I was in here today, just as I was n one of your other stores today, buying the same thing. «Irn Bru» as I was walking all over Glasgow with sore feet looking for a bargain:(this store is worth watching for price drops, as they reduce loads on the reduced section, that me and someone else have been here loads looking for bargains. They even stack crates with bread, cakes and doughnuts, that are priced next to nothing. I once noticed Bacon reduced here for 50p with 2 days left. I bought loads and put them in the freezer. Today, they had a guy standing in the middle departing part of the self scanners politely offering bags to people. This was much needed as it was not so straight forward getting a bag. Problem solved. The staff are always friendly in this place, and there have been a few friendly Irish serving me in the past. Thumbs up.

You know what guys, I was kinda unsure as to whether or not to check out this new retail joint on Sauchiehall Street. Hell, we all know that Tescos are tryin’ to take over the world, right? And nobody wants a Tesco on their doorstep, would kinda kill my buzz if a Tesco rocked up on my front door and I was all like«Hey, Tesco» every morning, yeah? So anyways, I thought I’d kinda just check it out, and guys — I have to admit, this place has an awesome line in classic slaw! You can buy it in these super awesome little tubs, hell — they even put it in their southern fried chicken sandwiches, awesome! I’m all about that S-fried chick-a-dee! PLUS you can go down the self checkout OR use the more chatty«real guy» route — because I have such an awesome, big square beard, I like to go check myself out, you know what I’m sayin’ guys? But sometimes it’s hella cool to just kick back on an old school tip and chew the fat with some real guys at the tills, man. They got this one huge dude with a big, ginger beard and a big, ginger ponytail who looks like he just walked off the set of Braveheart — that guy’s ass looks like it could take on Belgium on its own, man! So, for me, this is a welcome addition to the centre of G-Town; sure, we all know Tesco is bad, right? But you tell me a place where you can get a bigger range of slaw and I’ll show you a super awesome guy without a beard. Ain’t gonna happen, guys!

I have a love/hate affair with Tesco, but it’s mostly been hate of late(mate). They majorly peed me off when on 3 occasions upon ordering home delivery they either a) Got the wrong address & then refused to deliver to was my CORRECT address and b) Twice failed to deliver on the day/time of my allotted ‘delivery slot’. What is the point of giving someone a delivery ‘slot’ if you can’t stick within it? The second time they done this the delivery driver never even informed me he wasn’t coming. So I had to make a very angry phone call to Tesco, which I never like doing. Bah. My poor blood pressure. So if I shop with Tesco now it is within their stores. NOMORE home deliveries for this girl. Uh-uh. I also tend to shop in other supermarkets rather than Tesco if possible and in fact on this day initially I walked straight past this Tesco to go into the nearby Salisbury’s. Unfortunately Salisbury’s didn’t have a couple of items I was particularly shopping for so upon spotting Tesco, and with a heavy heart, I entered the abyss(haha!)…and I kinda hate myself for admitting this but I REALLY liked this store. Doh! Like the Doctor’s tardis it is far larger upon entering inside than it appears from the outside. I expected something slightly larger than a Tesco Metro but this place is quite a decent size. As Rocco also pointed out it is really good to have a decent sized supermarket within town; most others are wee Express/Metro-sized ones(where the prices reflect this also) that have a very limited selection of goods. I like choice me. One of my passions is strolling around shops/supermarkets and checking out all the new/different produce. Bit sad you may think but I love it because I love trying new things. I’ve never been a ‘stick to a strict list’ kinda gal ~ this is why I tend to always spend more than I anticipate upon entering almost every shop I go in. Whoops. I like to be spontaneous! This store has lots of interesting goodies within: great choice of fresh fruit & vegetables, bakery goods, ‘World Foods’(I spotted American, Irish, Indian/Pakistani, Chinese, Japanese & Caribbean. There’s probably more), ‘Finer’(posh) food products and lots of choice in general products-wise. I was well impressed. The checkout area at first seemed a bit confusing & also rather Primark-like but I wasn’t waiting long before a self-service one was free to use. I usually prefer to not use them(I have struggled in the past with these machines either not taking my money or getting the annoying ‘Seek assistance’ message flagging up every 3rd or 4th item. SHUTUPMACHINE!) but the number of regular check-outs to self-service ones is crazy, so SS it was. No problems(for once). So I was pleased. What else can I say? Well, I came in for 2 items and left with 9. Oops. I think I done it again…

This is one of the newer Tesco stores located in the central area in Sauchiehall street. This shop is well stocked with unusual imported foods that you would find hard to get in an international food store, I’m in general not a fan of Tesco and will only shop there if there is no where else open late. I find the security staff intimidating and rude I think one guy there has mummy issues and should really have counselling and not be taking his anger out on customers who do no wrong. The self service section is a joke as half of them have not been switched on and the one l used made me feel as if l just won the jackpot on a fruit machine in a pub, how can a shop justify paying a customer 62p change in 2p pieces. Ice cream that has been defrosted is being re frozen and sold again when l reported the issue to the duty manager he did nothing. Tesco sort yourselves out!

Despite the fact Tesco is slowly but surely talking over the world, I was more than happy to welcome this massive Tesco to Glasgow for two main reasons. Firstly there are no good sized(and sensibly priced) supermarkets in town which offer a decent selection of food, and secondly, this newly opened store sits on the spot of former Littlewoods Dept Store which has just been laying empty for years. So, it seemed to me that the top end of Sauchiehall street really needed a lift, as this old, boarded up and decaying building was quite the eye sore. Thankfully big Tesco’s have fully restored the whole building, given it a bright and clean façade and the area just looks a whole lot better now. To top it all off, this particular Tesco has a great range of food, offering freshly baked breads, a variety exotic fruits and vegetables as well as having an ethnic food isle. It’s also very conveniently located near to my abode, so hurrah for that!
