Yes, I’m finally doing it! I have been buying lunch in here on and off for years, and it’s slipped my Unilocaly radar. For shame! Anyway, I’m quite fond of food places with fun punny names. It makes them cute and instantly makes me question my knowledge of the English language because they make words seem weird to me. Yay! This wee place may well be overlooked by many, but it is probably one of the most frequented lunch locations in Office Land, although it is almost exclusively a take-away place. There are a couple of tables, but they go largely unused. The food in the fridge is made fresh daily and can be heated upon request, the wee cakes and such are all home made, and the paninis are lovely! Today I consumed the smelliest and tastiest one on the menu: tuna, red onion and edam! I used to let myself have a treat and have the Angus Burger on a Friday, but I’m not sure if they do that anymore(it’s been a while). If they do, it’s nice and fresh and tasty. I believe they also cater for meetings and such-like, so if you’re stuck in a board room somewhere in Office Land and require sandwiches to sustain the productivity of your hoard of attendees, this may well be the place for you. If that’s not enough to make you pop in, the staff are lovely and enjoy a blether with the regulars. Even when I haven’t been in for ages, they still say hi to me if they see me walking by. I’ve been on the packed lunches for about a year and when I went in for lunch yesterday they pointed out that I’d lost a lot of weight and asked if I was still working round the corner! Got to love it. On ye go and have a nibble. ^^

Yet another jewel to add to Glasgow’s crown of pun-laden takeaways, Lettuce Eat is another cracker. It’s short, memorable, and doesn’t alter the words enough from the subject matter to lose it’s relevance. Above all, the word«lettuce» simply manages to both look funny written down and said aloud. On the food side, it’s very good, and the shop rustles up a pretty roaring trade from the nearby offices and tower blocks. No complaints at all about the chicken club sarnie I had on a visit back to Scotland’s real capital the other week.

I have to echo what has been said before on Unilocal for this place, I worried a pun name would be a sign of a shop trying to hard to get your attention, but the food spoke for itself. I was bullied into going here, to be fair, not one to actively pay several pounds for a sandwich(it’s still just bread!) but I really enjoyed this wee place, with good service and more importantly, good food. We sat outside which was a delight, being on a nice day, and overall it was a nice experience. I’m rarely up here, but would go back if I was. Recommended.

From outside appearances and the corny name, I must admit I wasn’t too enthused at giving in to my hunger and resorting to munch here, and was seriously wishing I had eaten shreddies for breakfast. My tum was still a-rumblin’ however, and wouldn’t let up, so I gave in. I got me a roast veg wrap, my friend a chargrilled chicken sandwich with coleslaw. When the slightly nervous server took out a whole chicken breast and started to carve it up, that’s when I started to look at my surroundings in a new way. The coleslaw was devine and clearly homemade, and as I looked at the sandwich fillings spread out behind the sparkling sneeze guard, I suspected that they were all homemade and of the same standard. No fat encrusted subway bacon here! It has a little breakfast bar at the back to sit in, and aside from the nervousness of the server, both the people working there were very friendly considering I was only there for two tics. My wrap must have been one of the best — and affordable hurried lunch rolls I’ve had in town — definitely will go back.
