Had some time to kill in the area, so went in for a light lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. I have previously known the place as an old mans pub, but in recent times it’s become a more youthful, west end type establishment. I had the goats cheese salad with rosted peppers and courgettes, which was suprisingly delicious. The prices might not be the cheapest in the area(the reason why i gave it 4* in stead of 5*), but it more than makes up for it with the atmosphere. They also do sourdough base pizzas and steamed buns. The service was also delightful, the guy serving me(receipt said Luke) was really welcoming and even said i can put in song requests . Would definitely go back in the near future, perhaps to take part in their events(pub quiz etc.)

This was my second visit to Redmonds. I really like the décor and styling of the bar, and the warm welcome from the staff. The drinks menu is quite extensive, with interesting soft drinks, some cool draught beers and also many bottled beers which vary in price. Good choice! Almost everyone was ordering food at the time which we visited, which meant that at one point the whole pub smelled of strong cooking flavours(some on the more chargrilled side, I actually wanted to go outside for some fresh air at one point). This made the atmosphere far from ideal for a quiet drink, so this time I can only give 3 stars. I’d go back, but hope it was 4 or 5 stars for them next time I go Dennistoun way!

By now everyone should be well aware that Dennistoun had been having a pretty awesome revival over the past few years. Redmonds is a prime example of this. It’s a fairly mid sized bar, quite modern, with wood everywhere. The atmosphere is nicely relaxed, and on the weekends it has a real buzz about it. The staff have been great every time I’ve been in — sorting a tab is no biggie. The beer selection is pretty good, and not overly expensive. I’ve eaten here a couple of times too, they do a mean pizza and chicken pot thing. Without a doubt, one of my favourite bars.

I suppose we came on the busiest and toughest night for the staff at Redmonds cause it seemed like nothing was going too well for them. I can’t complain about the staff nor the food/drinks because everything was lovely. Staff were accommodating and friendly, steamed buns were interesting and somewhat a new dish for me(in Glasgow at least) and drinks were great! The only thing was that we waited for our food for one and a half hours(++)? We were informed that it’d be late tonight due to short amount of staff members but I didn’t expect it to be so super late! It was like 10.30pm already. And it was for steamed bun burgers that didn’t seem too complicated to prepare anyway! They didn’t have enough paper for their cashier machine either so they just wrote down the total of our dinner on a paper and we had to deal with it ourselves. Hmmmm. Also, the card machines weren’t working well so we had to try like 4 times to pay for our late meal. My feedback would just be to maintain quality of these simple things? Also have enough staff members on a weekday night guys hello? Can’t imagine what it’d be like when it’s twice as busy on a weekend night then! Luckily for the lovely company last night, it was still pretty fun despite the tardiness of our food and such! Again, food and staff were fine so I’ll give this place a second chance some time and update this review :)

I almost don’t want to tell folk how good Redmonds is… it’s brilliant! Keeping the nice touches of the original incarnation, opening it out and giving it a friendly outlook, not to mention the excellent stripped back but still relaxed and cosy interior, the welcome couldn’t be warmer! They serve a wide range of craft beers alongside a simple but oh-so-tasty menu, the steamed buns are out of this world, portobello mushroom in hoi sin being my winner, we may have been a couple of times, you know… to check consistency… uh huh! If you aren’t sure what you fancy, the staff are great for recommendations and are always really friendly. Another perfect addition to the growing food and drink community in Dennistoun, I’ll raise a pint to that!

I don’t visit the east end all that often, but there was a few places along Duke Street I wanted to visit. And what I was really interested in were the steamed buns at Redmond’s — that sounded like something I needed in my life. Redmond’s is a nice looking, welcome pub from the outside and lovely and cosy inside. Tweed booths and tall benches mean there’s seating for every occasion — on a Thursday lunch time it was pretty quiet though so I grabbed a window seat. Looking over the menu there’s a good selection of bits and pieces like flatbread pizza(and mini versions), salads and the aforementioned steamed buns(chicken, pork, mushroom and prawn). I like the menu — it’s different from most pub offerings and it’s refreshing to see something a bit different. The guy working was super helpful and welcoming, and suggested the pork bun, but as I was just after a snack I thought I’d stick with what I love and ordered a chicken bun. The chicken is crumbed in panko breadcrumbs(the delicious, super crispy kind) and has a hot mayo sauce with it. The bun is £4 or you can get a side with it for £5.50(soup, salad, wedges). The bun arrived quickly and was nicely presented with a wee garnish of salad. I took out the cucumber as I’m really not a fan, and bit into the bun. Then, I giggled. Yeh, sometimes I giggle when I eat, what of it? That’s when you know I’m really happy. The bun was perfectly pillowy soft and delicious. The spicy mayo gave it the right amount of kick, and the chicken was crispy and tender inside. YUM. The bun does have a tendency to stick to your teeth a little but just keep wolfing it down and enjoy. I enjoyed everything about this pub — the décor, the music, the staff and the food. It won’t be long before I’m back.

After the excitement of the Team Scotland Athletes’ Parade through Glasgow last Friday, my folks and I ventured into Redmond’s for some teatime refreshments. I’d been eager to visit this new Dennistoun bar since I spotted it a couple of weeks ago. Impressed with the drinks on offer — Williams Joker IPA, West St Mungo and Drygate Apple Ale on tap was encouraging. Unfortunately the Drygate Apple Ale just finished leaving my dad to settle for a Joker, which he had no complaints about. The staff are great. Welcoming and friendly, with some good banter too. The interior is pretty good too — not the usual«post-industrial shabby chic», more a makeover of the prior pub with some cool wee booths and high and low tables, and retro bare bulb lights. Just as we perusing the menu my brother and baby arrived to join us for a bite to eat — unfortunately at the time they didn’t have a daytime licence for under 18s so the baby was barred! The staff were really apologetic and said the licence application was pending. Sadly we didn’t have a chance to try the menu, but I’ll definitely be back to do so again soon. We dropped by later that evening after eating elsewhere and the bar was nice and busy. A fantastic addition to Dennistoun, well worth a visit.

I was excited to try yet another new bar in dennistoun. We went on saturday night and the place was quite busy. Its nice inside. quite modern. They sell beers from drygate across the road. I ordered prosecco which came warm. I asked for a cold one and they had none in fridge so i had to wait untill one was chilled. O was a bit confused why they even served me it warm instead of offering me something else. My friends ordered wine however they have no wine glasses so had to drink from normal glasses. they werent to happy about that. We ordered quite a lot of food from the pork and chicken steamed buns, wedges, chorizo pizza, herring and venison pâté. The best dish was the pâté with oatcakes. The pork bun was nice but the chicken one was quite dry. The flatbread pizzas were nice however my friend prefers crispier bases so dodnt finish it all. The prices were ok. However there isnt a big selection of food so id say its a better place for drinks and a nibble. Our server was very good and the food came fast.
