October/November never really appealed to me so the first time I visited was on a secret planning session with Eilidh G for her epic Cocktail Trail through Glasgow. On our first visit, as I was driving I got the Lemon Daisy mocktail(fresh lemon juice, mixed berry syrup, soda water & lemonade). This is hands down the best mocktail I can remember having and even Eilidh who was having a cocktail was impressed. So when we returned on the Cocktail Trail, I decided to order it with vodka in it(classy). The bar guy happily obliged and added a shot of vodka(he said a double would make it really expensive). It was just as tasty, but boozy, and I was very pleased. I’d also ordered a garlic bread with cheese and a coke — he forgot the coke but fixed me up quickly when I mentioned it. There was a bit of a mix up with the orders and only one portion of garlic bread came out when our table had ordered two, so it took a while for them to work out what had gone wrong. October is a nice enough place, kind of glam but a little bit tired too. I like the location at the top of Princes Square but it just doesn’t really have enough to entice me back when there are so many drinking places with a better atmosphere. There’s definitely something missing here but perhaps it’s because I’ve only visited in the afternoon.

Pleasant cocktails with fairly good ingredients as standard(Vodka was either Smirnoff or Absolut). Each cocktail was roughly 6 quid, so again standard city centre price. The barmaid(is that an appropriate term?), was lovely and made some jokes whilst mixing the cocktails. She tried to give me just water in my glasses in part to let the cosmo glasses cool before serving!(Sadly, I wasn’t really listening and missed the joke.) Tried a strawberry and cucumber collins which was really refreshing and reminded me of pimms. The french martini was also great and very fruity! Place wasn’t busy as it was a Tuesday night, so was surprised it was only bar service. There was only about 4 tables occupied, although it seemed like if we ordered food we would get table service. Will come back at some point to try the food, potentially as a break post shopping one weekend.

When looking for somewhere to lunch on Saturay afternoon, a friend and I decided heading up to the roof terrace of October. I’ve never been here before, and it’s a lovely place with stylish décor. The actual terrace area is pretty small though, and therefore inside it just feels like any other bar(though it’s roasting inside on a warm day!) After a long morning of shopping, this was the perfect place to go to keep up that ‘ladies who lunch’ feel of the day, and being able to buy a half bottle of prosecco(my lunch mate was a bit fragile so no booze for her!) was a great little touch :) I had the macaroni cheese, which was nice enough with chives mixed throughout but I’m still searching for the ideal mac and cheese! I’ve never been here in the evening but for a nice civilised — but not too expensive — lunch drink it was pretty good. It’d just be great if they could turn the air con on!

We went to October through an itison deal which included a cocktail and a burger, but I felt it was rather limited. There were only 3 burgers to choose from on the menu, beef, chicken and chickpea, and personally I am sick to death with the latter as a veggie option. Also, the offer excluded the majority of cocktails leaving again only 3 choices, which meant I couldn’t have the Milk Chocolate Martini which is a favourite of mine and a recommendation. The chickpea burger was nicely flavoured and textured and the accompanying coleslaw was tasty, but the chips were rather bland. Also, I felt my WooWoo was a bit watery. There was a good buzz about the place however, and the service was quick.

Good prices, good atmosphere, but!!! I was here the week before the refit, so I’m speaking from a month or so ago, but me and my colleague were here during the day for a wee bit of A la Carte treatment. Prices were good… so far its good. However I’m really picky with my steak, and when I ask for a medium rare, I don’t expect a plate of blood. However when I told the waiter about this, he informed me that the chef confirmed that it was medium rare. I ate it because I wasn’t overly concerned about it, but I just think a bit more attention to detail would be good :) The cocktails though… omg…safe to say I had to get the train home!

Ridiculously warm inside and the service was terrible. Very over priced as well. Cannot recommend.

I’m so shocked that Nobember only has a 3 star average! I think it’s a pretty decent place! I don’t know if that says more about me or November… ho hey. Anyway — it’s found on the top floor of Princes Square which is a stunning mall in the centre of Glasgow. It’s absolutely gorgeous. November is perched at the very top and is a popular cocktail bar. They have a good range of cocktails — nothing fancy or posh, but still, mood cocktails at a decent price. They also serve casual food, which I can’t comment on as I haven’t tried. You can reserve tables or the balcony, and if you’re planning an event then you should as its always packed. I’ve had many great nights here — the staff are lovely, the toilets are pretty clean and generally I don’t have any complains!

