Went here for Christmas dinner and it didn’t let down, place was very busy as you’d expect on Christmas day but this didn’t stop good friendly staff with a great atmosphere all added to fantastic food

Another fantastic, essentially perfect traditional Italian restaurant in the city. A resounding 5 stars for Piccolo Mondo!

Nice wee dinner. At a training course on my own for the night. This restaurant is about three doors down from my hotel. Had a fabby fritto misto and a delicious amactriciana followed by a tiramisu and coffee. Nice place not too busy for early on a Monday evening but was steadily filling up. Service attentive but not overbearing. Perfect for reading my P. G Woodhouse and enjoying a lovely meal. 3 courses two g&ts limoncello and coffee £47 so not bad x

It was my birthday lunch with my parents and boyfriend yesterday so we chose piccolo mondo for somewhere yummy to eat! We had booked the«business lunch» when reserving it but when we arrived there were lots of happy diners but didn’t see anybody doing business! :-) Anyway the set menu had loads of choice — 10 starters! Plus 4 soups and about 15 mains — so it was hard to choose what we were all going to have. We finally managed and settled down to enjoy a glass of champagne for the birthday girl! I went for the trio starter with mozarrella cubes, onion rings and courgette — not exactly italian fayre but I couldn’t resist as have been on a diet in last 6 weeks. They were good and what you would expect. Other choices at our table were well received particularly the seafood croquette which I got a taste of. For main I had the seafood pasta — linguine with three types of prawn and a tomato garlic chilli sauce. Yum — really nice although no offer of Parmesan on top which I missed. The other highlight was my mums Tuscan style lamb which was in a rich tomato sauce and really well cooked. No puddings except a cheese board for my dad which he demolished and left behind only a few celery sticks so it was obviously good. However the waiter then appeared with a scoop of ice cream with a huge sparkler in it and a happy birthday to me from the restaurant! A nice touch and I also a piccolo mondo pen presented! Thanks :-) The décor is a little old fashioned down to the doily on your plate… But in a great way if you ask me and I would highly recommend for the good food and great service.

I popped in here for dinner with a friend recently and was pleasantly surprised! It looks fairly unassuming from the outside, I’ve walked past it a fair few times and only remembered it was there after reading other Unilocal reviews, but inside is a lovely old-school style Italian restaurant, complete with bright mural and atmospheric lighting. I had a glass of the house white which was very nice, not too sweet and not too dry, alongside a melon and Parma ham starter, followed by veal Milanese as the main. I found my starter to be very refreshing and was just the right amount as to not fill me up before my substantially sized main arrived. The veal wasn’t too thick and was well cooked, placed on top of a generous helping of linguine, and served with a side of potatoes and mixed vegetables. I also really appreciated the standard of table service that we had, there was this sense of quiet, old-fashioned professionalism that our waiters exuded. All in all, a very enjoyable experience that I would be happy to repeat!

The Celebration menu is worth shouting about at PM. Quality food made with quality ingredients on a menu that includes enough booze to make all the neds hanging around Central Station fade into blurry who-gives-a-damn. Service got a bit slow but was otherwise fine in both occasions I went.

Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, reasonable prices, not much more you csan ask for. The menu has a good choice while not being overwhelming. Also concur with the other reviews.

What a gem of a place. I go there quite a lot with my work colleagues so we are rather well known by the staff. Not like your typical Italian restaurants(the ones that look more like American Diners), this place is proper Romanesque, with the nuddy marble ladies and Italian style friezes. The staff are amazing and are always good for a bit of chat and banter. They are extremely attentive and make you feel so welcome. Every time I go I order the Terrine DI Pâté which is served with a little chutney(bags of flavour) and warm triangle of toast, it is heaven. I normally opt for the spicy sausage pasta which is ace and packs a punch with a hint of chili. However if you like your seafood I would highly recommend the Grilled seafood platter(A la carte menu), by heck I was gobsmacked the size of the plate they brought out. It was full of every kind of seafood you could think of, scallops, sea bass, prawns, mussels and with a side of saffron rice. Being the total grubber that I am, I polished off the lot quite comfortably. My companions were astounded the amount of seafood that was on the plate. Defo one for a seafood lover. They do various meal deals but we normally go for the two course lunch for £12.50. Never had a bad experience in this place and deserves to be known as one of the best restaurants on Glasgow.

Welcome? What welcome! We were greeted like a prison door. Quite frankly, this is not good enough by Glaswegian standards. We walked out.

This charming restaurant is the staple Italian place for my colleagues and I when we go out to lunch for a birthday or leaving do, and prior to joining my team I had never even glanced at this restaurant in curiousity, let alone been inside. I’d always just walk by it, a sin for which I am now repentant! Who’d have guessed that this unassuming corner of Argyle Street in sterile Office Land would boast such a lovely interior? With its renaissance style statues and elegant draperies, you are given the impression of a cozy but stylish Tuscan eatery. As soon as you step in the door, you are greeted by lovely staff who take your coats and jackets and escort you to your seat. They even pull out the seats for the ladies and place your napkins for you, which I am just not accustomed to generally(you can imagine my confusion the first time I went — I may have looked at the waiter as though he was some sort of space cadet). The food itself is lovely! Usually when we book in for lunch, I believe it’s the Graduation Menu we ask for, which is available Mondays to Fridays and is only available if you ask for it when you call the restaurant to make your reservation. This entitles you to a full three course meal plus coffee and mints, as well as a cocktail prior to your meal and an Italian liqeur at the end of your meal, and all for a very reasonable £19.50. As one who loves cocktails and liqueurs, this is a special bonus for me! My colleagues and I have eaten here several times over the last two years, and the only time one of us had a problem with their meal, the cost of their food was taken off the bill entirely. In fact, the restaurant’s on duty manager got down on his knees to ask for forgiveness!!! Needless to say it was given… Aaand my colleague was bright red for the next hour or two. This is one of Glasgow’s Italian restaurants that simply must be sampled. The staff are always intent on providing a silver service dining experience for a fraction of the cost, and the traditional Tuscan fare is simply delightful. It should definitely not be missed.

