Look who’s back, back again, Mersh is back, tell your friends. I have been so busy that whilst I’ve had time to eat out the concept of writing about it when I get home has seemed a step too far so in the next hour will be a splurge of all the places I’ve been in the last month or so. Starting with this pre-theatre menu visit to Thairiffic and by jove was it good. At 2 course for £13.50 it is an absolute bargain. Our group did a mix and match starter selection of Hoi Jor(porky dumplings), Rock & Roll Chicken Rolls and Gai Yaang Ta Krai(fragrant and spicy chicken skewers packed with one of my all time favourite flavours, lemongrass). The skewers were the highlight for me although I wasn’t mad keen on the Hoi Jor they were still nice enough. For main I had Thai Cashew Nuts with King Prawns and(of course) coconut rice and it was delicious mild but tasty and the coconut rice was a perfect accompaniment. I also had my first taste of a Massaman Curry and that’s already been added to the scrapbook to try at home myself. It’s lovely inside, so lovely that you almost forget it’s slightly less than salubrious location across from Campus and amongst the world’s longest running construction site. Great food, great service and great value. Take me back!

I haven’t had such a beautiful Thai food in a while, in fact, if ever! This is my boyfriends favourite place also :) I’ve chosen the love duck curry, which really speaks for itself! The duck was delicious. I do like quite sweet food but I understand for some people this option with pineapple and coconut rice(my choice) might be too much. However, for me it was a treat instead of the dessert also The Thairiffic soup was one I am thinking of since then every time we pass some Thai place lovely with a mix of seafood, big enough to share for the starter — but you don’t want to share this one This place really deserves 5 stars from me — lovely food, great service and really nice clean chilling atmosphere and good value. Something to recommend! Can’t wait to visit again.

Two days left of a ten day vacation, and we are thrilled to have discovered Thairrific. We enjoyed it so much the first night that we decided to eat there again right before our flight back to the states. Immediately upon entering you are warmly greeted. In fact, I cannot say enough about the kind, efficient and professional staff. They are attentive but not to the point of being intrusive. Just, very polite. The first night I ordered Pad Thai. Not knowing what to expect, it’s usually a safe bite at any Thai restaurant. In the U.S. I order my food«thai spice» as the amount of heat I’d like. The host didn’t seem familiar with that phrase,.but apparently he understood because my dinner was delicious. The perfect balance of sweetness and spice. The following night we returned and we’re not disappointed. We had the Rock &Roll Spring Rolls, green curry Gaeng Kiew Wan, duck stir fry, and a banana dessert. The entire meal and service was impeccable. I highly recommend Thairrific.

Great Thai restaurant with a nice atmosphere and service. It’s on the upper level with some tables overlooking the street which is nice. There were lots of couples on dates here. My dish had squash in it which was creative and different for a Thai restaurant. The only downside is that they charge you extra for rice which should come with your meal. I guess this starts after 6pm so you could save a little $ coming early.

We ended up at Thairiffic after our original plans failed, but it worked out! It’s always tricky to find places that will work for me(gluten free) and my partner(vegetarian), plus we had friends visiting that we wanted to impress. You can’t really tell from the street, but after a climb up the stairs you find yourself in a rather pretty little restaurant. The service here is great, everyone was very friendly, prompt and helpful. As for the food, we were there early(long day of beer sampling) so we were able to take advantage of the pre-theatre menu, which gives you a starter and a main for 13.50. Both the pre-theatre and main menus are labeled with vegetarian and gluten-free dishes, which is nice(I hate trying to guess, and anywhere noodles and/or soy sauce are involved, it gets iffy really quickly.) I had the papaya salad for a starter and sweet and sour pork for a main. My partner went off the regular menu and had mango rolls(mango, avocado and a few other veggies in rice paper) and a curry. Our friends had a soup and a curry, and rock and rolls with pad thai. Our food was all pretty good; no one complained, but no one was really blown away either. If I was rating solely on food, I’d probably give this place three stars, but the service and atmosphere warrant a bump up to four. I was a bit disappointed that pad thai couldn’t be made gluten-free; there wasn’t much else on the menu that I’d want to try, since the majority of the gluten-free mains were curries and that just isn’t for me. There were several starters that sounded nice, so I suppose I could make due with soups and salads and the like.

I’m not so sure about this place. Everytime I eat here, I leave feeling a bit underwelmed to say the least. I really want to love this place, because I do love Thai food, but I’m not sure this place is where it’s at. A group of friends and I decided to take one of our friends visiting from Brazil out for some Thai food. We decided not to go to the usual place we go, but instead try something different. A few of us had been before, but most of us had never been. we were seated at large table(we called ahead to book) and our drinks order were promptly taken. If there’s one thing I do enjoy here, it’s the staff. I’ve never run in to a greater set of people, from the bar staff to the actual wait staff, everyone is super friendly and inviting. We were waiting on a couple more people before we ordered, so it gave us time to mull over the menu. They have crackin’ pre-theatre deals, so many of us went for those. I typically go for the Pad Thai, but thought I’d live on the edge for once and get something different. I actually went with the Thai Cashews, which was basically fried chicken chunks and loads of green/red peppers and cashews. Boring. The meal itself was not very satisfying, and it seemed as though I had just ordered a takeaway from my local Chinese restaurant. I was less than excited. A lot of my friends ordered the Pad Thai and loved every bite of it. The six of us literally were there from 6 until about 9 when we finally decided it was time to make a move and the staff there were so accomodating and nice about us just staying to have a chat with each other. We sure can talk, and they kept our water glasses full until we left. I was really surprised they didn’t kick us out– it was a really nice evening, I just wish the food was a bit better.

