’t all that impressed with my lunch. Note: there’s a customer loo up the stairs.

Yesterday I had a craving… I’ve never had a pumpkin spice coffee and I kept seeing those words everywhere and I thought to myself ‘I need to try this, see what all the fuss is about…’ so not wanting to line the big guys’ pockets even more than they already are(gold lined) I thought about independent/smaller coffee shops that might serve them. Thanks to a Unilocal Talk thread I spotted Briony & other lovely Unilocalers mentioning places that had the pumpkin spice syrup that weren’t the big place that rhymes with Farnucks… DeeliciousGeelicious was(kinda) on my way home and BONUSPOINTS here, open until 7pm midweek. Great. So in a toddled. This café is quite reasonably sized and is attached to Biggar’s Music shop. As Sara said in her review it does feel a tad lacking in life/soul…maybe that’s because it’s quite new… I don’t know. It’s a nice place but I think a few more tweaks here & there could make it a really lovely café. It has a decent amount of seating and I spotted a downstairs, but I’m not sure if this is part of the café or shop? A few folk were sitting in but I was here strictly for take away. There was only one guy serving but he was very lovely & friendly indeed. If I’d been hungry I would’ve definitely bought a cake as they looked/sounded really good. There were a few vegan options which was great to see and a cake made with matcha green tea that looked so cool. They serve soya milk here & also alongside the Pumpkin Spice flavour they also have Gingerbread, Amaretto, Chai Tea and a few others syrup flavours too. They were lined up on the counter which I liked as often you don’t know/can’t see what flavours coffee shops have so you need to ask & the staff reel off a biiiiig list which you’ve completely forgotten by the time they’ve told you them all *ugh* I was asked if I wanted a Regular or Large coffee, I said Regular but asked how many shots were in that, he said 1 so I got an extra shot as 1 ain’t enough for this caffeine fiend! He also said they’d run out of whipped cream but I wasn’t particularly bothered on this occasion. Can’t remember the exact price but it wasn’t particularly cheap or super expensive. Would I go back? Probably next time for the cakes, they did look good & I like that they stay open until 7pm. How was my PS coffee? It was really nice ~ I have nothing to compare it to but the flavour was quite subtle & thankfully not as sickly sweet as I imagined it could be. I was happy with my Halloween/Autumnal themed coffee. Now to try more!!!

On my first visit I had a slice of maple walnut cake and a cup of tea. The cake was really deelicious but the tea could have been better. I like a strong brew and this teabag effort didn’t cut it. I wasn’t sure about the atmosphere in here, it’s pretty big and doesn’t have much character. Efforts have been made with the branding/signage but somehow it just felt a bit plain and empty inside. I’d definitely return for one of their vegan cupcakes though. They looked amazing and there were at least six flavours to choose from. And I’ve never had a vegan cupcake so I’m curious. Aside from cake there’s also a big selection of sandwiches or «manwiches» as the menu says(which makes me ponder what a «womanwich» would be like). They all cost around £7 which makes them a bit pricier than some nearby cafes and possibly less likely to draw in the students. I think this is the kind of place you’d go for a leisurely afternoon tea, they could easily accomodate a big group of people.
