I would have given this three stars or more before, as it used to be one of my most used supermarket convenience stores, but since the new(ish) refit I find it difficult to find the things I want, and also the range has been reduced slightly in most areas –although I think the Free From range has increased, which is good. The till arrangement is a little tedious, far too many self service tills and not enough normal ones I think. Generally I really like Sainsburys, but I prefer other branches over this one now.

This sainsburys is a regular stop off for me as I pass it going to and from work. Plus points: ATM inside Loads of fresh fruit /salad pots Huge self serve area at the checkouts Not so plus points : It was recently refurbed and now has the worst layout of any supermarket I’ve been in. There’s quite a significant increase in prices due to location. I wouldn’t get a weekly shop here, but for odds and ends, it’s really handy.

Recently refurbished, this particular location is now bright and airy and caters to the person on the go. Everything is laid out to where you can browse the isles with ease and there are more self serve tills then there are staffed tills. I quite like checking myself out because I can go at my own pace and get myself in and out. One thing to mention is that there is a company called graze who supplies a boxed snack monthly subscription service who now sells their products in single quantities here at sainsbury’s. My boyfriend and I used to subscribe, so its nice we can get some of the items we loved without having to have a subscription. Bonus! This is my go to when I’m in town with friends needing a juice or some snacks for the movies. Its convenient and smack dab in the middle of everything. Its great.

This place looks great. Looks different since I moved back from Liverpool. Looks great in fact. I feel like a giant walking around here as everything is very low level. Only thing I’ll say bad is that your pricing us too high. £1.35 for a bottle of Irn Bru or 65p a bar of chocolate.

I pretty much visit this Sainsbury’s every day for my lunch when I am at Uni. It is a smaller store that sells a little bit of everything; groceries, booze, lunches, magazines, small gifts and a fresh fruit and salad bar. I usually go for the sushi which at £3, isn’t the cheapest but is probably the best supermarket bought sushi you can get. I also like the fruit bowls you can make up yourself. You can choose from small to large bowls and fill them with a selection of fruit, muesli and yoghurts for £2−4. Great wee supermarket, always mobbed with students, although too pricey to do a weekly shop here!

This supermarket is in an ideal location at the top of Buchanan Street, ideal for nearby students staying in the city centre, especially those staying in Buchanan View/Caledonian Court/Victoria Halls, like I did for three years. The only problem — students don’t have a lot of money. Which is why I tended to avoid this place. It’s just a typical over-priced Sainsburys really. Some of the food is very good quality, true. There is a good selection of alcohol(a godsend if you are a student). And the queues aren’t too bad most of the time, now helped by the introduction of self-service checkouts. These things are actually quite easy to use when you get use to them, despite the grumblings of most customers. It’s a shame about the prices though. Otherwise Sainsburys and I could have enjoyed a fruitful three-year love affair.

An excellently placed Sainsbury’s in the city centre. Hurrah! If you work in the upper Buchanan Street/lower Sauchiehall Street or the surrounding vicinity, this is the ideal place to pop in and grab yourself a packed lunch. With a salad bar and endless fridges full of luncheon delights, it’s better value for money than a Boots meal deal or even a Gregg’s. It’s also a pretty substantial supermarket. I’ve run in here on numerous occasions to pick up a bottle of something delicious(read: alcoholic) on the way to catch a train straight to a friend’s house, or even to walk up the road to a flat party. Being a supermarket, they tend to have some good deals, even if it is a fiver off some expensive whiskey. At the entrance there’s a till and the front little foyer section acts as a self-contained newsagents with newspapers, magazines, sweets, gum, tobacco, and an ATM. Brilliant!

Sainsbury’s is well-placed here — with no other supermarkets particularly nearby, it is just so convenient for picking up that pint of milk, sandwich for lunch, magazine for the train journey(both Queen Street station and the bus station are in close proximity) or even a sneaky chocolate bar. I have used this Sainsburys for all of the above and it always comes up trumps. There is a great choice of sandwiches and wraps or other savoury snacks you might fancy and the cookies in the bakery section are top notch(white chocolate yummmm). With lots of tills(in relation to the size of the store) including those self-checkouts and express ones at the entrance, the queues move quickly. Sure enough, it is small and could barely be categorized as a supermarket but as a convenience store, it is excellent.

I’ve never really warmed to Sainsbury’s. It’s a good enough supermarket, but lacks that certain something that the big guns of ASDA and Tesco have. Perhaps it’s because the stores aren’t usually as big. While you could spend a good few days wandering the aisles of a Tesco Extra in a state of awe, there aren’t that many Sainsbury’s that go beyond the everyday(and slightly expensive) groceries. They used to do a salt beef and gherkin sandwich, which made for a truly unforgettable lunch experience, but it’s gone now. Pretty much sums it up for me.

I like this supermarket which is conveniently located next to Buchannan St underground, and I’ve been using it a lot more since my local Somerfield on Byres Road died and went to heaven(or perhaps hell, the store wasn’t particularly good). For a city supermarket this has everything you need for that pop-in shop on your way home from work. There’s a kiosk section with the usual magazines and tobacco products, as well as fridges full of lunch-time snacks. There’s a decent bakery section, good fruit and veg, lots of easy-make dinner options and a good selection of booze for when you’ve had a particularly long day. Granted, Sainsbury’s isn’t the best value of the supermarket giants, but the bakery has discounts at the end of the day and it has a lot of its own-brand cereals, frozen foods and soups etc which are significantly cheaper than the big brand names. I usually pop in during the after work rush hour, but the long queues quickly disappear and you never have to wait very long for the self-service check-outs.

This is not a large store but is of a decent size for being located within the city centre. They sell all the basics including bread, fruit, biscuits, juice etc. They also have some meals. I would not tend to do a weekly shop here though as there is more choice in the larger stores however it is fine for the odd meal during the week etc. The store i find is always busy and i don’t think i have ever been in here when i have not found myself in a queue so bear that in mind.
