I made a stop here on my way to do some work and drink coffee. I’ll admit that my visit was more due to laziness based proximity than strong desire to try it. I’m glad I did try it. The place is small and with a somewhat focused sandwich menu, along with a larger list of sandwich specials. I ordered a buffalo dfc and a diet Irn But. The sandwich took a few minutes, just enough time to know it’s fresh but not enough to make me feel impatient. The sandwich was very good. The chicken was moist and the coating on the fried chicken was present but not overwhelming. The combo of sauces on the bun worked well together without being too drippy. Overall, this is a nice place to have a sandwich. I look forward to heading back again at some point to try more of their options. The only thing I really wish is they were open later, but that’s a complaint I have with many places.

Good food and good service. Got in before the lunch time rush but there was only one member of staff on who became a bit rushed off their feet.

As my usual haunt the Rio café was having a refit, I decided to check out Devil’s Deli, which a lot of peeps have been raving about. It was pretty empty, which is a good thing as it’s not the largest establishment around, so I made myself comfy in the window seat while I waited for my sandwich to arrive. The choice of sandwich was a bit of a no-brainer — how could I resist something called Hail Seitan! You don’t often see seitan, and it is one of the better veggie bacon substitutes around so I wasn’t going to let the opportunity pass. It came served with a wee rocket salad complete with a lovely dressing, and the whole package was so fresh it practically leapt off the plate into my mouth. Talk about a taste sensation — wow! It was a little bit spicy(but in a good way), so it certainly lived up to its name. The coffee was pretty damn fine too, no complaints on that score. I noticed on my way out that they had lobster rolls on the specials board. Being somewhat of a connoisseur of this particular crustacean-based snack, I came back at the weekend to ask for one, only to discover that they didn’t have any — auugh! I shall have to return at a future date to review those. Perhaps they could think about keeping their specials board more up to date to avoid such crushing disappointments?

In my line of work(Autism Practitioner, if you’re interested), you get to eat out with your service users. A lot. And not all of it nice(MacDonalds, Burger King, KFC, oh my!), so when you get the chance to shake things up a bit then it is a glorious day. Monday was one of those days… Our chaps had picked up their BK and none of the staff were feeling it so someone decided we should try Devil’s Deli, my two colleagues opted to try the Reuben and I went for a Hell’s Belly — shredded chicken breast, avocado and plum bacon jam on a brioche roll. Holy Mary, Mother of Cheesus(oh there was cheese on the roll too — yum!) it was easily one of the best rolls or sandwiches I’ve tried in Glasgow; the bun was lightly toasted, sweet and crispy, the chicken was juicy and tender, the plum and bacon jam(let’s just take a second to appreciate its very existence…) was rich and full of smoky and sweet flavours, with the avocado adding a nice counterbalancing freshness to the whole affair. And I love cheese on anything so added bonus! My two colleagues also both loved their Reubens; one of my workmates is from Boston and he says: «Hands down this is the best Reuben I’ve had outside of the States.» Strong words. Also each of our sandwiches was a fiver, pretty bargainous I think you’ll agree! I want to go back and try the lobster roll on my next outing please!

I have wanted to try this place for ageeees. Mainly due to all the lovely looking pics of delicious sandwiches that been put up on various social media feeds. Yesterday we went along to get some late lunch to take away and were delighted at how nice the food was. Firstly the place is small, very small, so only limited seats, but we were taking away so it did not matter. Even though it’s not that big they still let my dug in to wait with me whilst they made our lunch. The staff were very friendly and right from the off DD was making the right impression on on. I had the DFC which is fried chicken in a long sub roll with lettuce, tomato, paprika Mayo and hot sauce. It was lovely, crunchy, a good size and cooked really well. I did not want it to end. My only negative in the whole visit is that I think my roll was slightly over priced. I would say 4 quid would be fairer than 5 pounds, but it’s a tiny gripe when in general the whole experience was a really really good one. Tiny, but epic deli doing fresh food made on site as you order. Plus they are dog friendly so your mutt does not need to stare in through the window at you. You should definitely give it a try.

