I visited today as I was working nearby and enjoyed a felafel baguette with garlic mayo, a San Pelligrino Chinotto and a mocha with extra shot of espresso. I was excited to try the chinotto(after a discussion on Unilocal talk I had been looking out for it– I had enjoyed a similar drink in Malta called Kinnie, and the staff chatted to me about that, as chinotto is a little like this). You can also order different San Pellegrino, sparkly water and Cawston juices. They stock ‘Real’ crips in lots of flavours. The coffee was delicious– I like strong coffee but I was in the mood for something sweet so the mocha really hit the spot. I also bought a raspberry macaroon cake to eat later on, they looked too nice to miss, especially with the toasted coconut on top. My sandwich was made up fresh and I was able to personalise it(leave out things or add garlic mayo). They had nice sounding soups, and a big ‘suggested menu’ on the wall(earlier in the day some sandwiches are pre made, but you can also ask for specific things from the menu). The whole place is small, but light and airy with some quirky artwork on the walls. A nice spot to stop if you are nearby(or need a picnic for a summy day in George Square, as Sarah A. suggests in a previous review).

I’m here pretty much only to get lunch during work and when the sun is out cause it’s an excuse to picnic at George Square. The Piece in Finnieston is super popular, and so is this wee takeout branch in the city centre! It’s small but there’s like constantly people coming in and out. Good sign eyh? Well nothing too much to say. The service is ok, clear and fast, though sometimes the staff members don’t smile at you or make small conversation(I don’t ask for much! Maybe a «how are you?» or «nice day eyh!»). The sandwich combos are pretty damn good though! My favourite so far is the SmackDown, which has smoked mackerel, beetroot and gerkins in it(I’m obsessed with gerkins and I don’t understand why). I usually have a soup along with it a recently I tried their roasted garlic and mushroom soup which was fab(also obsessed with any variation of mushroom soups so yay for that). Other than the lack of enthusiasm from the staff members sometimes, this is a good place to get your packed lunch! They have healthy options and 3 different breads to choose from for your sandwiches(ciabatta, baquette or normal white/brown bread). They also do coffee though they don’t seem like a bunch to make delicious cuppas so I don’t know how much I’d recommend that(I haven’t tried it either and am too scared to hehe). Give it a go if you’re working in the city centre!