We came here to celebrate a birthday, but it definitely wasn’t what we expected. We waited the waitress like 45 minutes just to take our order. Then we had to wait another 50 minutes to get our drinks. And it wasn’t even full that much. I don’t know what was the reason for this behavior. Anyway, we got our drinks and some of them weren’t what we ordered. It was a mess. I don’t know if I’m going to visit this place again.

A bit disappointing because despite the bar being at the top of Princes Square there is actually hardly any balcony to sit at. So you could really be in any rectangular shaped bar of your choosing. Further, if you aren’t going to one of the nearby clubs(Karbon? Sugarcube?) then it’s kind of in the middle of nowhere. And finally, there are a fair number of rough chaps and wee girls buried in fake tan, eyelashes and hair extensions — not the coolest crowd. On the plus side, drinks prices were reasonable and the mojitos I had were pretty good.

November is one of my most visited places in Glasgow, in terms of it is in Princes Square and hits the spot between a restaurant or a fast food place. Now, in terms of daily lunch times and quiet evenings I can’t recommend this place more, I’ve always had good food, good service and their large diet coke is actually a pint — which counts for a lot with me because I don’t drink a lot of alcohol but I do drink a lot and I can often rack up about £40 in diet cokes in any one meal, so to actually get one a half decent size is excellent. In terms of evenings — I went in with a friend one Saturday evening, we had reserved a booth, and within 5 minutes we decided to go somewhere else. It’s overcrowded and overpopulated with the ‘TOWIE’ type people, loud and crass and just not the kind of people I can stand for more than a minute, and the type of people who mean that I avoid November like the plague after 5pm Thursday — Saturday.

As you may have noticed, November is not exactly one of those fantastic wee independent bars that I love so much, but the location is fantastic, and the décor is classy yet promotes a relaxed atmosphere. The seats are super comfy! It’s so hard to find bars where you’re guaranteed a super comfy seat. I like it when I can sit for a few hours without losing feeling in my posterior! If you so desire(and I have), you may hire out one of the balconies, if they can so be called, for functions. If you hire Sunday through Thursday, it can be done for free, but you do need to order their food platters for your shindig in order to seal the deal. Their buffet food is actually really nice, and usually there’s more of it than your guest allocation can eat. Balcony dwellers also get table service so that they don’t need to tackle anyone at the bar for their boozamahol. Speaking of which, if you go on a Friday or Saturday evening, you will almost certainly be clambering over your fellow patrons to get at someone who can serve you a drink, but on other days getting the service you desire is much easier. You may have to publicly shame people for barging in ahead of you(and I do), but it merely adds to the amusement of the experience. The cocktails are fairly basic, served with no real flair and they don’t set things on fire(booooo!), but they’re still tasty and fairly inexpensive as cocktails go. They have some really nice virgin cocktails /mocktails for the non-drinkers in your crowd, which is always nice because then they can feel included and don’t give you the evil stare of death. All in all, tis a pretty nice place to go for a night out that’s not going to break the bank. For this reason, I shall generously shower 4 stars upon it with some pixie dust. ^^

The Mojitos are the best drink I get them everytime I’m in, vodka mixers are quite overpriced though but I would say the cocktails are very decent, I can’t speak for the food, but later on they remove some of the tables and there’s a Dj, quite a good atmosphere with a good mix of people, old, young. I would admit though there are a few neds, but as I said there are a wide variety of people go here. I remember going to lunch one time and would say go somewhere else if your hungry.

