Great discovery thanks to a recommendation from, of all places, a guy in the Lego Store. Easy to get to from my arrival point at the Railway Station too. A nice breadth of selection of material. Collectable figures, t shirts, tv fan collectables, bags, props, badges, board games. A whole host of stuff amply illustrating the stores name! Prices seemed about average. The store was clean and tidy with plenty of room and a good number of staff to help out. I did note being unobtrusively observed whilst I was carrying a £40 board game I’d selected and was carrying around with me. Maybe previous experience dictates a careful eye, but when I left it by the counter and carried on browsing I felt less like being ‘watched’, do to speak. No big deal for me, but if you attempt something like the book thief from ‘Notting Hill’, beware! Overall a great experience. I wish there were more stores like it.

GEEK-ORAMA Him Indoors and I popped in here this afternoon… he is a MASSIVE comic book«aficionado»(read:geek!) This is a store he hadn’t been in before, so I got his«pleeeeeease» face… So I was kiiiiinda like«uuuuugh, OK we’ll go in for a wee look…» I’m not gonna lie, I was expecting a small, dingy, crammed store with slightly arrogant staff… but no, it’s bright, airy and the staff was friendly and helpful! I fear I made a huuuuuge cos-play faux pas whilst in the shop-lol-I saw a girl dressed in a Star Trek outfit, presumed she was employed there so said«hiya»…she looked at me like I was weird-turns out she DIDN’T work there(I saw her leaving with a friend just before we did!!!) so I was just saying Hi to random folk… haahaaa! Oh well, at least I was being friendly! I ended up actually buying something(did NOT expect that-HAAA!!) and I even had a slight Game of Thrones geek out(bought a House Targaryen mug-teeeheee…) Him Indoors has already declared he’ll be getting most of this year’s Christmas pressies(really, ALREADY???) from this shop, so I fear I will become a regular check in here!!! Lol I’d definitely recommend this shop to anyone who wants cool wee bits from TV shows(there’s a whole stand for Breaking Bad stuff-was a tough choice between a Heisenberg mug and the eventual winner!!) As with all these«collectible» shops, it’s a wee bit expensive, but it’s what it’s expected! All in all, better than a lot of these shops, IMHO…

I had been away from Glasgow for a few years, and when I moved back I stumbled past this place. I’m a geek so, I was like wow, wow, wow. Looks fab. It’s like a bigger version of forbidden planet. It’s pricey, but still great stuff. Worth a look.

Massive, spacious geek shop full of board games, card games, models, movie paraphernalia, t-shirts, a whole lot of stuff from Game of Thrones mugs under £10 to a gold Harry Potter Time Turner at over £200.(There’s probably even more expensive stuff in there, but that was the one thing that caught my eye). As it’s much bigger than Forbidden Planet, it has a much wider range of stock although there are fewer books. I also find Forbidden Planet a little geek-elitist and this place seems much friendlier — I’d be happy to go in here and ask for help if I wasn’t sure what I was after and needed to admit that I don’t know my Marvel from my DC, or something like that. They have a gaming area up the back which was full when were in today and they have fliers for games tournaments they run within the shop, so it feels a bit like a meeting place or a community centre for Glasgow geeks! We went in today to return a card game that Him Indoors bought yesterday but which had cards missing. He’d lost the receipt(already!) but without hesitation they took it back and tried to find us a replacement. When they didn’t have another in stock, they gave us a credit note and put it on order for us. They were really apologetic, really helpful and really pleasant over the whole thing — those of you who know me will know that I had gone in prepared to quote the Sale of Goods Act 1979 at them if they refused to help, but it wasn’t necessary and I was delighted with their customer service.

I’ve been in here a few times since it opened a couple of months ago — I love me a good Superhero! Geek Aboo is clearly beginning to hit its stride, with an ever expanding and diverse stock — from all the Marvel stuff to My Little Pony — and no, I’m not a Bronie. Yet. Pricewise, it’s broadly cheaper than Forbidden Planet and it certainly caters for a eider audience. Less nerdy elitist, more inclusively geekist! I love this shop. Everyone I know that’s visited it loves it. I can only see it getting better!

The name alone earns it some praise. Can’t beat a bit of punnery, especially in the world of the geek, where a few people do tend to take things too seriously. It’s only been open a while, and it still has the NEWNEWNEWSHINYNEW feel to it, and I think it will be all the better for when it settles into it’s surroundings. The range of merch they have is impressive, and the staff have a good knowledge too, judging by the conversation about Yu Gi Oh and Magic cards I could hear going on. Plenty of shirts, dresses, books, swords, statues, toys, wallets and everything else you could possibly want from a geek related shop. I was only in briefly before closing time, so didn’t want to spend too much time wandering and checking things out. Once again, come the revolution, the geek shall inherit the Earth… be prepared :)

Just opened but there is a lot of potential with these guys. If your a geek then you are on to a good thing, T-shirts, models and random geek based goods. I hope these guys manage to improve and increase their stock as it feels slightly lacking so far. It is a good start but has a fair way to go to compete properly. The staff seem nice and knowledgeable but a little disorganised. Located on Queen st. the place is central and has plenty of space for expansion to improve their stock quantities and variety. I wish these guys all the best and look forward to updating my review in a couple of months once they have a handle on what they are trying to acomplish.