I went here the other week before a gig at the o2. I had seen reviews on Unilocal and thought id check it out as i love thai food. I went on a Thursday night around 6pm. It wasn’t overly busy but was picking up as we were leaving. The restaurant was lovely, nicely decorated and quite spacious. The staff were pleasant and the service was quick. We ordered from the pre theatre menu £12.90 for starter and main each. We got starters to share — rock and roll and hoi jor. The hoi jor, not something i’d order again. And for mains — massaman curry and thai cashew. Both meals were lovely and very filling. The coconut rice was also really nice. Overall, i give it 4⁄5. I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to thai food as I’ve spent a lot of time in Thailand so i thought a 4 was generous. I Would go back but i’d try different starters.

I had some fine fine noodles in a red curry sauce with tofu. The menu labeled it «spicey» but by my somewhat spice likely US standards it wasn’t really hot at all. I really love when Thai restaurants pan fry the tofu so it is soft inside and crunchy out and it wasnt that way here. Still, really full flavors and super affordable. The staff is very attentive. They split our check and gave me the wifi. Go!

I liked it. Had the Beef Pad Thai. It was something I’d get again. This place is on the second story of the building on a main street in Glasgow and it’s nice to look out the window. The dinner music was soft, easy going and practically seductive. Some of it had unique chord changes, one song even containing a two major chord in the chorus. All in all I’d say this place is worth visiting.

Been to Thairiffic probably around 4 or 5 times. The last time I went was probably around a year ago so I was so glad when I went again last week that it was as good as the last time! I love thai food and try to order a different dish each time — this visit I had ordered a chicken and sweetcorn soup which was amazing and a spicy udon dish(drunken udon I think it was called…), personally I love very spicy food and don’t usually get overwhelmed by the spicyness — but this time my mouth was on fire! I didn’t mind it at all as I love the burn of spicy food. The staff have always been very attentive as well and always making sure that we had enough drinks and the food was up to standard for us. Great restaurant and hope they keep it up!

A little pricey but food is relatively enjoyable. The tom yum isn’t as spicy as I’d like it to be but still savory regardless. Staff are very friendly and willing to help give recommendations based on your taste buds!

After reading all of the excellent reviews here I had to try this place. I must say that it lived up to the hype and exceeded my expectations. I almost walked past the restaurant as it isn’t very obvious. If I hasn’t specifically been looking for it I never would have noticed it. The interior is very nice and welcoming though. The space is large but does not feel impersonal. The staff is very friendly which adds to the already nice ambiance. I of course ordered off of the Pre-Theatre menu. I chose the Rock & Roll as my starter. Very delicious. Pad Priggaeng was my choice for a main. It too was excellent. Both were tough choices to make as everything on the menu looks delicious. My only regret is I didn’t take any photos to post. The food looked and smelled so amazing I tucked into it without even considering pics for this review.

Hits the perfect mix of friendly service, good prices and delicious food! Having recommended Thairiffic based on the Unilocal reviews, it was great to finally get here to try the food for myself, and I was not disappointed. First up, the service. All of the staff were fantastic, outgoing without being over friendly and helped make the meal all the more enjoyable. Five of us rocked up late on Saturday night, hungry after a few beers. The birthday girl made obvious as she had purple balloons tied to her… We were seated immediately, drinks followed quickly and we got a few rounds of prawn crackers on the house to keep us going whilst we ordered. I wish I could remember what everyone ordered(and that I’d taken some photos) but alas, the Guinness consumption had me more focused on food than my Unilocal review(shame on me!). I do know that I ordered Three Musketeers to start; A trio of Satay Chicken, Thai BBQ Lamb & Char-grilled Pork, served with peanut & tamarind sauce. I love Satay but had never tried lamb or pork, but ohhh my word it was delicious. The tamarind sauce had a nice kick to it without being too explosively hot and the meats were all cooked perfectly. My hazy memory suggests my friends had Crispy Duck Rolls, Goong Choop Paeng Tod(prawn tempura), and Hoi Jor(crab meat and minced pork ‘cakes’). One advantage of this style of food is that it’s easy to share so I can confirm that all of the above were delicious and perfectly cooked. On to the main course, and on the recommendation of the waiter I ordered the Ped Sauce Ma-Kham,(Crispy duck breast with a rich, special sweet & sour tamarind sauce, broccoli, crispy red onions and cashew nuts). Ohhh my heavens, the duck was delicious, crispy outside and the succulent, rich flesh melted in my mouth. The sauce was perfectly balanced(not too sweet, nor sour) and the coconut rice was a perfect sweet, creamy delicious side. Round the table the Pad Thai was good, the Massamun Curry was excellent(and I’ll try that next time I think), and I think the others had Pad Namprigpao but I’m not that sure. Stuffed to the gills we decided to call it a day, but not before the birthday girl received a free ice cream sundae as the staff sang Happy Birthday! Faultless! It was a perfect Saturday night place, the food is delicious, the staff excellent and all in all it was excellent value for money. I will be back here as soon as I can!