I had one thing on my mind, and it was the DFC burger. It’s got fried chicken, gravy, cheese, hash brown and paprika mayo. And the photos of it look amazing(see Pammi G’s photo!). I drove all the way to Devil’s Deli to get it but sadly it’s just a sometimes special and they weren’t doing it yesterday. I was crushed. I managed to hold back the tears, and requested the next-best thing on the menu, the Reuben. But they were out of pastrami, so there was no Reuben either. The guy suggested the Hell’s Belly(chicken, plum & bacon jam, avocado and cheddar in a brioche bun) instead. I grabbed a bottle of Bundaberg ginger beer(heaven!) too, handed over £8, and took a seat. This place is small — maybe 8 – 10 seats so you’ll need to get cosy with strangers if you’re wanting to eat in. They have a TV mounted on the wall so I caught up on Come Dine with Me while I waited on my food. It took maybe 10 minutes to get to me and when it arrived it was nicely presented in a wide dish with some sauerkraut and pickles too. Was the Hell’s Belly the best thing I’ve ever eaten? Nearly. Honestly, I didn’t think it was going to be so damn good and by the time I was finishing it, I seriously considered ordering another one. The flavours went together really well, the portion was super generous and there was a tonne of chicken and avocado in there. The bun is also worth mentioning on it’s own because it was super fresh and soft, the perfect match for the filling. Everything is made fresh on the premises which is why you might not always be able to get what you want. But don’t fret — I have confidence that you could eat anything on this menu and be happy with it. They were also doing a pop up at Sub Hub recently which affected this shop being open but they should be back to normal now. Also worth noting is that sandwiches can be made veggie on request. Coffee is by Dear Green and they have some delicious bakes to nibble on too. Plus you can get your food delivered if your order is over £10 and you’re local(does the south side count?!) They have a breakfast menu which looks exciting(served til 12, or all day on the weekend) and they are thinking of changing the whole menu in the coming weeks. I’ll be back as soon as I see the DFC special pop up as I seriously can’t wait to try it.

Great wee coffee shop opposite Mansfield Park. I came in here after braving the cold & heading down to the farmers’ market. I needed to defrost and & chuckling at the name I headed in. The shop has a modern feel, albeit with a good helping of old touches(they still have the original corniced ceiling & there’s a vintage bike on the wall.) They use Dear Green coffee & suki tea, an americano set me back £2, it was served in a very(dear) green cup. They also offer a small selection of baked goods & a fresh soup of the day. There’s a small counter &3 small tables for sitting inside. They have a bench outside for those brave souls who wish to sit outside. What I love about this place is that it’s another wee independent shop that’s sprung up off Byres Road. It’s run by two young, local guys. I really do wish them all the best as it’s becoming a bit of a saturated market around here. They have a hail seitan veggie sandwich, which I will come back for as it looks delish!

Great new independent sandwich and breakfast place in Partick. Lovely clean shop, polite and friendly staff. All freshly made sandwiches, breakfasts, soups, teas and coffees. Inside seating and small outside area(although at this time of year I wanted to sit inside). I have been a few times now and always thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Grear to see an new independent place opening. I will definitely be back.

This cute wee deli is a welcome addition to Partick, which on the whole lacks seriously in the deli department, which is FINE if you’re a roll n sausage kinda dude but some of us Particker’s do appreciate the occasional break from the sausage-norm now & then. Newly opened(yesterday I think?) this place offers a mostly take-away food & drink service, although there is seating inside, albeit not much. Still looks nice & comfy though. I was in for a coffee to go and it was nice & cosy inside(always a bonus this time of year) and the guys serving all seemed friendly. I had a soya cappuccino and it was really good(as far as I know they serve Dear Green here). I also really dig their wee hand-stamped cups(see photo) and a regular size cawfee was just a straight up £2. Nice. They serve a small range of Breakfast goodies(from 8am-12pm); crispy Morton’s rolls(IMHO the KING of rolls) with a variety of fillings(sausage is one of them!), toast, porridge, flapjacks, stuffed French Toast(which sounds pure FILTH) and a Moroccan breakfast, which sounds very intriguing. The prices are also pretty good — £1.50 for roll n’filling and 1 shiny quid for toast or porridge. As well as Breakfast goodies they serve some mean sounding sarnies, my 2 of choice would be the Reuben(home smoked pastrami, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing & pickles served on Rye) and the brilliantly named Hail Seitan(crispy fried seitan, beetroot crisps, honey & chilli slaw and relish on a baguette), both £5. YUM. Can’t wait to try them. The sandwich menu reminds of the Piece guys sandwiches and if they are anything like them then it will be a party in the gubs of the Partick people alright. Can’t wait to visit again & check out the devilish eats. Yas.
