We did not stay in the hotel. We did have a drink at the bar and then ask the hotel manager if we could park for the night at the hotel since we wanted to hike in and tent camp in the forest. We had just climbed Ben Lomond that day. He said it was fine. He and the bartender were very friendly. We also had coffee there the next day also fine. Beer selection not the best.

fabulous room with fabulous views on three sides. If you get this room beware of the light sensor in the bathroom, or you may be plunged into darkness!

The Rowardennan Hotel oozes tranquility and serenity, just like its surroundings. With 18 rooms it has the cosy, intimate appeal of an old château but with many contemporary amenities. Double rooms are just over £100 for the night but are decorated with modern Scottish flavour, spacious and accessible for all. If you are looking to bring your family away for a hiking weekend, family accomodation is as little as £120 — a bargain to be sleeping in a hotel surrounding by the great outdoors! The Rowardennan has a friendly, welcoming appeal, as does its pub, the Clansman. This pub for many is the first port of call after a day hiking over Ben Lomond, and I was thankful it was waiting for us at the bottom of the mountain. The bar staff make you feel like a local and are no doubt used to people coming in here parched after a hard day’s hike. It’s very relaxed and has a big old log fire for the winter, and outdoor seating by the Loch for the summer. It’s family friendly and the kids can go nuts running down more energy in the play area while the adults tuck into a few beers. I don’t know if it was just because I was tired but yesterday I had the best pint of cider I’ve ever tasted from the Clansman, and was very grateful of the seat. The hotel and pub are in a beautiful, scenic location, nestled in the heart of the Trossachs by the Loch. There is something calming about sipping a pint by the waterside on a balmy early evening. This hotel makes a great getaway destination for people wanting to escape the city as much as it’s fantastic for tourists. My family stay on the Argyll side of the Loch towards Arrochar, and it was nice to see it from a different perspective. Although this hotel and pub’s idyllic setting make it an unforgettable experience, the hotel itself has the wonderfully warm ambiance of an old tavern, and I would definitely come back here for a restful weekend.

We stopped here during our walk along The West highland Way. My room was lovely(room 2), but others in our party had rooms that were still ‘off-suite’. The staff were friendly and attentive. The evening food(bar grub) was ok, the usual steak pie, fish and chips, pastas etc. the breakfast was good though, everything from the full cooekd scottish breakfast right through to smoked salmon etc. On the whole, the hotel is very well geared up for WHW walkers.
