Strange how times and trends change so quickly, I was recently at a function and someone asked if anyone had the time, everyone at the table took their phone out of their pockets to check, not one person at my table of twelve had a watch this is when after two years of not having one that l needed to buy one. I went to a few shops in princess square to see what was on offer I knew that if I was to buy a watch that it would have to be a good one, I already looked up online so I had an idea of what I wanted, most shops that I went to in princess square where rather pushy trying to sell me a high end Rolex for eight grand and this is not what l wanted. In Laings they had a few good watches on display, but the watch that l wanted to look at the staff seemed to be rather negative on the brand, and wanted me to but a watch that was twice the price and twice as ugly than the one I wanted to see. I made my purchase and bought a Swiss made Alpina watch that watch was nice but they would have to order in the strap that I wanted. Now a days you cannot buy a watch in a small box, the one I was given could comfortably fit a four slice toaster and that’s no joke, and what was worse was that they had no bags to put the box in except a bin bag, you would think after spending a few thousand pounds in a store that they would have a bag to fit the purchase, these guys thought so and wrapped the box in a bin bag. I was happy with my purchase, but the customer service lacked.

The help I received both online and in their big store in Glasgow(down the wee jewellery Arcade) was great, it really reassured me that I should get my wedding ring from Laings. The sale process never felt pushy, and the price at the end for the quality of the item(including a slight customisation I had requested) was excellent, and far cheaper than other jewellers. Definitely worth a visit if you are about to make a big purchase!