Some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had and certainly the best in Glasgow that does takeout/delivery. All dishes I’ve tried are most delicious, the coconut rice is a must-have side-dish. Also, they have a great online order system.

I’d been meaning to visit here since it opened, and was embarrassed to realise it’s been open over a year now. We finally made it along for dinner on Friday night(date night!) and was glad that it lived up to expectations. Firstly, from the outset I’ll say I’ve had lots of bad experiences with Thai food. I think I ate too much of it back in Melbourne and found it overly sweet, and it really put me off. I’ve only had Thai food in Glasgow twice now — at Chaophraya and now here. I’m glad to say that Thairiffic definitely made me reassess my attitude towards Thai food. Head up the stairs off Sauchiehall Street or Pitt Street and you’ll find an elegant, well decorated restaurant space that is classy without being OTT on the Thai décor. We were seated at a table by the window — the best seats in the house — you can watch people walking/staggering/swaggering along Sauchiehall Street. The menu here is quite long and I was overwhelmed by the choice initially. I finally settled on the pre-theatre menu(2 courses for £14.50 on a Friday/Saturday) and ordered an extra starter off the a la carte menu. We tried: thairiffic rolls, rock n roll and hoi jor to start. The Thairiffic rolls are fresh rice paper rolls, generously stuffed with prawns and were really light and refreshing. The rock n rolls are fried small spring rolls which were super crunch and had a really nice minced chicken filling. And the hoi jor are dumplings, but sliced into rounds with a crab filling. All the starters were excellent and I would happily order all of them again. For the main I had a massamum curry with chicken and coconut rice. It was seriously delicious, rich and coconutty with lots of chicken. And the coconut rice went with it perfectly(but then, I think coconut rice goes with everything). We were totally stuffed after this so didn’t have dessert. I was really impressed with Thairiffic, and it was quite busy on a Friday night which was nice to see! The staff were super friendly, really pleasant, chatty and helpful. My water was refilled constantly and they always checked if everything was ok. I really can’t find fault with this place, and I look forward to going back to try some more of the menu.

First. Before we even begin — the name must be addressed. Thairiffic? I’m on the border between thinking it’s fantastically punny, or fantastically awful. Its a love hate relationship. Luckily, i don’t have such mixed reactions to the food. Complimentary prawn crackers? automatic star. Who doesn’t love freebies? I had the rock and roll entrée and a Som Tum salad. Both were packed with flavour and spice, and generous portions — i could barely finish! My friends dishes were all a hit, and really good sized portions. The Veggie pad thai looked particularly yummy! The décor in the place was really classy, and the service was top notch — attentive without being overbearing. They also regularly came past with a pitcher to refill our water glasses, which was a GREAT touch and something sorely lacking in other restaurants i feel. They have a good lunch and pre theatre deal I want to check out, so i will be back!

Ok… heard a lot of amazing tales about this place, so decided to see what all the fuss was about.(Although maybe not the best of ideas to gorge on spicy Thai food in the peak of a heatwave). Anyhoo… you would prob walk past this place and not notice it. It’s right across from O2ABC. The restaurant itself is modern and spacious. The staff has sat us at a window… which I was damn thankful for in this heat. For starters we both had Rock n Roll Thai Spring rolls. They were fresh and flavoursome and wet your appetite for the main. I had the red curry with chicken. Was a superb balance between the spice and sweetness. My partner opted for the Jungle Curry. I did warn him that it may be a bit spicy… did he listen.NO. Although he said it was delicious and packed full of flavour. The staff here are lovely, very warm, pleasant and attentive. At £11.90 each for two courses pre-theatre. Bargain for the quality of the food they serve. I am a fussy one to please with regards to my Thai places… this one defo ticked all the boxes.

There is a very valid reason why this place is called Thairiffic. Firstly, it does food from Thailand and secondly it’s just terrific. So naturally, you need to put these two words together, to form the ultimate pun for a restaurant. Not being shy of a good pun I’d been keen to Thai this place for a while. From the outside you may think you’d rather give it a miss as its situated in a rather grotty little corner of Sauchiehall Street opposite the ABC. But fear not, once you climb the stair you’ll find a very clean, fresh and contemporary restaurant. With it first floor position and large sash windows it’s nice and bright and enjoys good views down Sauchiehall Street. It also feels like a little like a converted flat, which is cool. We went for pre theatre menu, valid up until 7pm and, at just shy of £13, a Thai slappingly good value deal! The food was immensely appethaizing and packed a good punch of fresh chilli’s, herbs and zing! The waiting staff were second to none, really friendly, quick to serve and smiley. A quick perusal of the alla carte menu at my taste buds were tingling, so I’m keen to give it another shot soon.
