When I think of G-star I think of 15 year old guys wearing the G-star tops and hoodies to try and impress girls at the unders. So I am a little surprised that Liv Tyler is endorsing the G-Star brand at the moment, it just doesn’t seem to fit. I guess they’re trying to appeal to a wider customer base but still Liv Tyler and G-Star? It’s like chalk and cheese. It just doesn’t go. The prices here are also pretty ridiculous and essentially, you’re just paying for a label. I really don’t like banding designer labels about and think it cheapens clothes rather than making them look more expensive.

I used to really like G-Star stuff. I started buying it when it had just appeared in British stores, and felt quite the man about town. I’ve a G-Star black track top that I still wear to this day. However, having now descended into a bit of a ned label, if i was to shop here nowadays I’d just look like an old yob trying desperately to hang onto his teens. Expect Superdry and Bench stuff to go the same way before long. Give me a comfy BHS knitted jumper anyday. Now that’s fashion.

I really am not a big fan of G-Star, without sounding too much of a snob I think as a label they have become a victim of their own success; it is now the label of choice for the modern townie/ned. G-Star is hugely popular but a bit of a sell-out of a label. That is just the opinion of somebody who you don’t know however and you should make up your own mind. The shop itself is decent, well designed, packed full of stuff and the staff that I spoke to were pretty sound. The only problem for me was that I don’t like G-Star, apart everything else was alright.
