I needed to have a few US sized passport photos taken and I wasn’t sure where I was going to get this type of picture taken. After googling, I realised Snappy Snaps is just around the corner from my Uni, so I was able to pop in in between classes and have these pictures taken. The process was pretty simple and pain free– all in it took about 5 minutes to process, I paid and I was on my way. The staff were super friendly and packaged my wee pictures in a take away holder and I was off. I’m not exactly sure how much passport photos cost– but I was ok with paying £9.99 as I now know I won’t be knocked back by the American Embassy in London for having the wrong sized photos. Hooray! I recommend this place for all your passport picture needs.

Snappy Snaps on Byres Rd seems to be continuously busy and given the wide range of services they offer and the quality of their customer care this comes as no surprise. As well as the standard photo processing you would expect they also offer the chance to have your photos printed on a wide range of products from key rings and mouse mats to large canvases and t-shirt printing. The shop also stocks a wide range of photography supplies and photo frames. I’ve used the shop on a number of occasions, always for one of two services. The first being ID photos for passports and drivers licences. The cost of getting this done at Snappy Snaps is comparable to using a photo booth, but the results are generally more reliable. Staff will take your photo in a specially set-up part of the shop and will take more than a few photos to allow you to pick one you like. You’ll then have only a couple of minutes wait until your photos are ready and they’re pre-cut avoiding any squinty scissor jobs before send them off. I’ve also used the shop for standard photo processing and they have a wide variety of options available including machines for self-printing in store and online ordering. My preferred method is online ordering where you can upload you photos, crop them and select from a wide variety of print options. Once you submit your order the shop will confirm by email when it has been received, when they start processing it and finally when it is ready for pick-up. I really like that they keep you in the loop about what is happening and have never had to wait more than about an hour before my prints are ready for pick-up. I always been very pleased with the service I’ve received and the quality of the prints which is why it’s become my go-to choice for photo printing.

This will be a pretty quick review. I needed some passport size photos, and I got some. The price and waiting time were both reasonable and the photos came out just fine. Nothing special or exciting, just some basic pictures!

I work around the corner so the Byres Road location is super convenient for me. I walked over on my lunch for US passport photos. Speedy, very knowledgeable service! Their prices may be a touch higher than Boots or a self-service passport photo booth, but the quality is much better. For something as important as a passport renewal, I happily paid the extra couple of pounds for peace of mind.

While this place looks a little tired, it still does a roaring trade thanks to the range of services it offers. For example, you can print out your photos on mugs, keyrings, mouse mats, jigsaws etc… The quality is better than expected and it can make for a nice, unique present. If you’re old school, printing out your photos on paper is still what this place does best. My only complaint, however, is the size. If all self-print machines are taken up it can be seriously claustrophobic and hard to move in.

Snappy snaps is a printing and photographic services shop on Byres road where you can get your snap transferred onto canvas, t-shirts, bags, mouse mats and mugs, as well as getting passport photos done and of course regular printing from film, digital memory cards, usb sticks and CD discs. The new booths where you insert your memeory card/usb/CD are very easy to use and to preview your shots before you order. The staff will help you out if you get stuck and the service is very fast and extremely good value for money. It is easy to get to either by the bus or via Hillhead tube station and is wheelchair friendly.

As a keen amateur photographer, I’ve become very familiar with Snappy Snaps on Byres Road. Their main custom is in developing photos from digital and film however they offer many other services: they take passport photos, they will put your photos onto mugs, bags and the likes, they will restore old damaged photos, they will put your photo on a big canvas and can even make it look Andy-Warhol esq. They also have a small selection of photo albums and photo frames. The small shop can sometimes get busy however the staff are friendly, efficient, and seem to know their stuff. If like me you struggle with their ‘do it yourself’ developing machines(ok, I know most people don’t, but for the less techo-savy of us), they will happily assist you. My only complaints are that the company should consider changing its hideous green and yellow colour scheme and that they should have better advertised their 10% student discount; after spending a fair bit of moula in this shop over the last couple of years, I’ve only just recently noticed the 10% Student Discount sign(I’ve just graduated!).
