Although I was attracted by the clean and open shop front, my take away was disappointing: it tasted like the shop looks: anodyne and generic. By getting rid of the slightly kitsch traditional Indian take away atmosphere, Papa Doms was a great marketing idea: sadly, it doesn’t offer those idiosyncratic regional specials that make Indian meals an adventure. It feels like a pizza shop, not an Indian, and I was disappointed by the quality of the food: it has a slight aftertaste, as if it was all precooked and ready to go. The service isn’t that much faster, either, and it makes too many concessions to a bland palate. I’d seek out somewhere a little more old school.

Well what can i say about this place, only that we could be about to witness the future of Indian takeaway food… its a momentous occasion folks, try not to get carried away. Now!, i hear you cry, what and how can you propose to make this ridiculous claim, what proof can you offer to back this statement up… well. Papa’s is run by a young gentleman with a great ambition, he is driven by the belief that Indian takeaways are behind the times in terms of food prep, presentation and marketing. With this in mind and with the model of Pizza Hut and the like as his muse, he is attacking the Indian market like a Hot tandoori on a Scotsman’s palate. With great deals on offer, fantastic quality grub and realistic prices, Papa Doms offers a fantastic new alternative in the Indian market. Look out for this brand, it may well become pretty big over the next few years…
