Visited today for lunch with my friend and it was another pleasant visit to Tony Macaroni! We got seated straight away as the lunchtime rush hadn’t started yet. They offer an amazing lunchtime deal but naturally, this doesn’t apply on a Saturday or Sunday. We were promptly greeted by our waiter who took our drinks order. I opted for a classic burger and chips(I don’t know what’s going on with my burger fascination recently but it needs to stop, haha!) The chips were freshly cooked and really delicious. The burger was okay… the roll had been toasted a little bit too long and after the first bite, all I had was this burnt taste in my mouth. This passed though and it was a nice burger… I couldn’t finish it all though! Service was great and our waiter was friendly. I’d definitely return when my burger obsession has gone!

Visited today with a friend for lunch and we were seated really quickly as the restaurant was empty when we entered. I was in the mood for some risotto and decided on the chicken risotto. It stated on the menu that broccoli was mixes through but my waiter was happy to ask for the broccoli to be left out. The risotto was delicious and creamy but not too heavy. Just the way i like it. I really wish i could make risotto like this at home. It was a lovely lunch with great service and i definetly wont leave it as long next time to return especially with the fantastic lunch deal that is available midweek!

Presto Menu — from £4.95, great value for a lunch or two! Lots to choose from on this menu including any of the pizzas from the regular menu, which at full price can be up to £12, so paying about £5.20 for a £12 pizza? bargain! I always get the same, the Pizza with Italian Sausage and French Fries(chips to us Brits) which is always great. It is absolutely huge and I struggle to finish sometimes, upon which instance the staff are ready with a pizza box for you to take it away. Great service at a very great price, always on our go to list for a quick and easy lunch.

We had a friend staying with us who is quite fussy about her food(even more than me!), so went to Tony’s on a Sunday evening as they have plenty of options on the menu. At 6pm the place was pretty busy and very noisy, party from the over-loud muzak but mostly from the long table full of boisterous rug rats that they sat us beside. Must have been families night out I guess. Fortunately they left fairly quickly so were not too much of an annoyance. Eschewing a starter, I went straight for the main event — Spigola all; Acqua Pazza, or fillets of sea bass with prawns, mussels, clams in a white wine and ‘fresh tomato sauce’, which was actually just some cherry tomatoes — I don’t know if I’d go as far as calling it a ‘sauce’. It came with a couple of pieces of toasted bread and a choice of side order, which I thought was a nice touch. I just had to try the polenta chips, having never heard of such a thing; very nice they were too! The main dish was tasty enough, even if the mussels were quite small and I’m not actually convinced I found any of the clams as the shells all seemed to be empty! But the fish was fine, the prawns were a reasonable size, and the polenta chips were really nice. Herself had a pizza, which they adapted on request to leave out the meat content, and our friend had a simple spaghetti with pomodoro sauce. Both seemed happy enough, and they decided to split a Tuttamela, which is an apple pie sort of affair. Quite a reasonable size and they were very happy to split it between them. Overall, not a bad meal, but not an outstanding experience either. Service was adequate but not exceptional, and that really seems to sum up the Tony Macaroni experience. Adequate but not exceptional.

I don’t know about the stars in this place. It’s definitely meh, but this time around it wasn’t as bad as I’ve known it to be. First things first, I still hate the radio advert, and will forever prejudice me against any of Tony’s establishments. This time, we were back again to celebrate a handed-in PhD thesis. The lunch meu(or «Presto menu» although there isn’t anything presto about it — we had to wait for at least half an hour in an almost empty restaurant. It was past 2 in the afternoon!) is reasonably priced. HOWEVER! The prices have changed — now the presto menu, instead of being £4.95 for all dishes, there are only 3 dishes that remain at that price. In small writing, Tony explains that they have kept prices at £4.95 for as long as possible(after introducing that price in 2009) but now some dishes«have a small 5% increase», without actually stating how much the dishes now are. I, for my part, think that’s rather sneaky and is not a clever way of doing business. But, that’s just me.(The dishes now cost £5.20 — which is still reasonable, but you can get better deals in many places) Although I had sworn to myself that if I had to come back, I would only eat a pizza, because they really are good. Contrary to this promise I made myself, I decided to go for the risotto. I love a good risotto. On the whole, it was a good risotto; the rice was cooked well and it was creamy and very comforting. My issues lie with the mushrooms and peppers. When biting into the mushroom, they were sour and vinegar-y which immediately shows that they were tinned mushrooms which is SO disappointing. Same goes for the peppers. This means that that unfortunately I left quite a few veggies to the side. Otherwise, I can’t say anything bad about the food itself. The waiting staff was their usual rude selves, but they didn’t have a go at us for not making a reservation for our party of 8.