A restaurant with quality food and good hospitality. Very popular, we went on a Tuesday night and it was busy but well staffed to cope with customer demands. The deal on the notice board outside was not presented to us as an option, I had to refer to it and request the menu which is worrying as the price difference is £7.50 pp. This was easily rectified and the quality of food and service awards an overall score of 4.

This was my first time in Piccolo Mondo and to be honest I had never heard of it before or even noticed it. Tucked away up the, shall we say, dodgier end of Argyle Street on the corner of said street and West Campbell St is Piccolo Mondo. I had read a few other reviews of the place which is what made me choose this restaurant out of all the other squillions of Italian restaurants in Glasgow. Many customers have praised this place and it has even been voted the ‘second best restaurant in the UK’ by them there TopTable people. Wow. What I first noticed about Piccolo Mondo is the style and décor compared to other, maybe newer, Italian restaurants. There’s no sleek minimalism or Ikea chic here, nope, it’s full on opulent and old school-esque all the way. Which, in my(sadly myopic) eyes makes a nice and refreshing change to all the other Italian restaurants that are springing up here there and everywhere. The toilets(once you’ve found them) are, I’m very happy to say, also top notch. Nicely kept with lovely hand cream and proper hand towels should you so wish to mop your delicate handies with one. We went for a rather modest(yet rather hilariously named) Sensational Novelty Menu ~ just for that menu name alone full marks! This was £20 for 2 people including an apéritif, starter and main course or main course and dessert and then a coffee or liqueur. No’ bad indeed. For our aperitifs I chose a yummy Kir Royale and the boy had a glass of Prosecco. We opted for the starter and main course option; me being a salty dawg and all(Woof!) I had a delicious Antipasti del Casale which was a splendid salad/plate of parma ham, salami, parmesan, rocket, mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil & balsamic vinegar. This was right up my street. Delicious and just the right amount. The boy had a Trio of Mushrooms, Mozzarella & Onions Rings which is exactly just that. Lovely. Another plus for us was the basket of focaccia and butter they also gave us(for free). I liked that very much as not many places these days seem to do that any more. Nice touch. Main course was for myself the Pasta Princepessa ~ a pasta dish comprising of chicken breast(lovely big chunks), parma ham, white wine & other nice things. It was really good if a tad too creamy for me(my own fault — I’m not too keen on creamy pasta sauces). The boy one had Chicken Breast Capri ~ a chicken breast with tomato, garlic, chilli, basil & white wine sauce served with saffron rice, roast potatoes and veggies. This was delicious and when I go again(and I will) I will definately have that. Yummy. Good size portions too. None of your nouvelle cuisine(i.e. stingy) here. This is good proper Italian food like Mama used to make(if my Mama came from Tuscany and not Norfolk that is). Glad we didn’t opt for the 3 courses as we were both pretty darn full after all that lovely food. We still had the coffee/liqueur as included in the menu to have after so I chose a cappuccino. This just hit the right spot after the meal. Ahhhh. I shall fo’ sure be back to Piccolo Mondo at some point and when I do go I look forward to trying some of the other menus and courses as they do seem to have a very varied selection of menus to suit any budget or occasion, which is again a super idea. Top tip is to look online for great deals. Yas. Should you ever find yourself in the wrong part of town(or Argyle Street to be precise) then do please take a chance on a warm Italian restaurant with a funny wee name.

Went here one night after work, had booked a table, and good thing I did as place was mobbed. We were sat up the back at an awkwardly placed table, next to the fire exit door. I had seen on there website they did a set ‘Graduation Meal’ for 15 pounds each, 3 courses and 2 drinks. When we asked for this we were told they only did that set meal up until July. which was odd as a woman in work had been the night before(and raved about it, reason I booked!)so we went for the ‘Celebration Meal’ instead, 27 pounds each and only difference was it came with a bottle of wine. I had starter of peach bellini & parma ham and mozzarella, ham was a little too fatty for my liking. My partner had italian sausage, which he said was great. I had the salmon and grilled veg for main, was gorgeous and quite a big portion, and he had the linguine which looked and smelled amazing, but I felt the mains came a bit too quickly after the starter, and the service was little rushed(I felt like we were being rushed out as the place was so busy) the wine was delicious, and worth the extra money. Then we had panacotta & sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and a coffee & shot of liquer, all in all gorgeous food, ok service and reasonable prices, but they have to sort out the website and update the set meals section!

Great Italian place in Glasgow city centre with a range of different menus. Worth checking the website to view the menus beforehand and definitely book as you can only get some menus if you prebook. Very good value considering the excellent quality, professional service and friendly staff. A normal selection of accompanying wines with various apperitifs available. Good quality and well priced.
