There are loads of little independent chemists in the vicinity of Dumbarton Road — and all of them would love to implore you to visit them instead of the chemist giant that is Boots(which, incidentally, can also be found on Dumbarton Road). To be honest, although Boots does offer a good service — I always get my prescriptions from independent places such as Gilbrides. They’re usually a lot less busy, which means that instead of waiting an hour for your prescription a la Boots — they’ll usually have it ready for you in five minutes while you wait. And you know what? Gilbrides is no exception to this rule. It’s a cosy little chemist on Hyndland Road, less than a stones’ throw from the Tesco Express on Dumbarton Road. The staff are friendly, and their shelves are stuffed full with almost anything you could possibly want to buy from a chemist. Plus, it’s inexpensive and handy for both the Kelvinhall Subway station and the nearby Abingdon Medical Centre.