I’ve been here a couple of times and each time I’ve been impressed. Wether it’s a catch up with friends or a quick eat during a shopping trip, it’s a place to try. Both times I was served very quickly(great for when your rushing) I had the meal and cocktail deal, both were amazingly good, especially the soup! Give it a try, I’m definitely a fan!

i visited here with a few friends of mine for a few cocktails and lunch, when we went in it was quite quiet and we were quickly seated. My friend had been previously and recommended a cocktail so we promptly ordered some for ourselves what arrived wasnt what the menu had stated they have missed out the fresh strawberries in it so it didnt taste right. We waited for a waitress to ask us our order but this took a while as they were too busy socialising behind the bar, when they did finally come over we pointed out the drink didnt taste right and she didnt really have a clue what she was doing, i doubt she knew how to make the drink at all and just chucked whatevr she could find together! The same happened with our food, i ordered chicken and red pepper kebabs and when they arrived they had no red pepper no dressing on the salad like it stated!!! Wouldnt bother ever going back

Linguine with crab. Sounded delicious and lemony on menu, claggy overcooked pasta totally swimming in oil and very garlicky yet with no discernible other flavour. Not nice. Overpriced. Waitresses were nice. Caesar salad covered in grated white cheddar. Veggie burger was a mushroom.

November really confused me actually… We visited in March, 2011 for a birthday, there was a about 15 of us, 2 of us(including me) were underage at the time. I expected it to be quite posh and fancy as it’s in Princess Square and was surprised when I got there. My boyfriend and I arrived earlier than everyone else, there was no one to seat us and it was pretty packed already. There was quite a mix of people. There were some really old men who were already out of their faces by the time we got there(8pm), there were alot of geezers, chatting up the orange tanned women who weren’t wearing much, quite a few 30 –40yo’s dressed inappropriately. I was affraid I might bump into one of my school teachers or my mums friends. There were a few people who looked underage and some younger people, including some baseball cap wearing guys: S I got served at the bar, they didnt even ask me for ID. I do not look 18 by the way. The barmaid was attentive and as there was quite a wait she apologised and let me know she would get to me inbetween serving others. She served me and informed me of a deal — saved me a few quid on a cocktail which I was very grateful for as the prices are quite above student budget! The décor is lovely, intircate monochrome wall paper, some purple back lighting, some iconic pictures or Marilyn Monroe and Twiggy etc. There were some blank photo frames aswell but they looked out of place. The chairs at our table were of different heights meaning I couldn’t cross my legs but my boy friend looked like he was sitting on the floor. The table was sticky and I didnt see a table being cleaned once while we were there. Boak. We were also moved from a booth so that a DJ could set up. After 9ish the music was blaring. Had it been kept at the lower volume as before 9 then we could have heard each other speak but instead we had to sit in silence with our drinks or scream over the music — no choice to get up and dance due to the lack of dance floor… Prices jumped from the £2 cocktails that were on deal to about £5 and up. Around half 10 it got really busy and I waited 30 mins at the bar to be served again. The barmaids decided this busy time was ideal to have a wee chat and gossip amongst themselves… I think that if you reserved the balcony for a large group and didnt socialise with the crowd that November attracts then you’d be able to enjoy the décor and the cheaper drinks, maybe out on the balcony — the music wouldn’t be so in your face.

There’s nothing really remarkable about November. It isn’t bad. It isn’t great. It’s just… fine. They used to have a great little caesar salad, that I just loved, and would crave and crave until I could get my hands on it. I don’t know what they did to it to make me crave it, or what they’ve done to it now, but it just doesn’t add up. The staff are nice enough, but once you’ve had your meal, you can forget about it. They’re off with the new patrons who just walked in, and you practically have to chase them down to get your bill. Not great if you’re only there for a quick lunch. Get your bill delivered with your meal if you’re in a hurry.

