This review is based on my first visit to the salon. I booked in for a cut and blow dry and eyebrow shaping. I loved the look of the salon which was quite small with lots of nice vintage style touches and old prints on the walls. Nothing puts you at ease while having your hair washed like being watched over by Marilyn Monroe! I was happy with my hair and brows at the end of the appointment but unfortunately found the atmosphere in the salon a bit strange. Firstly they were playing some gangsta rap compilation while I was having my hair washed. Head massages are nice but they don’t have the same impact when you’re listening to M.O.P.‘s Ante Up. They also had a problem with the water running hot and cold while I was having my hair washed but the girl didn’t acknowledge it or apologise. There were three stylists and three clients in the salon but aside from the music and hairdryer everyone was silent which is highly unusual for a hairdressers! The women who work there seemed tense so maybe they were just having a bad day? There wasn’t much communication about what they were doing to my hair and face and everything felt a bit rushed. I had to ask them what products they were using on my hair and I feel that you should be told this first. They offer a lot of treatments here and the prices are around mid-range for the West End. Although I was pleased with the results I probably won’t return to the salon because of the atmosphere.

Surprised to be the first to review this place: it’s right on the corner of Dumbarton Road and Byres Road. Anyways, it’s a winner for me. A thorough consultation, then a thorough wash, then a thorough haircut. Really walked away feeling like my needs had been addressed. More than that, I was given away some product to try out and some good recommendations on others. All in, sold that they knew what was going on. Price-wise, it definitely works out well for gents. £18(I can’t believe I missed the 20% off for students promo!) ordinarily, but they do lots of offers all year round, including a fiver off your second visit. They also do a great recommend-a-friend promo, for as much as 50% off their first visit. With so many hairdressers, this is a great way to set Miss Barton’s apart, and I am happy to play my part with this easy 5-star review to encourage others to check them out.
