Garnethill Multi-Cultural Community Centre

Finding a venue to host an event in the centre of Glasgow that will allow you to put on your own bar and offer a good-​sized hall space is virtually impossible. Thank goodness for the Garnethill Centre! It’s become the go to place for fundraising events held by the Roller Derby league I belong to.
The centre offers a smaller room ideal for group meetings and events of up to about 30 people, we use this for our league AGM, and a larger function hall with a stage, a bar area, tables and seating for around 100 and a good sized dance floor. The centre mostly opens around when there are bookings and is available until about midnight for evening events. At only £27 an hour for the large function hall it is also incredibly reasonable considering its location and size.
Our most recent event was a drag party with more than 150 people in attendance and was a night that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. One of the best things about Garnethill is the friendliness, flexibility and helpfulness of the staff. As long as you don’t do anything too crazy they will be happy to let you get on with things uninterrupted whilst also being willing to help pitch in with clean-​up etc. We’ve always got the impression they like having us there as much as we love being there!
The only thing keeping this from being a 5-​star review is the fact the décor and facilities are a little rough around the edges and could do with a freshen up but that’s probably just nit-​picking. Overall a great, friendly venue and highly recommended for everything from family parties to group social events.
