A quirky little shop that’s rammed with interior design ideas — I should love everything about it. It has a great range of items — many, many items — that you’ll probably spend a good amount of time here. A jumble of objet d’art, furniture, art, lighting and cushions — if you’re just here to browse, clear your diary for a good chunk of time. Hidden in the mass of stock you’ll find some good little gems. Once you’ve navigated the ground floor, ooh-ing and aah-ing at the shiny things, and successfully not knocked anything over as you peer around the raised area at the back of the shop, you’ll probably be pointed to the downstairs part of the shop to continue browsing — your sensory design receptors have not yet been fully overloaded. Now, admittedly, you’ll probably find what you want if you spend the time or have a clear idea of what you’re looking for. Otherwise, come for a browse, get oodles of ideas, then come back the following week. — If you want an old world, classical chaise for your bedroom? This is the place. — Need a gift for your parents wedding anniversary? Pop in. — You want a unique, stylish piece of lighting for your contemporary living room? Get in. — Designing a stage set that’s unashamedly brash and fitting for a footballers wife? Then this should be your first stop. So, why only three stars? Here you’ll find classic and contemporary styles mixed together in one small place, it lacks cohesion or a layout that shows off it’s offerings. Apparently the website is better, but I can’t get beyond the home screen on my Mac, so I can’t tell you anything about it. Generally a lot of it’s wares can be picked up in many of the West End shops of it’s type. And it’s pricey, so bring the credit card then go for a large stiff drink after a visit here.

Without a doubt, one of the weirdest — and awesomest — interior design shops I’ve ever stepped foot in. It’s like an Aladins Cave, with crazy cushions, stately chaise’s, and obscure objet d’art. Not to mention the lamps. They do sinceriously awesome lamps — from multi-bulbed(of different sizes!), glass dome encasements, to the brightly coloured giant miners lamps. If you’re not careful, you’ll miss that they have a downstairs too. We did, and the staff(who were in no way pushing sales), pointed it out. Third is whet they have some great pictures, in a variety of styles — but I really liked a big pop art one. If I had loads of money, I could easily spend a fortune here! The stock for somewhere like this must rotate quite regularly, so I look forward to checking it out again in a few months time.

Not cheap, but full of high quality furniture and decorations. Lots of styles and tastes catered for and there is a reasonable turn over of stock that return visits throw up nice surprises. Even if you aren’t buying, a wander can be inspiring! Never had any issues with ordering and delivery which has been friendly and efficient.

I’d always wondered what Galletly and Tubbs was all about and now I know. I wandered into their shop, and discovered(much to my dismay) that I was letting out audible ‘ooooh’s and ‘aaahh’s. A little embarassing, I admit, but they must get that a lot. It is a shop filled with interior decorating ideas, but also little gifts. Like the salt and pepper shakers shaped like an open can of soda. When I said, ‘Ooooh’ the shopkeeper said, ‘It’s over there in gold, too’. Yeah, they must get that a lot. I did find a fantastic little chest of drawers, which was a shiny black and looked like a cross between Victorian and Tim Burton. I may never be able to afford it, but I swooned anyway. It’s definately a shop where you’ll want to go if you’ve got money to spend, and yes, when I get rich, I wlll deck out my flat with their lovely, quirky decorations. Until then, you’ll find me with my forehead pressed up against the window, drooling.

Aw, man… when can I move in? Everything in here looks utterly unique, it’s just wonderful! And there seems to be a healthy turn over of stock since I’m forever spying swoontastic cushions in the window which have been snapped up by the next week. They had a Parisian themed collection in the window a wee while back and a mini Eiffel tower if I recall. A kettle at this point in time would be of more use to me, but I don’t care! I adore their mix of styles… as has been said by the other guys who reviewed this place, it’s very ecclectic. And the stuff oozes quality without being ostentatious. They had a wonderful stripey recliner when I visited today — it looked like a modern take on the chair Martin Crane sits on in Frasier! Apart form the fact it was various shades of pink, but that just added to its charm. They sell everything from rugs, to couches, to cushions for your couch, to glorious frames and mirrors. One day I will have a house that looks like this shop. For now, I just go in and sit awhile, on my beloved chair, pretending it’s my living room. Five stars — something in here for everyone! If you had a house that looked like this you would never cease to be happy.

Hello, my name is Katie, and when I grow up I’d like to live in the Galletly and Tubbs shop. In fact, there are actually two of these shops, just next door but one from each other. One concentrates on selling more furniture items, and the other homeware and gifty things, as well as a lovely bit of artwork. But both of the Galletly and Tubbs shop share the same high regard for quality and style. Their stock is all beautifully designed and very classy — which means that you will have fallen in love with something approximately 4.5 seconds after walking in the door. I’m not even joking. For me it was an ivory vintage-style phone; but for you it could be a picture frame, a handbag or a lamp. The staff in both of these stores look like the kind of people that you’d like to be your cool friend. So I’d be quite happy to take interior design advice from them!

«If I had a million dollars…» I’d buy a flat and then furnish it using stuff from this shop. Seriously. I love the designs, the eclectic lamps, and of course, that amazing grey rug which is softer than soft(go in and have a feel… riight!?). It’s all just so random, yet it fits together amazingly. They have something for everything — christmas decorations, jewellery, cups, soft furnishings… ooft. It’s like a very well designed/upper class cave. The window displays make it impossible to pass by without slowing — everything’s just so shiny… and… new… and shiny(have I mentioned I’m a bit like a magpie?). As we all know, design comes at a price, and here it don’t come cheap.(Boooo!). So beware when falling in love with THAT ashtray. It may be ‘just an ash tray’(you don’t even smoke so it’ll get used as a key bowl, or just be put pride of place in the living room) but it’ll still cost you the earth. Damn them and their shiny items!

Just the best shop in the world for something fabulous and different. G&T leaves high street department stores of all levels in the shade. Whether you’re looking to spend £15 on a birthday gift, or hundreds decorating you’re home Galletly & Tubbs have searched the world so you don’t have to. I absolutely love this shop.
