This review is for the pub. It is seriously old school. There are twee patterns on the rugs and wallpaper. The«art» on the wall consists of classics like a bulldog smoking a pipe. There is a platoon of elderly Rangers fans permanently fixed at the bar, pints of bitter regularly making the trip from counter to lips at a comfortable pace. However, The Redhurst manages to stay just this side of acceptable Old Man Pub. Despite the archaic setting, there is a rather eclectic mix of locals there any night of the week, ranging in ages and backgrounds. They serve the usual pub fare for less than £7 an entrée, and the food is good. A bit heavy, but tastily so. Sometimes Old Man pubs run the risk of bland and soggy, but the heart attack inducing fare of classic pub grub is, at least, crisp and properly seasoned here. If you ever find yourself in Giffnock and fancy a wee quiet pint or inexpensive but reliably tasty meal, get on down to the Redhurst. It’s reminiscent of a time that is rapidly receding from regular Scottish life.