So got a nice table and discovered they had cheeseless pizza AND it’s in the special offer menu yay!!! Would I go there on weekends(without the special menu)? probably not. Is it any better/or just as good as other pizza/pasta places in glasgow? I don’t eat that type of food very often but I liked it better than dimaggios. pizza menu is much more extensive & cooler toppings. PS1. pizza is unsliced PS I have a comment from a large person in our group: he says that although we did get a cool table, seating arrangement was not really comfy for him. Is this something worth mentioning? I don’t know. He certainly liked his pizza though and maybe take away next time rather than sit in.

Went for lunch here last week. The £4.95 Presto Menu is great value for money, with a large choice of mains to choose from. I ordered a pizza(you can choose any pizza from the main menu as part of the lunch deal) and it was HUGE, with a decent spread of toppings. Great if you’re looking for a cheap, tasty and filling feed on Byres Road. I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish the pizza in one go so asked to take away the other half to eat later, and staff were happy to oblige. The service was excellent — the only gripe being that one item from my group’s order was missing and this was rectified swiftly.

Have eaten here several times at weekend lunchtimes and it has always been busy, although the service has always been excellent. It is very child friendly, with activity placemats and crayons arriving almost immediately for the kids in our party, keeping them busy for almost the entire duration of our visit! The kids menu is good too, with a good range of pizzas and pastas. I have tried several items from the menu, which consists mainly, though not exclusively, of pizzas and pastas. I have thoroughly enjoyed every meal I’ve had there and the price is really reasonable. They serve good coffee too.

I tried Tony 2 Go, the take away version of the restaurant, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality, quantity and price. The only issue with this place is that you need to be in at certain times to get the best bargain — during busy times the prices go up and may not be as worth the value to some. A great lunch choice for a last minute lunch or dinner! Recommend the pizza and mac’n cheese.

I think this is going to be my first negative review on here, as, other than the odd niggle, I’ve never had a bad thing to say about the other businesses I’ve reviewed. I’m being generous giving three stars, and the reason for that was the pleasantness of the waiting staff, and my meal. My Mum and I popped in for a post work dinner, as they have an evening Presto menu, with all dishes £4.95, and they allowed us to have the dug at the outdoor seating area. We ordered our drinks, and were given some time to peruse the menu. I, as is ritual, debated between 3 dishes, whilst my Mum immediately plumped for the Pollo Milanese. With pressure mounting, and the waiter ready to take my order(I need to be put on the spot sometimes or I’m there for an age) I made a snap decision and went for the Mussel Linguine in a cream sauce. That’s not the menu name, by the way. Didn’t even try to pronounce it. Just pointed. When the food arrived, I was so relieved that I hadn’t matched my Mum’s choice of Pollo Milanese, or Southern Fried chicken breast with tomato pasta, as I like to call it. I don’t know what part of that chicken was Milanese(perhaps the feet they threw away) but it honestly tasted, and looked like fa frozen Birdseye chicken breast. There was no Parmesan flavour, the coating was solid, rather than flaky Panko breadcrumbs, and the meat appeared to be reconstituted. The pasta arrabiatta, whilst generous in size, lacked in flavour, other than an overwhelming taste of pepper, the veg. My wee Mum was so disappointed, as I would have been had I ordered that. The only saving grace for Big T, was my linguine. It actually tasted freshly prepared, flavoursome, and again, was a generous helping. The cream sauce, with spring onions through it, was a perfect consistency, and the mussels fresh and tasty. How a restaurant can be so polar in the quality of their food, between two dishes in one sitting, is beyond me. But it has done nothing to improve my view on Italian restaurants; too many, and can probably do it better myself!

Tony Macaroni seems to be doing a roaring trade in Glasgow, with new restaurants popping up all the time, but the Byres Road branch is my favourite for its location and menu selection. I always opt for the Presto Menu, which offers a selection of main dishes for £4.95 each, available until 6.30. This menu is available throughout the various restaurants, but the selection differs slightly and this is the one I come to for a big bowl of spaghetti with Mediterranean vegetables. You’ll find the expected Italian classics like lasagne and pizza, as well as seafood and risotto dishes which I found impressive for the price. This is a place I’ll visit again and again for a tasty dinner dish, in lovely surroundings, served by friendly staff, with the experience of dining out for the price of a takeaway.