November Café has a pretty good name about it, maybe because it is situated at the top of the stylish Princes Square mall, amongst posh-nosh eateries and designer boutiques. It’s Bebo page has the tag-line ‘Where the beautiful people drink, dine and relax in style’, which gives it a bit of an elitist air of pretentiousness. I was willing to give it a go however, because I’m just that kind of girl. We decided on November whilst looking for somewhere to eat in the Mall, and the prices seemed pretty reasonable on first glance. The bar itself is situated at the very top of the building, and after waiting on the lift for a good ten minutes to no avail, we decided to walk up the stairs. It’s a bit of a maze to get there, with the whitewashed stairwell walls glaring at you, it makes it feel a bit more like a hospital than the stairway to a trendy café-bar. When we finally got there, we were greeted by… well, no-one, to be precise. There were a few people in the café at the time, and we noticed five staff members floating around, but we were not approached at any point after we came through the door. After a few loud tuts and choice coughs, a young man came over and asked us if we were waiting to be seated. I would have thought that was glaringly obvious, mate. My friend had her heart set on sitting on one of the balconies which overlooked the shops and bars below us, so we asked if we could be seated there. He looked at us as if we had just held a gun to his forehead. He directed us to the bar and muttered that he would have to go and clear the table so it would be worthwhile getting a drink. I was quite perplexed, as i didn’t realise table clearing was such a hefty chore! We decided against ordering any unwanted drinks(which are expensive at up to and over five quid a pop) and just loitered around the bar whilst being ignored again, by the bar staff who were chatting about their impending night out on the tiles. Once we were grudgingly seated, we perused the slightly grubby menus. We decided on an Indian sharing platter and i chose prawn fajitas for my main. Alongside this we decided to have a pitcher of Shark bite cocktail and a pint of Pepsi each. We had plenty of time to deliberate however because it took the charming waiter roughly 20 minutes to come and take our order. By this point i was a bit annoyed. Our drinks never did arrive until i went and demanded them from the plethora of chatty barmaids, and about 20 minutes later, some other waiter brought out our starter… and our main course. We looked at him in a sort of condescending manner which could only be described as awe at his stupidity. After explaining that we wanted the platter as a starter and the main courses after, he went and got our original waiter and he apologised. begrudgingly, may i add. This didn’t resolve anything however but by this point i was starving. The Indian platter looked good on paper, but in the cold light of day, it was god awful. There were four little pathetic shards of pitta bread passing as Naan, a small bowl of Korma which tasted exactly like a boil in a bag Lidl number, 4 onion bahjis and 4 bloody tiny bits of Veg Pakora which were the only saving grace. To top it all off, it was freezing. I do believe steam exited my ears at this point in the meal. Once we had finished grumbling but not complaining about the disgraceful starter(typical British politeness, i am too kind), we moved onto our main courses. My ‘sizzling’ prawn fajitas were a damp squib. By the time i got round to them they too were cold. The prawns were tiny, the peppers and onions were lank. I was given three stuck together wraps and a mini bowl of cheese, guacamole and salsa, which i slobbered over the prawn filling and attempted to make a meal out of. It was really horrible. The grease dripped out of the fajita as i took a bite and i only managed a few more before i gave up. It was disgusting. We asked for the bill. I couldn’t wait to get out of the place so i could moan a bit louder. For three people, with a sharing platter and three main courses, a drink and a jug of cocktail it came to just under £20 each. I was really annoyed at this point. Safe to say i did not leave a tip. In short, November was one of the worst dining experiences i have ever had. The service was unacceptable, the staff were less than accommodating and the food was akin to something i made in Home Economics when i was 14. I found November to be extremely overpriced, extremely overrated and somewhere i won’t be in a rush to visit ever again. Good luck to the beautiful people!

November is one of these bars that gets away with looking lovely but rotten in every other way becasue it’s the only bar in the immediate vicinity of Princes Square. Full of «tanned» neds(exclusively fanta or mahogany) and wannabe footballer types, it’s not exactly the friendly, congenial environment you might expect from Princes Square. Quite the opposite, in fact. It’s a style bar without an element of class, which says it all, really. It’s not so bad when it’s absolutely dead, but that’s a little too much to hope for. I think it really pulls Princes Square down, which is a real shame. Anyway. Avoid it. Take a walk and find somewhere decent!

Despite heading here straight from work and looking quite the professional, I felt uncomfortable the minute I set foot in this place. We had seen some 2 for 1 food offers on their website and thought we’d check it out. When we eventually found our way here(there was work being done on the usual staircase) we couldnt see any sign of the offers on the menu so asked if they were still on. «No», we were told coldly. I don’t know if it was the fact I was too pale, brunette and not up to the sophistication of their usual clientele but it was quite clear they were not going to attempt to win our custom over. We were not informed what offers were on instead, if any, or even given an inviting smile. We considered staying for cocktail but decided they didn’t deserve £5-odd from each of us and went elsewhere. I don’t like to judge on such fleeting impressions but it was enough to put us off coming here. I liked it here when it was October but it seems with the change in season in the name, the place has also got a lot colder(or, as they might argue, cooler). Perhaps we just caught them on a bad-weather day.
