You can probably tell the type of people Iceland want to attract by who they use in their adverts. Firstly it was a Liverpudlian cocaine addict, now it’s the one off Loose Women who’s even skankier than the rest. Nowadays they’ve also amassed a bit of a student following, mainly down to the cleverly deceitful £1 signs they put on things to make them look cheap. Bags of frozen veg actually often cost less than a pound in Asda or Tesco, and if you’ve ever had the misfortune of fishing the two measly pieces of chicken out of an Iceland £1 chicken curry meal, you’d realise that cheap doesn’t always mean good value. It’s not bad at all though if you’re just nipping in to buy a few odds and ends, and those cakes in the picture above look surprisingly tasty. Maybe there’s more to Iceland than first appears…

I do love Iceland and their amazingly cheap and tasty food. As a student, I have a soft spot for convenience food and Iceland is definitely the place to be for whatever frozen food takes your fancy. I particularly like their big bags of frozen vegetables, that are generally around £1 each and are ideal to stick in the freezer to use as and when required. Their pizzas are a freezer favourite in my flat, as well as their curly fries, potato wedges and good old fish fingers. Kids dinner classics. Most items in here are rarely over £1, making budget shopping a breeze, and offering free home delivery when you spend £25 or over. The staff here are pleasant and happy to help, assisting you in finding what you’re looking for and providing speedy service with a smile.
