We’ve avoided The Lee for months after a co-worker told us it wasn’t good. We’d heard they’d updated the menu so we gave it a try today. The food was acceptable — nothing terribly impressive, but not bad at all. I had the gammon steak and chips, and it was fine. No one complained and everything was eaten. They did have a list of allergens available so if you have special dietary requirements, they should be able to accommodate.

I call The Lee, my local as I live near by and I enjoy walking here and getting a meal for a cheap price. The restaurant is always laidback, it’s a comfy clothes kind of place which is good for someone like me who loves sticking on a pair of leggings after a crazy day. It’s family friendly, the service is quick and the meals are very cheap. The place is never really quiet but it isn’t always the busiest which is a shame because it’s so close to uni’s and student accommodation. The Lee always seem to have something on too — there’s karaōke and quiz nights and the football is usually on the tv. Inside, the décor is nice — it’s not got an ageing pub look or anything. It’s a lovely little local that doesn’t break the bank.

My Son, Hubby and I go here a couple of times a month! The staff are really nice and accommodate you when they can! The foods nice at reasonable prices and they are family friendly too! Mostly locals, so always a nice atmosphere! And they offer free function hire too! Karaōke on a Friday! And their own Lager straight from the Tenants Brewery!

The Lee, and The Wee Lee, part of Maclay Inns and Pubs, offers good food, big screen TV and a family friendly environment. It is well situated for the local University campus, the hospital campus and local residents alike. It must be doing something right as it has been in operation for a good few years now. Since posting this review I have been reliably informed that The Lee was also built, owned, and then sold by Edward Lee, former owner of Edward Lee funeral directors in Muirhead.

As others have stated, despite its close proximity to Strathclyde University and 1998 prices, students and the Lee just don’t seem to mix. Equally, I’ve never encountered any of the models who are seen enjoying a pint on their official website in here either. Instead the Lee is a fairly bland offering which represents a quiet place to watch the football and little else. It used to be a popular haunt for nurses who worked at the nearby Royal Infirmary but this appears to have died down too. Not the worst pub in the area, but not really one to go out of your way for.

Can only echo the sentiments of the previous reviewers here. Despite nice modern surroundings, The Lee does feel somewhat of an isolated outpost in a part of town that’s always had a very sparse, empty air about it. It reminds me a bit of the bar in the Lintin Travel Tavern from Alan Partridge, which for me is a plus.

I’ve got to agree with Jamie’s review, this place is very strange. It does seem a bit isolated, though it is actaully a very nice pub inside if you’re willing to give it a try. I’m surprised it doesn’t seem to attract a lot of patronage, especially the nearby students. Particularly because the drinks are very cheap, which came as something of a shock to me. You would have thought this would really lure the students in. Though even on a Saturday night, the place is still dead. The décor is very attractive, with comfortable seating and a raised area at the back of the pub surrounded by a nice little wooden fence/ledge type thing. It is generally quite a modern-looking place, so you can’t say that people don’t go because it’s an old pub and a bit of a dive. Overall, there isn’t really a lot you can fault The Lee with, all it needs is the punters.

The Lee is pretty bizarre. Despite its proximity to Strathclyde Uni and the adjacent housing schemes, this pub would better suit a service station. It’s really nothing to get excited about. There are a couple of seats outside, if that so happens to float your boat. Ultimately, the bar is too far from the centre, and criminally fails to draw in the students who live just seconds away. It’s a sad day when those lazy bastards can’t muster the energy for a jaunt to the boozer.