The lunch prices are great and the food is good, although not standout. It’s not thar it was bad as much as it didn’t really wow me or stand out much. It’s a good option for people who you don’t know the tastes of, but it’s not a great one. The lunch service also seems a but slow, but I may have expected more of an express lunch at the price I had and it was more of a long lingering lunch. The attached Tony2Go is a goof option for food to take home and they have some good prices on pizza and pasta during the week.

We met some friends for dinner on a Friday night. My husband and I arrived a little early and we were seated at the bar while we waited for our friends to arrive. The place was packed! When our friends arrived we were seated quickly and began to peruse their extensive menu of Italian treats. We had the arancini for an appetizer and I had the seafood pasta and my husband had a pizza with chicken and chili peppers. The arancini were delicious as was my pasta. My husband said the pizza was so spicy his mouth had turned into a fireball-which is a supreme compliment(we love spicy food :)). I would love to go back and try their tapas style menu which was only available during the weekday as I love to try different dishes. I would definitely return!

Another wee trip in here Saturday lunchtime. Just two of us this time. Service was quick, the food was munchworthy. I had the Tony Macaroni Rigatoni which was good but didn’t completely knock my socks off. The Garlic bread bread however was amazing! Cooked like a puffed pizza base this was well worth the trip. I really cant knock this place at all. Reasonably priced and a great menu selection. Will be dropping by again in the future.

I’m not sure if this listing for all of Tony Macaroni or not, but I recently had their takeaway from Tony 2 Go which is right attached to the main restaurant. I ate at the restaurant a few times a couple of years ago and remember that I really liked the various pasta dishes as well, but had never had one of their pizzas, so we ordered the penne with chicken in a spinach and cream sauce and the Tony Macaroni Pizza(italian sausage, aubergine, red peppers) to split between two. The food was prepared quickly(under 15 minutes) and the pasta was delicious – I ended up dipping the crust of the pizza in the left over sauce. The pizza was good, but didn’t really wow me, but then I picked a fairly basic one compared to some of the other options(one involved an egg on top, another had french fries). I’ll definitely go back, but I may stick to the pasta dishes, or try one of their flat bread sandwiches which looked delicious as well.

i love this place! My husband and i go here at leaset once a week with our daughter for a quick bite to eat when we cannot be bothered to making something ourselves. Staff are always pleasant and the presto menu is an amazing value for money. I recommend them anytime someone is asking for a nice place to eat in the west end :) SOOOO family friendly– a BIG bonus.

I’v now been to Tony Mac’s twice and I would go again as its pretty good. First time i sat in and second time i got a take away of a very decent 12″ pizza and a box of Lazania for £10 bucks. I did prefer the food as a take away and would recommend that any day if your in the mood for Italian. The dining experience was nice enough with a good standard of food choice, wee bit slow on the ordering side but was busy and to their credit it was then delivered to the table quickly. Its also a nice busy atmosphere. I had the Crane linguine with Italian sausage VERYNICE(but dont think it was hand made pasta) and partner had the Pizza(i stole a bit was nice crispy base) so all in all a good experience. only issue i have was the sit in price, I’m always think to much is charged for a pizza or a pasta and Tony Macaroni is inline with the majority Glasgow Italians. But it is a good standard. will be back. Restaurant 3STARS Toni2Go 5STARS = 4STARS

Something about the name made me imagine that this Italian Restaurant wouldn’t be as nice as it is. It sounds a little gimmicky — but when I finally made it in there, that wasn’t the case at all. With three separate seating areas, Tony Macaroni is a big place. It’s decorated stylishly throughout — and has a very well stocked bar. It also has amazingly nice toilets, if you’re interested in that kind of thing. Now for the menu — great selection of all things Italian, including a good range of pizza and pasta. Not too expensive at all — and between 12pm and 6pm they have a special ‘Presto’ menu for £4.95 per person which includes pizzas. I imagined that you’d be given a smaller pizza as part of this deal — not so. When my pizza came, it was HUGE and absolutely covered in prosciutto, pepperoni and chicken. It was a damn good pizza, and you’ll be pleased to know that I did manage to finish it! They also do food to takeaway — and deliver it in sweet little Tony Macaroni printed Smart cars. Cute! The only thing that I wasn’t a huge fan of was the gimmicky paper place mats that tell«the story of how pasta was invented.» I put this in quotation marks — as I don’t really believe that Tony Macaroni himself invented pasta and named the different parts after, among others, his daughter Penne and his dog Linguini. Quite funny though.
