Eternal Light is quite modest on the outside and not necessarily an attention grabber but you should definitely make the effort to look inside. There’s a lot of the higher standard Scottish souvenirs available here — as Katie said, those T shirts with Scottish slang printed on them, coasters with the same, some Burns ornaments. But there were some more unusual curiosities that I have never seen before — wooden pebbles with Burns script engraved on one side, some mugs with Glasgow buses through the ages on them — perfect for someone who has lived through the evolution of Glasgow from its days of ship industry and trams to now. There are some offerings in here that would be a nice touch to a birthday as they would take you on a nostalgia trip. There’s a large section of this shop dedicated to Scottish made candles, which all smell delicious, and a large selection of hand crafted jewellery for very reasonable prices. The shop keeper was friendly and receptive and this shop has more to provide than merely Scottish themed gifts. If that’s what you’re looking for it’s all there, but what you wouldn’t expect are the other trinket ideas universally themed, but unique because they are made locally. A nice touch for a birthday or just if you want to pamper yourself!

Eternal Light bills itself as a Scottish Gift shop, and sells a range of Scottish-inspired gifts. You know the type I’m talking about; t-shirts with definitions of Scottish words on, wallets with the Scottish flag on and the traditional ‘You can take the boy out of Glasgow but you can’t take Glasgow out of the boy’ type merchandise. As well as all things Scottish, Eternal Light also sells a large selection of candles(which, incidentally, make the whole shop smell lovely!) as well as jewelery. You’ll also find a whole lot of decorative signs with quotes such as «The best women don’t have hot flushes — they have power surges» and«The man who says something can’t be done shouldn’t talk to the woman who’s doing it.» You never know when they might come in useful… The shop is nicely decorated — all white with clear cut lines — and isn’t so stuffed full that you can’t see what you’re looking at. The man behind the counter was also really friendly. All in all, a perfectly pleasant little gift shop. You won’t find anything particularly unique or unusual — but you will find some funny little presents(particularly good for the Scottish-obsessed!).
